Chapter Thirty-Nine: You Didn't Say to Stop at a Point!
Lu Yifei led a few people to discuss with Li Tieshu. They lit several fires in the middle of the basketball court, giving the mixed-gender singing event a bonfire party atmosphere.
The students' material lives were quite impoverished, but their spiritual lives were exceptionally rich. They had young bodies and hearts that refused to be ordinary. A little embellishment could create a romantic atmosphere.
When the fragrant Tang Chong, the fragrant Huaming, the fragrant Liang Tao, and the fragrant Li Yu appeared, the basketball court was already filled with many people.
There were boys and girls from the psychology department. Although the girls were few, they still made the boys' eyes shine. When they looked at each other, the three words they conveyed were: "You get it."
It was unclear whether it was the overwhelming fragrance of the four or the fact that the events of the day had not yet completely subsided. Their arrival attracted a lot of attention.
"Quick, quick. The guys from Room 307 are here. Do you know which one is Tang Chong?"
"The one with glasses. Last time, when the instructor punished us to run, he ran twenty laps with us."
"He doesn't look that impressive. He doesn't seem like someone who can fight well."
Because the instructor was present, everyone still lined up according to their class. This disappointed Huaming and Liang Tao, who had wanted to approach the girls. They thought it was a free activity.
Huaming didn't bring his rabbit, fearing that the instructor would force him to eat it raw in front of everyone after being mocked by the beautiful girl who looked like a porcelain doll. He now had a phobia of eating rabbits raw.
A boy with glasses named Ye Feng, standing to Huaming's left, sniffed and asked, "Huaming, why do you smell so good?"
Huaming proudly sniffed his armpit, grinned, and said, "Because I'm fragrant."
This caused a wave of vomiting sounds in the line.
"Attention!" Li Tieshu shouted loudly. After the boys stood up straight and passed his inspection, he gave orders, "Everyone, march. One, two, three, four. Stop."
When the first row of boys was about to approach the fire, Li Tieshu stopped the line. The female instructor did the same, leading the girls to the opposite side of the fire.
Upon realizing this, the boys' enthusiasm cooled by half. Even with the flames in front of them, they still felt cold.
Separated by the fire, they couldn't even greet each other. "We changed our clothes, put on face cream, used hair gel, and sprayed perfume. Wasn't it all a waste?"
Instructor Li Tieshu knew what everyone was thinking and said with a smile, "I understand your feelings. I know you feel wronged because there are too few girls. But I can't do anything about it. I wish I could go to the art college and bring a few teams over."
"Sir, go. Everyone's happiness depends on you."
"Sir, my good brother, we will always remember you."
"Sir, you're the best."
Li Tieshu waved his hand and said, "I'm afraid I won't come back if I go. These days, women are a scarce resource. The boys in their department will fight me to the death. Anyway, let's not talk about this. Fewer girls mean more intense and interesting competition. Let's start with a song to attract the girls' attention. Don't let the boys from Class 2 and Class 3 outshine us."
"Sir, what song?"
"Let's sing 'Unity is Strength.'"
"Too cliché." The boys all objected.
"Let's sing a song by Lin Youjia. Girls like it. Or a song by Eason Chan."
Li Tieshu nodded and said, "Alright, let's sing Eason Chan's 'Ten Years.'"
The boys groaned again.
Someone suggested that the song was too old and wouldn't attract the girls.
"I only know this one," Li Tieshu said sheepishly. "Let's sing this one. If those two words hadn't trembled, I wouldn't have realized my pain. Ready, go."
If those two words hadn't trembled,
I wouldn't have realized my pain.
No matter how I say it, it won't be a breakup.
Although it was an old song by Eason Chan from many years ago, the beautiful lyrics and sad melody, combined with the boys' heartfelt singing, attracted enthusiastic applause from the girls on the opposite side.
The boys from Class 2 and Class 3 didn't want to be outdone and sang "Love in the Rain" and "Back Shadow" respectively.
Then, a short girl from the girls' side sang "Eighteen Bends on the Mountain Road." Her bright voice and professional performance level ignited everyone's passion. They clapped and cheered wildly. The atmosphere became more harmonious, and more boys and girls took turns to sing, creating wave after wave of excitement.
Finally, it wasn't just singing. Someone performed mouth techniques, someone did a solo crosstalk, someone did street dance, and someone even brought a guitar from the dorm to play "Youth."
At this moment, a sturdy boy from Class 2 stood up.
He smiled honestly and said, "I want to perform kung fu."
"Wow!"
Both boys and girls applauded enthusiastically. For these young people, someone who knew kung fu was quite rare and very popular.
He scratched his head, a bit embarrassed, and said, "Performing alone is too boring and doesn't show the effect. I want to invite someone to practice with me."
"Sir, sir, sir." The students shouted the instructor's name. In their eyes, only the instructor could practice with a kung fu master.
The sturdy boy waved his hands and said fearfully, "I don't dare to practice with the instructor. That would be asking for trouble. It's just for fun. I'll practice with Tang Chong."
