Chapter 19: Fellow Student, You're Quite Arrogant, Aren't You?

After congratulating Tang Chong, Li Qiang turned his gaze to everyone and said with a smile, "You should already know that the first month of entering university is the military training month. This is a task, and no one can avoid it. Moreover, unless there are special circumstances, my personal suggestion is that you should grit your teeth and persevere, whether you are a boy or a girl. If you can persevere, this month might bring you great rewards."

"So, try not to take sick leave to avoid military training. Also, my approval is very strict. Without a sufficient reason, I won't approve it. Military training starts tomorrow, and the instructors from the military have already arrived. Tomorrow morning at eight o'clock, gather on the playground. You must wear your military uniforms and don't be late."

"Alright. Now, ten boys come with me to the logistics management department to collect our department's military uniforms." Li Qiang glanced around and said, "Let the boys in the last row come with me. You sit so far back that my nearsighted eyes can't see clearly, and we can get to know each other better on the way."

Amidst the laughter of the crowd and the groans of the boys in the last row, the meeting ended.

Tang Chong and Li Yu walked ahead, and Hua Wuxie, panting, caught up.

"Why are you running so fast?" Hua Ming said.

"I thought you would bring a rabbit," Tang Chong said with a smile.

"Hehe. I've already found out that most of the new students in our department are boys, and the few girls aren't particularly pretty, so I didn't waste my energy on that," Hua Wuxie said shamelessly.

"Is that so?" Tang Chong thought for a moment and realized he hadn't really noticed if there were any pretty girls in the class.

"Hehe, I definitely won't make a mistake on this," Hua Wuxie said proudly. "I've already evaluated each one. Considering we're classmates, the best one can only score 75 points. You have to go to the Literature Department or the Business Management Department to find real beauties. Our department and the Civil Engineering Department are both 'hard cases.'"

"With a rabbit in hand, you don't have to worry about finding a girlfriend," Tang Chong said. "It's me and Li Yu who are in danger."

"Hey, as roommates, how can I stand by and watch you suffer?" Hua Wuxie patted Tang Chong's shoulder magnanimously and said, "At worst, I can lend you my rabbit for a few days."

"Let's not. I'm afraid I can't resist cutting a few carrots and stewing it," Tang Chong quickly refused. Carrying a rabbit out would be harder for him than admitting he was 'Tang Xin.'

"Then let's not," Hua Wuxie quickly changed the subject. "My happiness depends on this rabbit. If you stew it, I'll have to raise another one. By the way, do you know who Liang Tao is?"

"No idea," Tang Chong shook his head.

"I know," Hua Wuxie said proudly. "Do you think I really wanted to go drinking with that LV display stand? I just wanted to get some information out of him. No wonder this guy is so rich; his father is the mayor of Huaihua City. He doesn't even have to buy his own clothes; they're all gifts from others. Do you know how much we spent on lunch today?"

He held out a large hand and said, "Almost five thousand. A bottle of Maotai costs over two thousand. Although I knew it was fake from the first sip, the money spent was real."

"He's quite generous," Tang Chong said with a smile.

"There's a reason for that," Hua Wuxie said in a low voice. "Although he didn't say it outright, I know he wants to isolate you. If I'm not mistaken, he must have invited Li Yu to dinner too, right?"

"He did," Li Yu said softly. "I was full. I didn't go."

"That's it. There are only four of us in the dorm. If he pulls me and Li Yu to his side, you'll be left alone. With three people against you, how can you live here?"

"You must have disappointed him," Tang Chong said.

"Hey, it's also his fault for being too naive. University isn't high school. In high school, treating someone to a meal of 'Kaifeng cuisine' could win over a classmate. In university, playing that game is just asking for trouble. What he's doing will only isolate himself," Hua Wuxie said disdainfully.

"Kaifeng cuisine?"

"KFC. Don't you know?" Hua Wuxie said with disdain. "But now that you've been taken in by the dean, he'll probably be more careful around you. You're really lucky. You didn't see how many people were envious of you. I was envious too. Not counting today's lunch, you should treat us to dinner tonight as our first roommate gathering in 307."

"Sure," Tang Chong agreed readily. "But I don't have money to buy Maotai."

