You misunderstood it
“I-It’s you… hahaha… what a coincidence.” Nannan’s eyes quickly turned right and left. Noticing that the panther had stopped right in the middle of a yard inside of the Mo residence, he felt like bashing his head against a wall in frustration.
You damn panther, I’m breaking my relationship with you. You wait to see, I’ll never give you any carrots ever again.
“Do you know what are the consequences of abducting my panther?” Ye Xiudu raised his brows as he watched the small guy swinging his head and arms around restlessly, his body unable to be still.
Nannan raised his head abruptly and looked at him with bulging eyes, saying righteously: “Uncle, you misunderstood it. I didn’t abduct your panther. I just took it out on a stroll to see the world outside. Uncle, it’s not me trying to order you around out but you cannot always keep the panther shut inside of the mansion. You see, because you did so, it already became a bumpkin panther. It knows nothing about the outside world and even what are steamed buns or even their names, are unknown to him. That’s simply an ignorant panther!”
Mo Xian who happened to be following behind him almost planted on the ground as he felt his legs weaken when he happened to hear those words.
Seeing Ye Xiudu listening with great attention, Nannan said it even more confidently: “Uncle, you don’t know how much I tired myself in order to make it more knowledgeable. Me? I even took shop sighting 3 times before it finally became able to grasp its way around. Uncle, it’s not me trying to order you around, but if you want to raise a panther then you should raise it to be a smart one. Look how stupid it is! You see, I asked it to return here but it actually started to run so frenzied, it almost threw me off its back and split my ass into two.”
However, the more he talked, the more Nannan thought the situation was weird. Especially now, when his legs and arms were so sore, to the point that it was difficult to even get off the panther’s back. It took a long time before he could stretch his fat, tender and small hand towards Ye Xiudu: “Uncle, give me your hand.”
Ye Xiudu looked at him with a bit of surprise, he stretched his arms to help him out of the panther’s back.
Nannan was finally put on the ground. With his hands and legs trembling weakly, his body trembling from head to toes. He could only stand up by grabbing onto Ye Xiudu’s arms. From time to time, he stared at the panther that was in the process of eating a piece of raw steak next to him. Inside his mind, he was imagining himself spitting on it.
Really, he had been busy for such a long time, not only getting the panther outside but taking it back home again.
Thinking back at it, he almost felt like he would be spitting some old blood.
However, at this moment, the scorpion that was released by Yu Qingluo earlier and was following Nannan’s trail, feeling the boy’s scent nearby, came back in an instant.
Its careless move alerted the panther, which stopped feeding and set its sight on it.
The scorpion had barely appeared under the door’s cracks before the panther jumped on it using its paws to lock it against the ground.
Nannan was shocked by the sight: “You got a person under your paws, oh, I mean, the scorpion under your paws!”
Saying that he rushed forward. But pitifully tripped over his own feet and plunged on the floor with a ‘bang’.
“Pfft” Mo Xian, who was right by the door, let out a mocking laugh.
Ye Xiudu raised his eyes to glare at him, then leaned down to help the little kid up on his feet. Afterwards, he walked to the panther and carefully held the scorpion between his fingers.
Nannan raised his head and pulled on his robes to get his attention: “Uncle, that is mine.”
“Yours?”
“Uhm, give it back to me.” Nannan rubbed his aching arm, trying hard to stand on his own.
Ye Xiudu winked at Mo Xian who was not far away. He found a small vase and put the scorpion inside.
Nannan stared dumbfounded: “Hey, uncle, this is not ok. That’s mine and you should give it back to me. I helped you walk your panther for the whole day, and you didn’t even give me payment for that, so how can you also go grabbing my things around? If you’re like that, be careful not to be punished by the heavens.”
Ye Xiudu only felt that this scorpion was a little suspicious. It seemed to have a different coating than normal scorpions, looking extremely exotic.
For this kiddo to be this nervous…
“This scorpion seems a bit dangerous, so I’ll keep it in here with me for the time being.”
Nannan was angered: “Uncle, Little Lilly is not dangerous at all, that’s my mother’s… No, making it short. You shouldn’t discriminate against a scorpion, you know? Little Lilly is very cute and also my little partner.”
Mo Xian was perplexed, Little Lilly? Just how on earth could someone choose such a weird name for a scorpion?
Ye Xiudu’s eyes twinkled at Nannan’s slip of the tongue, it seemed that the scorpion was related to the kid’s mother. So, it was even more important to keep it from him.
“Mo Xian, take Nannan back to his room to rest.”
“Yes, Lord.”
Mo Xian took some steps forward and lifted the guy by his arms, Nannan tried struggling desperately, swaying his hands and feet, trying to twist his body out of his arms: “You let me down, let me down.”
Mo Xian ignored him. He had already been exhausted by the little guy from all the strolling around all day long. And after putting the kiddo inside his room he still had to report back to his Lord.
Even when Nannan was already a distance away, still his angry protesting voice persisted loud and energetic.
Ye Xiudu patted the black panther on the back and, holding the small vase in his hands he went back to his room at a slow pace.
Wen Tian was already waiting outside of the Solitary Pavilion when he arrived. After seeing him approaching he came and bowed his head a bit: “Lord.”
“Have you investigated it?” Ye Xiudu glanced at him but seeing that his face didn’t seem that good, he gave him permission to sit down. He knew that Wen Tian was previously given a laxative, and his stomach had been troubling him for the whole afternoon.
Wen Tian’s face was pale and hearing Ye Xiudu’s questioning he turned some shades paler. His face turning as white as a ghost’s. “Your subordinate is incompetent. I was unable to find which family Miss Yu belongs.”
There were not many families surnamed ‘Yu’ in Jiang Cheng [1]. But none of them had such a big daughter.
Ye Xiudu tapped his fingers lightly over the table surface. Thinking about that woman who had such unusual medical skills and contemplated on it: “Or, maybe you are investigating in the wrong direction.”
“Does the lord mean that…”
“Maybe she’s not a native from Jiang Cheng, or maybe she isn’t a Miss from a wealthy family.”
Wen Tian’s expression changed, becoming pensive. Not a native from Jiang Cheng? But the accent he heard from Miss Yu was the same as the locals possessed. Besides, the clothing she was wearing is something that only a wealthy family could afford.
However, the Lord’s words are reasonable. Maybe he should try investigating in another direction.
“Your subordinate understands, I shall investigate.”
“Hm” Ye Xiudu waved a hand. When Wen Tian left, he scowled. He always felt like he was overlooking something important in all of this. Maybe there’s something he hadn’t considered yet.
The pain in his chest had reduced by a lot. That girl surnamed Yu was really capable. The medicine she prescribed him seemed to be effective in relieving his pain. Comparing to her, Wu Dong was undoubtedly much inferior in terms of medical skills.
“Lord…”
As he was thinking such, Mo Xian’s voice sounded from outside.
Ye Xiudu eyes raised to meet Mo Xian’s pale face, as if he wanted to say something but didn’t know how to. His face opened in realization, just thinking about that lawless kiddo made his expression grow sterner.

[1] – In the future, instead of writing ‘City of Jiang’, I’ll keep the ideogram ‘Cheng’ for city in Chinese to be more pleasant to read it. As this is my first project, I’m still adapting to which terms should I leave in Chinese (using Pinyin) and which ones are better to translate.
