Chapter 33

Dawn Knight descended from the sky and stopped a speeding armored car on 9th Avenue in Manhattan. The driver of the armored car, seeing the figure ahead, did not slow down or brake. Instead, he stepped on the gas, using his unique way to tell the person blocking the road that he had no intention of stopping.

It was this determination that drew the crazy pursuit of two police cars behind. They would certainly do more than just issue a ticket when they caught up with the driver.

Faced with such a stubborn driver, Dawn Knight, as a model citizen, could only take the most practical action to tell him the importance of obeying traffic rules and not robbing banks.

Just as the armored car was about to touch him, he extended a hand and pressed it against the hood. It was as if time had been paused; the armored car, which had been speeding at 80 miles per hour, suddenly stopped. Although the wheels were still spinning wildly, even creating thick smoke on the asphalt, it could not move forward another inch.

A somewhat bald driver poked his head out of the right window, holding a gun at the person blocking the road, but he did not fire. It was clear that he was in a very conflicted state of mind.

Seeing the driver's conflicted expression, Zhou Yi couldn't help but grin. He formed a gun with his empty left hand and aimed at the rearview mirror on the car door, pretending to shoot.

An invisible force immediately acted on the rearview mirror, distorting the glass, plastic, and metal into a baseball-sized solid piece of trash.

Seeing this, the driver's face turned even more grim. He swallowed a large mouthful of saliva, but this action to calm his nerves did not make him feel any better, especially when he saw Dawn Knight point a death finger at him.

To his relief, Dawn Knight had no intention of using him as a target. He just raised his hand, pointed at the gun in the driver's hand, and gently shook his finger.

The bald driver immediately nodded in understanding and threw away the gun. At this moment, the police who had been chasing for more than two blocks finally surrounded the car. They looked at Dawn Knight, who had stopped the car with one hand, and then happily surrounded the right side of the car door.

The bald driver also seemed happy; dealing with the police was more comfortable than dealing with a superhero. At least he didn't have to worry about being beaten to death. Someone like the famous Punisher was known for often killing people.

The bald driver raised his hands obediently and was handcuffed and pushed into a police car. One of the police officers walked up to Zhou Yi.

"Thank you, Dawn Knight. We chased this guy for several blocks." It was a sturdy-looking officer with a gentle smile. He extended his hand, smiling. "My son is your fan. Can I have your autograph? If he knows I got your autograph for him, he'll be very happy."

"Of course." Zhou Yi shook his hand and took the autograph book he offered. "To Billy! You have a loving father." He signed as "Dawn Knight" and added a sun emblem with super speed.

"Thanks, buddy. My son will be very happy to see this." Andrew took the autograph book and immediately beamed.

"Can you do me a favor, Andrew?"

"Of course, it would be an honor." Andrew straightened his police cap and said seriously.

"Can you help me check if there have been any strange occurrences recently, like people disappearing mysteriously? I mean those people you usually don't pay much attention to, like drug dealers, prostitutes, etc."

"Oh, I see what you mean. Let me think..." Andrew put on a thoughtful look. "Now that you mention it, I remember someone saying that the crime rate in the red-light district has improved a lot recently, and the pimps seem to be less active."

At this point, he suddenly asked with renewed energy, "Buddy, is something big about to happen? Do you need our help?"

Zhou Yi shook his head, took a few steps back, and slowly floated up.

"Andrew, this is dangerous. If possible, warn your colleagues to be careful of those lurking in the shadows, and don't go to dark places, especially at night."

"What? Is it a serial killer or a terrorist?" Andrew was confused, thinking Dawn Knight was joking.

"Trust me, it's more dangerous than that." With these words, Zhou Yi flew up and disappeared into the night. Now, he had to go to the red-light district and Fifth Avenue to look for any strange clues.

Andrew raised his hand to his forehead, looking out as Dawn Knight disappeared. Clearly, he was still thinking about what those words meant.

After a while, still puzzled, Andrew scratched the back of his head and turned on the radio on his shoulder.

"Guys, this is Andrew. Is anyone patrolling the red-light district today? Tell them to be careful and not to go to strange places."

