In the fifth class, the students began to whisper among themselves due to the news about Bill, excitement and anticipation mingling on their faces. However, the noble children, the children of wealthy merchants, and the children of prosperous farmers were clearly divided.
In fact, among the noble children, Colin's status was also marginalized. He and Bill were merely keeping each other company.
Firstly, the Russel family had not produced an extraordinary person for a long time, and Colin's bloodline had significantly degenerated. In terms of talent, Colin was barely satisfactory.
Secondly, the Russel family was economically struggling, to the point of not even having servants. Colin lacked the financial means to socialize with his classmates, such as attending parties, dinners, and dances. Although he had received a few invitations, he had to decline them due to his financial constraints. Over time, he naturally became marginalized.
The whispers in the fifth class abruptly stopped when Lady Anna entered. Lady Anna was a woman in her late twenties with long brown hair. Her features were very distinct, possessing a neutral beauty, but her figure was incredibly attractive. Due to her age, she had a charm that lay between a young girl and a mature woman.
She was very powerful, a formidable female knight, and a specially appointed female teacher at the academy, as well as the homeroom teacher of the fifth class.
Lady Anna was very efficient. After she came to the podium, she simply said, "Follow me."
The students, reminded of the news about Bill, immediately became excited and eager. They stood up and followed Lady Anna out of the classroom and the teaching building.
They walked along a path paved with cobblestones to a building that resembled a longhouse. A squad of formal knights guarded the entrance. Lady Anna went up to the knights and had a brief conversation with them before turning to look at the students of the fifth class and walking in with her long legs.
Colin and Bill walked side by side, following the other students into the longhouse. Inside, there was only a corridor with two rows of rooms on either side.
The students lined up neatly, and Lady Anna, with her hands on her ample chest, said calmly, "From your expressions, it seems you have already received the information. I won't say much more. The bloodline potion and strength attribute potion are already in the rooms. The doors are labeled, so you can go in on your own. Remember to read the precautions before taking the potion."
"Understood, Lady Anna," the students said in unison. Many of the male students, driven by their hormones, secretly glanced at Lady Anna's chest but quickly averted their gaze, like startled kittens.
The students then dispersed, searching for the rooms with black doors and metal handles. Colin and Bill searched together, and Colin found the room with his name on it first.
"Good luck, Colin."
"Good luck to you too, Bill."
They wished each other luck, and Colin turned the metal handle, opened the door, and went in, closing the door behind him.
This was a windowless room with no furniture. There was only a lit oil lamp. The walls and floor were made of stone. On the ground was a long, round glass container filled with a blood-red liquid, which had a magical allure.
Colin's gaze was immediately drawn to it, and his heart rate quickened.
"This is the bloodline potion. If the system doesn't work, this will be the potion that changes my fate."
Colin's breathing became rapid, but he quickly adjusted it to calm himself down. His gaze shifted slightly and focused on a yellowed piece of paper.
Colin picked up the paper, which was written in the empire's language with ink.
"Lowest-grade bloodline potion."
"After consumption, there is a 90% chance of enhancing the bloodline."
"The taste is very bitter; drink it in one go."
"After consumption, severe pain and spasms will occur. The intense pain may cause unconsciousness. Staying conscious will increase the chances of success, while unconsciousness will likely lead to failure."
"Additionally, removing your school uniform will make your breathing smoother."
Colin memorized the text and repeated it in his mind many times. "Absolutely cannot lose consciousness." Then, he took a deep breath and bent down to pick up the glass container.
"There is a possibility of failure." Colin hesitated for a moment but quickly took off his shirt, jacket, and shoes, leaving only his trousers, revealing a well-built upper body, especially his well-developed chest muscles.
After folding his clothes and placing them on the ground, Colin opened the black stopper, preparing to take the potion. At that moment, a cold voice sounded in his ear.
"Ding. Energy source detected, 2 points of energy can be collected. 2 points of energy can be converted into 1 bloodline point, 2 attribute points, or 2 skill points."
Colin was slightly taken aback but then his face lit up with joy. Finally, the system had come back to life. He quickly opened the attribute panel and noticed some changes.
Colin Russel
Occupation: Apprentice Knight
Vitality: 2
Intelligence: 5
Strength: 3 (+1)
Agility: 3
Bloodline: Black Bear Bloodline (Diluted) [Note: 1 bloodline point required for enhancement]
Bloodline Effect: Strength +1
Skills: Rol Military Swordsmanship (Basic) [Note: 1 skill point required for enhancement], Horsemanship (Proficient) [1 skill point required for enhancement]
Unassigned Attribute Points: 0 [Note: 1 energy can be converted into 1 attribute point]
Unassigned Skill Points: 0 [Note: 1 energy can be converted into 1 skill point] [Note: Skill points can also be used to learn skills]
Unassigned Bloodline Points: 0 [Note: 2 energy can be converted into 1 bloodline point]
Energy: 0 [Note: Energy can be converted into attribute points, skill points, or bloodline points. Unused attribute points, skill points, and bloodline points can also be converted into energy]
[Note: All magic items can be used to collect energy]
Status: Healthy
Colin looked at the changed system interface and suddenly understood. So, this is how energy collection and usage work.
He then thought for a moment, and the corners of his mouth curled up slightly. This seems like an easy choice? Collecting the energy from the bloodline potion can add 1 bloodline point, and 1 bloodline point can enhance the bloodline.
The bloodline potion might fail to enhance the bloodline, and the energy can also be converted into attribute points or skill points.
"Collect energy," Colin said to himself. Immediately, the liquid in the glass container in his hand disappeared, and the energy bar in the system interface changed to 2.
Colin's heart raced, and he instinctively said, "Convert the energy into bloodline points."
Thus, the unassigned bloodline points in the system changed to 1.
Following his original line of thought, Colin planned to use the bloodline point to enhance his Black Bear Bloodline. However, for some reason, he converted the bloodline point back into 2 points of energy.
Enhancing the bloodline would directly boost his strength, but energy could be converted into skill points, which could be used to learn skills. He currently lacked not only strength but also financial resources.
Moreover, in Will City, there were rarely dangerous situations. The immediate boost in strength would have limited impact. However, if he learned a skill, he could earn money, buy magic items, collect energy, and repeat the cycle, thereby infinitely enhancing his strength.