"Hehe, Second, this is for you." Huaming poked Tang Chong, who was sitting in front of him, and said with a cold smile.
"Is this guy crazy for fame?" Liang Tao said unhappily. "Second, don't be polite. Beat him so badly his mother won't recognize him."
Li Yu looked at the sturdy boy, whose face was flushed by the fire, and thought deeply.
When the sturdy boy announced that his opponent would be Tang Chong, both boys and girls were excited.
"Tang Chong."
"Tang Chong."
"Tang Chong."
"Tang Chong."
All the students in the department shouted Tang Chong's name, getting louder and more urgent.
Tang Chong knew he couldn't stay low-key anymore.
When Instructor Li Tieshu learned who Tang Chong was, he also joined the students in shouting. He had always remembered this new student and was looking forward to his performance.
Unfortunately, Tang Chong just shook his head and said, "I've been training all day. I'm very tired. Find someone else. Besides, I only know how to fight, not kung fu."
Most of the people in prison were fighting maniacs. They knew the human body very well and knew which moves or attacks could cause the most damage.
However, these moves were all developed through street fights and lacked systematic training and continuous actions. Tang Chong wasn't sure if they counted as kung fu.
Tong Shangwu didn't want to give up and said, "Everyone is waiting. Do you want to disappoint your classmates? Besides, we also want to know if what happened at noon was true."
Tong Shangwu used a provocation tactic, implying that if Tang Chong couldn't even accept a challenge from one person, how could he have fought six?
Tang Chong remained unmoved. He didn't care if others believed him. He didn't think the incident would bring him much pride.
"Those who don't know might think you're just boasting. Of course, I believe you. That's why I'm here to help you prove it."
Tang Chong's eyes narrowed.
He didn't care about the provocation, but he didn't like being mocked. He especially disliked this seemingly honest person using such tricks.
With a slight effort, Tang Chong sprang up from the ground.
The moment he stood up, the shouting in the crowd strangely stopped.
"Second, take off your glasses and give them to me," Huaming said, worried that the glasses would hinder Tang Chong's performance.
"No need," Tang Chong refused. "If I take off my glasses, I might not find his nose."
"Good. Flatten his nose," Liang Tao said, clenching his fist.
Tang Chong smiled, walked out of the line, and stood in the middle of the fire, between the boys' and girls' lines.
"What's your name?" Tang Chong asked with a smile.
"Tong Shangwu," the sturdy boy replied with a simple smile.
"Since you already know, I don't need to introduce myself," Tang Chong said. "Can we start?"
"Please," Tong Shangwu gestured.
"You first," Tang Chong said. He didn't attack first but stood still, waiting for Tong Shangwu to make the first move. Since he had the courage to perform and challenge him, Tang Chong was curious about his confidence.
Hearing this, Tong Shangwu stood with his feet shoulder-width apart, his second toes pulling inward and backward, and his hips pulling inward. He took a stance called "Two-Toe Clamping Yang Horse."
After a brief preparation, he quickly advanced.
His hands moved like snakes, quickly slapping toward Tang Chong's face.
"Ving Tsun," Tang Chong said softly.
Ving Tsun is known for its fast hand techniques. Tong Shangwu's speed was astonishing, and his attacks were both offensive and defensive. Tang Chong estimated he had at least ten years of practice.
When Tong Shangwu's hand was about to slap his face, Tang Chong sidestepped and punched his side ribs while kneeing his leg bone.
Tong Shangwu was shocked!
It was just a friendly match, but Tang Chong used a killing move.
If his punch hit the ribs or his knee hit the leg bone, Tong Shangwu would not only have to admit defeat but also need three months to recover.
A hundred days to heal broken bones.
Tang Chong's counterattack also enraged Tong Shangwu. He originally wanted to help a friend and embarrass Tang Chong in front of the whole department. Now that Tang Chong didn't know his limits, he decided to hold nothing back.
After retreating, he charged again.
His left hand turned into a supporting hand, and his right hand, in a "Sun" fist, aimed for Tang Chong's head.
Tang Chong wanted to break his bones, and Tong Shangwu wanted to turn Tang Chong into a pig's head.
These two young men were filled with a killing aura.
The students watching were excited and shouting, while the instructors, though not experts in martial arts, were all serious, seeing the force and targets of their attacks.
Li Tieshu was the first to react, shouting, "Stop! Both of you, stop!"
Unfortunately, it was too late.
Tang Chong's body was slightly bent, like a leopard about to pounce.
When Tong Shangwu charged at him, he counterattacked, grabbing his waist and kicking him to the ground.
Before Tong Shangwu could counter, Tang Chong punched his nose.
Crack!
The sound of the broken nose and the spurt of blood echoed.
Bang!
Tang Chong punched his eye, blinding him and making him lose the strength to struggle from the pain.
Tang Chong wanted to land another punch, but he was held back by the instructors.
So, he could only regretfully say to the fallen Tong Shangwu, "I'm really sorry. You didn't say to stop at a point. I was afraid you would hit me, so I hit you first."
