Hearing the Grand Duke of Vampires' words and the disgust in his tone, Blade pulled the corners of his mouth in displeasure and mocked, "It seems he is helping me. Maybe I should give him a salary."
When Blade saw the man named Chadnomah, he had an inexplicable liking for him. The Grand Duke of Vampires was right; both were anomalies among vampires. From this perspective, he and Blade were truly the same kind.
Anomalies among vampires, what else could they be? Although their characteristics were different, at least Blade wouldn't have the bizarre ability to stretch his mouth like a chrysanthemum.
"You didn't catch the key point, Blade Warrior!" Nisha, still on guard beside her father, explained for him. "The reason my father mentioned this anomaly is because he is a cancer among the vampire race."
"Those vampires he feeds on don't die; they turn into new carriers, spreading at a faster rate!"
"And their condition is even worse than that of vampires," Kaelo said in a very professional manner. "Their thirst for blood is much more intense than the bloodlust of vampires, like those who are almost irrational from drug use. They have an abnormal craving for blood, almost every day."
"The guy named Chadnomah has been around for over 72 hours," Kaelo controlled the holographic device, showing images of attacks in different places. "At the very least, there are now a dozen new R anomalies. Although you are both anomalies, his reproduction rate is much faster than yours."
"Within this week, there could be hundreds of new R anomalies, and within this month, thousands. They are not vampires; no one controls their growth. Think about it, how long would it take for them to eat the entire New York if you don't act? Three months? Six months?"
Kaelo said this with a serious and malicious tone, but the few humans present didn't find it funny. The speed at which this new vampire species was spreading was already terrifying. If it really spread, it would be a disaster for humans.
New York is the largest city in the United States and the most populous city, with nearly nine million residents from various countries and races. If the vampire anomalies spread, it would be a scene no one wanted to see.
A city full of vampires, especially ugly, mad, and bloodthirsty vampire anomalies, a dead city under the sunlight. If this happened, it would not only shock the United States but the entire world.
Zhou Yi turned to look at Blade and found that Blade was also looking at him. Two people who had never met before nodded in unison.
Blade turned to the Grand Duke of Vampires and asked, "I want to clarify one thing. You called us here to hunt him for you?"
The Grand Duke of Vampires glanced at the Dawn Knight, who was also watching him, and said solemnly, "No, not for me, but for you. Think about it, once the vampires are severely injured and go into hiding, who will they seek to satisfy their bloodlust? Your precious humans? Unlike us, ordinary humans might not survive against these anomalies."
Although these words sounded like a threat, both Zhou Yi and Blade had to admit that they were true. Ordinary humans had a hard time surviving against vampires, let alone these more powerful vampire anomalies. Their contagious nature made the situation even more terrifying.
Seeing the serious expressions of the two vampire hunters, the Grand Duke of Vampires continued to increase their stakes.
"I have an elite guard, the Blood Clan Guard, a top-tier tactical team composed of precious pure-blooded vampires, the best protection force for this vampire empire. I will have them assist you in hunting these anomalies."
The Grand Duke of Vampires patted his daughter's shoulder.
"Furthermore, I will send my most beloved daughter, the future ruler of my empire, the future Duchess of Vampires, Nisha Makinos, to join you as part of this hunting team. I believe this should demonstrate our sincerity."
After saying this, he looked at the Dawn Knight, the biggest variable in the room.
"I will join." A steady voice came from behind the mask, indicating that the Dawn Knight was willing to hunt the vampire anomaly. Despite many assumptions, the Grand Duke of Vampires still breathed a sigh of relief after getting the answer he wanted. He hadn't experienced the feeling of breathing for a long time.
"Then, I will join too. Hunting vampires is my specialty," Blade showed his white teeth and smiled coldly. In his eyes, everyone present was prey, though they would be future prey.
"Very good." The Grand Duke of Vampires smiled and staggered towards the high chair. "Very good. I think we have reached an agreement. So, Nisha, please escort these guests out. I need to rest."
"Yes, Father!" Nisha coldly walked up to Zhou Yi and made a stiff gesture, inviting him to leave. At this moment, the vampire beauty was filled with anger towards Zhou Yi.