"Hey, we're all poor students. We don't care about that. If the conversation isn't good, even the finest delicacies are hard to swallow. If the conversation is good, beer and peanuts can be very satisfying. I saw a campus restaurant at the school gate when we went out. Let's go there," Hua Wuxie said.

"Alright, the campus restaurant it is," Tang Chong nodded.

When they returned to the dorm, Liang Tao was already back.

More surprisingly, he even greeted Tang Chong with a smile, saying, "Tang Chong, congratulations. Being the dean's student means a bright future. We, your classmates and roommates, will rely on you for help and support."

"It's just good luck," Tang Chong said. Indeed, that was the reason.

He had come to Nanjing University alone, with no one to accompany him. So, his attention was on the local customs and culture. When he reached the school gate and the school motto stone, he stood there and recited it twice, which allowed him to answer the dean's question.

If he had been accompanied by his parents, he would have been too busy talking to them to pay attention to such things.

Of course, what surprised Tang Chong even more was that the school motto was on the admission letter. How could no one remember it? Were they all staring at the school's image ambassador in a white shirt with a full chest?

"Luck is also a kind of ability," Liang Tao flattered. "Today is a great day. First, because we met among the thousands of students at Nanjing University. We have the fortune to live in the same dorm and will be roommates for four years. Second, Tang Chong has been taken in by the dean as a disciple. We should celebrate. I'll treat you all to a good dinner tonight."

"Hehe, you're too late," Hua Wuxie said with a smile. "On the way back, Tang Chong and I were just discussing going to the campus restaurant."

"Alright, the campus restaurant it is," Liang Tao said. "Tonight, the four of us will have a good drink. By the way, I heard the seniors in other dorms are already out. Who among us is the oldest?"

Everyone reported their ages. Hua Ming, who had been held back in primary and middle school, was the oldest. Tang Chong started school later, so he was the second oldest, becoming the 'second' in the dorm. Liang Tao was the third, and Li Yu was the youngest, not even eighteen yet.

The first day of school was busy yet leisurely.

There wasn't much to do, so everyone was just wandering around.

After a while, Li Qiang brought the male students' military uniforms.

Tang Chong was tall, so he could only wear a large uniform. However, his body was too thin, and the oversized uniform made him look like a scarecrow in a burlap sack.

Hua Ming was tall and muscular, and even the large uniform fit him snugly, making him look like a bodybuilder. Clearly, the designers of the uniforms hadn't considered such a large student.

Li Yu was the opposite of Tang Chong. He chose the smallest uniform, but it still looked like a child's clothes on him. Liang Tao, on the other hand, chose a medium uniform that fit him well, giving him a somewhat heroic appearance.

The four of them admired themselves in the only broken mirror left by the previous senior, preening until it was time for dinner.

There were already many students in military uniforms walking around downstairs, so Tang Chong and the others didn't wear their uniforms to go to the campus restaurant. Instead, they changed into their regular clothes.

When they arrived at the campus restaurant, they found a serious problem.

It was the first day of school, and many people had the same idea of having a 'roommate bonding dinner.' When they arrived, the place was already packed.

"Older brother, second brother, let's go to a nearby hotel," Liang Tao frowned. "It's too crowded here."

He wasn't used to eating in such a small place. He only came to ease the tension with them. He didn't expect the place to be so busy.

"Let's wait," Tang Chong said with a smile. "There's a table about to be vacated."

Sure enough, a couple of students who looked like a couple were finishing their meal and preparing to pay.

"I'll go occupy the table," Hua Wuxie wiggled his big butt and ran over.

After the male student paid, Hua Wuxie plopped down in the chair and turned to greet Tang Chong and the others.

Unfortunately, his view was blocked by a wall of people.

"Fellow student, can you let us have this table?" The tall person smiled at Hua Wuxie.

"No," Hua Wuxie refused firmly.

"But we were here first," the person's smile deepened. He didn't expect anyone to refuse his request.

"But the chair is under my butt now," Hua Wuxie said. He wasn't the type to back down easily. "You were here first? If you were here first, why is the chair under my butt and not yours?"

"Fellow student, you're quite arrogant, aren't you?"

"Mutual," Hua Wuxie replied.

"Is that so?"

The person kicked the chair leg, and the plastic leg couldn't withstand the force and snapped.

With a sharp crack and a dull thud, Hua Wuxie fell heavily to the ground.
