Open the door, you vixen!
“What’s wrong?” Was he poisoned by the kiddo again?
“Lord, Nannan said… cough, that if you don’t give him back the scorpion, he’ll go on a hunger strike.” Mo Xian thought about the moment when Nannan said those words, his face looked like he was ready to die for his cause, going down together with the scorpion. The veins on his face were popping out like he was making the utmost effort of his life.
Hunger strike? Ye Xiudu couldn’t hold a laugh “As long as he is happy.”
Mo Xian’s eyes widened at this sight. Lord, are you getting along this well with that kid?
He started to open his mouth again, wanting to persuade his Lord. After all, that pitiful appearance of Nannan begging him on his knees before he left really made him want to help him out. However, his Lord had a serious expression upon hearing about it and all the arguments he had on the tip of his tongue were swallowed back again.
Nannan, your Uncle Mo apologizes to you. It seems that you’ll still have to… go on a hunger strike.
Coughing, Mo Xian changing to a business-like expression and briefly explained what he saw when following Nannan around.
Ye Xiudu could almost see that kiddo’s pouting face and didn’t know what to say. It would probably be hard to meet such an interesting kid again in this life.
“You said that he got off the panther and entered a narrow alley?”
“Yes.”
Ye Xiudu pondered for a moment and said: “Go and check what’s different about that alley.”
Mo Xian nodded: “Yes.”
“Also, let some people guard the inn that Nannan was staying in to see if his mother will show up. If she does, report it immediately.”
“I understand.”
Mo Xian went out and only Ye Xiudu was left in the room. The vase holding the scorpion inside still was over the table, it seemed restless, swaying from side to side, trying to get out with all its might. Although it was a vain effort, it didn’t seem discouraged at all. He thought it looked a bit like the kiddo.
Nannan was feeling very frustrated right now, Little Lilly was caught, but it was useless to threaten that uncle with a hunger strike.
He was truly heartless, to be even willing to abuse such a small child in this way. Such a cute, beautiful and smart child who could hardly be described by human words. You wait, they’ll have it coming, when he turns into a ghost, he won’t let them go!
Nannan was angry, so angry that all of his rage turned into drowsiness. Before Mo Xian could return, he had already fallen asleep on the bed, unconscious of what was happening outside.
Mo Xian genuinely wanted to pay him respect. Didn’t he just say he’d live and die together with that scorpion? While that scorpion was still relentlessly struggling to escape Nannan was resting so fitfully. He even folded his outer clothes and put them aside neatly, washed his face and covered himself with a quilt before going to sleep. Really, he was completely lacking any feeling or sense of justice.
Sighing inwardly, he felt that he was still too naive, to have actually believed Nannan’s pitiful appearance. That hunger strike of his wasn’t a reliable protest at all.
Nannan slept very sweetly, but Yu Qingluo on the other hand was feeling restless.
The scorpion still hasn’t returned after leaving for such a long time. The sky had already darkened and there was no sign of it coming back. This place was too complex for something bad to just happen that easily.
Yu Qingluo didn’t sleep well at night when she was angry. So, the next day she woke up feeling even worse.
In the morning, the housekeeper brought her breakfast, but she didn’t take a single bite of it. She put it aside and returned to bed to try and catch some sleep to make up for the restless night.
This extended nap went on for almost the entire afternoon and the time for changing the bandages had already long passed.
A certain person, who had been waiting for her in the Solitary Pavilion for the whole day but, was unable to even see her shadow, had his patience completely exhausted. Shen Ying looked at his Lord full of apprehension. Turning his eyes towards the door several times, praying that Miss Yu would appear anytime soon and let him out of this sea of suffering.
“Lord.” The housekeeper ran over and whispered next to his ears: ” Miss Yu hasn’t gotten up yet.”
“Hah.” He let out a cold smile “She really can sleep.”
Shen Ying swallowed a mouthful and said in a low voice: “Lord, Miss Yu is probably tired. She was detoxifying Peng Ying yesterday and helping treat the Lord. She’s still a young girl and probably has to rest more in order to recover some strength. Right?”