"What, where did you get this information? I just talked to Dawn Knight, and he told me something big is about to happen..."

"Let's go to old Allen's bar after work. We can talk over drinks. It's a good night."

Andrew enjoyed the happiness of an ordinary person, while Zhou Yi continued to fulfill his duties as a superhero.

From the initial playful attitude to now truly treating helping the weak and saving lives as his job and responsibility, the transition was not as difficult as he had imagined. When you have extraordinary power, you instinctively use it to do something. Whether for good or evil, it's just a matter of a single thought.

For Zhou Yi, being a superhero, helping others, and making people cheer for his title and be proud of his good deeds was not something hard to accept. On the contrary, it was the source of his endless enthusiasm for being Dawn Knight.

He liked this feeling, the feeling of being admired and worshiped. Although he had to bear extraordinary responsibilities for this feeling, he thought it was worth it. He was born to be like the sun, to be revered and worshiped.

Soaring through the dark night sky, Zhou Yi searched for suspicious targets again and again. But the situation was not as optimistic as he had imagined.

He saw many suspicious signs, such as bloodstains and traces left by attacks, but he saw no survivors. Similarly, he saw no attackers.

Clearly, these vampire mutants had taken the bodies of their victims after attacking them. Or perhaps the bodies had gone with them. In either case, it was not what Zhou Yi wanted to see.

This situation indicated that the vampire mutant named Chadnomah had the ability to control other vampire mutants. He controlled them to leave or to take the attacked individuals. They acted with a plan, not aimlessly expanding.

They hid like ordinary people, making it difficult to find them even with super vision. When they were hiding, they were almost indistinguishable from ordinary people.

Seeing the sky gradually brighten, Zhou Yi gave up the idea of continuing the search. Perhaps he should talk to Blade and the other vampires later to see what they thought. With his mind made up, Zhou Yi flew to the outer sea of Long Island. He needed to rest to prepare for what was to come.

Time always passed quickly on the eve of a major event. The sun seemed to rise and set in a hurry, as if heralding the coming of the age of nocturnal creatures.

The abandoned trolley terminal in Brooklyn, a dilapidated place that looked like a factory, was hard to believe it was Blade's base.

Actually, this was not hard to imagine.

Blade was actually a street kid from a very young age. His mother became a vampire after giving birth to him and went into hiding in the darkness.

Because he had half-vampire blood, he found it difficult to integrate into human life, especially when the urge to drink blood surged.

When the old vampire hunter John Whistler discovered him, he was still hunting wild animals and homeless people, drinking their blood to satisfy his bloodlust.

The old vampire hunter saw Blade's uniqueness and adopted him, starting to train him to hunt vampires. However, a problem arose: an old hunter who had given up his family after his wife's death and lived by hunting vampires had little savings, and Blade, unable to integrate into normal life, could not work to support himself.

The most direct result of these problems was that the two of them could only live in such a terrible environment. Fortunately, over the past decade, the two vampire hunters had transformed the place into a qualified base. At least for hunting vampires, it was qualified.

Of course, it was just qualified. Blade's base had been visited more than once. Especially by vampires. His adoptive father, the old John Whistler, almost died in this base at the hands of vampires. So if Dawn Knight's laboratory base was rated five stars, Blade's base would only get one star. That was still being generous, considering Blade's cold face.

At this moment, Blade was checking his equipment with his two assistants. Strictly speaking, a large part of his abilities came from his equipment. Silver nitrate bullets and explosives provided effective area damage, while silver darts and stakes were prepared for pure-blood vampires.

Pure-blood vampires had stronger vitality and healing abilities than converted vampires, and of course, stronger combat abilities. Silver nitrate sometimes could not kill them, so at such times, Blade would use darts or stakes to pierce their vital points.

Of course, as a skilled combat master, Blade had his favorite weapon: a silver-coated dagger. This dagger had helped him deal with many powerful vampires and made more vampires tremble when they talked about it. The name "Blade" came from this.

One could say that more than half of Blade's skills came from his specialized equipment for hunting vampires. Therefore, he always took the most meticulous care in checking his equipment. A small mistake could lead to an irreparable error. He did not want to make such a low-level mistake.