Zhou Yi was a bit helpless about this. He had some affection for the vampire beauty, but he wasn't ready to accept other vampires. His sensitive senses made him naturally dislike the decaying Grand Duke of Vampires. He couldn't suppress his nature for a woman, which wasn't realistic or in line with his principles.
So he didn't say anything more and followed Nisha out. Blade, of course, didn't want to stay in this place and followed with his two subordinates.
On the way out, Zhou Yi remained silent. He didn't know what to say to the angry vampire woman. However, Blade didn't care about this and asked a question he was very interested in.
"Blood Clan Guard, I've been hunting you for a long time. Why have I never heard of this?"
An elite tactical team of vampires, as a seasoned vampire hunter, he had never heard of it, which was ridiculous.
It was like the United States and Afghanistan going to war, and Afghanistan not knowing about the U.S. Marine Corps or the Navy SEALs, which was suicidal. However, they might not have known, as Saddam Hussein, the freedom fighter, was captured this way.
Since the cards were already on the table, Nisha, who knew the inside story, didn't want to hide anything and directly told him the truth.
"Three years ago, you went to Russia. We gathered elite warriors from all over the United States and formed this tactical team. The purpose was to hunt you."
Blade was hunting vampires, and the vampires were hunting Blade. Their hatred had reached a point where they would not stop until one of them was dead. In fact, if not for this special situation, Blade and the vampires would never have sat down to negotiate.
After escorting Blade and the Dawn Knight to the door, Nisha, as Zhou Yi expected, turned and left directly. She had no intention of being considerate and seeing them off. Of course, Zhou Yi thought this was a sign of her being petty.
However, she didn't forget her duty. Before leaving, she told Blade that she would bring the Blood Clan Guard to his base the next night. This was not only for Blade but also for the Dawn Knight.
Looking at the petulant beauty, Blade smirked at Zhou Yi, clearly seeing that the super hero known as the Dawn Knight had special feelings for the vampire. Otherwise, he wouldn't have stopped when she intervened. Although he regretted not seeing the Grand Duke of Vampires get beaten up.
Ignoring Blade's teasing, Zhou Yi looked at the night sky. The city didn't stop its noise just because it had passed midnight. He turned to Blade.
"Do you think these guys are reliable?" He didn't trust vampires, but he trusted Blade. Blade was a straightforward and honorable warrior, someone worth trusting.
"I will never trust the sweet talk of vampires, but in this situation, we might really need to cooperate with them." Blade showed his white fangs. "The situation is dire."
"What are you going to do now?"
"Since the ceasefire, at least I don't have to hunt now! I need to go back and prepare some things; those guys might not be easy to deal with." Blade twisted his neck, thinking they might encounter an army of vampire anomalies, so he needed to prepare some powerful weapons.
"I will go into the city to see if I can find any clues. Blade, where should I find you?" Sensing the urgency of the situation, Zhou Yi decided to give up his rest time. He wanted to see if the vampire anomalies had already spread among the population.
Blade naturally didn't oppose this. For the Dawn Knight, he recognized only one thing: this guy had enough power. He wasn't worried about such a powerful person, and if there were any findings, it would be good for everyone.
"Brooklyn trolley abandoned terminal." Leaving an address, Blade waved and led his two assistants into the night.
Zhou Yi, on the other hand, leaped into the air and began to investigate the hidden evils and secrets of the city as the Dawn Knight.
Despite their seemingly orderly actions, both knew that the next few days could bring serious accidents, and they needed to be prepared for the worst.
Meanwhile, in the most chaotic part of Manhattan. This area was home to the lowest of society: thugs, gangsters, prostitutes, and drug dealers. Few people willingly came to such a place, and those who did usually had various dirty needs.
The people here would satisfy their needs because they knew that once they satisfied them, the clients would come back again and again until they were drained of every last bit of value. They were like leeches, feeding on the blood of those foolish clients until a new, more valuable one appeared.
But the situation was different now. Compared to these metaphorical leeches, real blood-sucking creatures had already infiltrated their midst.