After just speaking, he was immediately pierced by a gaze. Shen Ying closed his mouth in shock.
“You really have some protective feelings towards the other gender.” Ye Xiudu’s smile became frosty.
Shen Ying cried inwardly, could he end up offending both people by saying that? Lord, why does your tone feels so sour[1]?
Ye Xiudu frowned, then abruptly stood up: “Go, let’s go and take a look at her.”
“Eh?” Shen Ying was taken aback, but quickly greeted the housekeeper and turned to follow Ye Xiudu. He was now afraid that his Lord would start a discussion with Miss Yu. And seeing that his Lord was impatient and knowing that Miss Yu wasn’t the type to let herself suffer injustices, he must go to keep an eye on them.
The three people finally arrived in front of Yu Qingluo’s room, Ye Xiudu saw the door shut close and frowned. He raised a hand to knock on the door but hesitated. Shen Ying’s and the housekeeper’s expression became weird. How could their Lord become so indecisive?
“Shen Ying, you come and knock.” Ye Xiudu stepped back after hesitating for a while.
Shen Ying, who was called, felt his heart skip. But honestly went over and knocked twice: “Miss Yu? Miss Yu? Are you up?”
Yu Qingluo actually heard them early on but didn’t pay any attention to it. Thinking that they would leave after knocking for a while. So, she was still slumped on the bed, not feeling like moving a finger.
Shen Ying was prepared to turn around and walk away, but the Lord stood his ground. So, he could do nothing but try again.
After a small pause, he raised his hand once again and knocked: “Miss Yu? Our Lord has something he needs from you. Have you gotten up? It’s already late in the day.”
Ye Qingluo rolled her eyes and kept on ignoring him.
Ye Xiudu glared at Shen Ying, seemingly dissatisfied with the gentleness in his voice.
As soon as he stretched his hand to knock once again Ye Xiudu pushed him aside and prepared to knock on the door himself. But stopped in his treks as he noticed a small figure approaching fast from the distance.
Ye Xiudu was stunned, hearing Nannan’s angry voice: “Uncle, I’m really angry! I’m your guest after all. I’m still a loveable and precious young child. If you don’t feed me or give me something to drink how can you still consider yourself a human being?”
Shen Ying’s expression changed. He felt like the sky was collapsing over his head. Why did this kid decide to pick a bone with the Lord when he was in such a bad mood? He looked at Mo Xian, who had followed him over. The other shrugged.
Nannan rushed to Ye Xiudu’s front, slamming a small fist against his calf. He then snorted twice, saying: “I want to eat some crispy fried chicken and drink that wine I drank before, and eat some beef and mutton. Oh, snake meat is also good. I want to eat some meat…”
Shen Ying looked at him in frustration. Is this kiddo some kind of carnivore?
Nannan saw that the people in front of him hadn’t moved a finger. When he raised his head to look at Ye Xiudu’s face he noticed that his hand was standing like he was meaning to knock on the door. Blinking in surprise his sight went back to Ye Xiudu’s face as he asked: “Uncle, what are you doing here?”
Ye Xiudu gave Shen Ying a wink and the latter quietly started to pick Nannan up to leave.
Turning his line of sight back to the door, Ye Xiudu knocked on: “Miss Yu, Open the door.” But the door remained unmoved.
Nannan twisted his body from Shen Ying’s arms like a snake and quickly got down, looking at Ye Xiudu with some contempt in his eyes: “Uncle, the person inside doesn’t want to open the door. You are so useless.”
“…” Ye Xiudu scowled, ignoring him he continued knocking: “Miss Yu, open the door.”
Nannan couldn’t stand this any longer and pushed Ye Xiudu back, taking over his previous position and stating to him: “Uncle, it’s useless if you knock on the door like this. You should try doing it like this instead.”
Nannan’s palm began to slap against the door frame fiercely, shouting at the same time: “Open the door, open the door! You cheating woman! Don’t just lay down and keep quiet. Don’t try to hide in there! You shameless vixen! Hahahahaha. Open the door, open the door! You vixen, vixen, vixen!”
