Zhou Yi was immensely grateful that the Earth not only orbits the Sun but also rotates on its own axis. This behavior, besides causing the alternation of day and night, most crucially creates the phenomenon of time zones. And this magical time zone difference was extremely important to Zhou Yi.
Although it was already dawn in London, with the sun just rising, it was still dark on the other side of the ocean in New York, where dawn was still a long way off. This was precisely what Zhou Yi had hoped for. If someone like Damaquinus were to survive until the sun rose, it would be the greatest irony for him.
The vast ocean could not hinder his steps; in just a few minutes, he would make Damaquinus taste the bitterness of his wrath. However, did Damaquinus really have that much time left?
In the castle, Yuki was desperately guarding the safety of the elevator. Although his sword skills were already highly refined, he was already struggling to cope with the overwhelming number of mutants. His strength was insufficient to match his resolve.
Even the mightiest lion cannot stand against a pack of hyenas, let alone the more terrifying creatures he faced.
Yuki's long sword fiercely slashed across a mutant's throat, severing the vile weapon before it could even extend its disgusting tongue. At the same time, he pressed his body against another mutant, using the strength of his shoulders and back to pin it against the wall.
The pinned mutant instinctively reached out to grab Yuki, knowing that once caught, it was as good as dead. Yuki paid no heed to its clawing and quickly drew a short knife from his waist, thrusting it through the gap under the mutant's armpit and piercing its heart.
Once he understood the vital points of the mutants, for a master swordsman like Yuki, killing a single mutant was no challenge at all. However, this was not a one-on-one battle but a pack of hungry wolves hunting him.
A mutant behind him had already turned into a blue torch, but before it could completely turn to ashes, other mutants pounced with outstretched arms. For the mutants, the only way to be killed was by striking their vital points. For Yuki, even the slightest injury could be fatal. Every bit of energy lost pushed him closer to death.
However, this was a choice he had no choice but to make. A samurai would never abandon his lord.
Yuki's long sword swung again, easily tearing through the chest of a mutant that pounced at him, but it could not harm the heart. Such damage was meaningless to Yuki.
He pulled back his sword to fend off another mutant's arm. The short knife took advantage of the moment, thrusting into the mutant's jaw, piercing through flesh and brain. Even if it did not kill the mutant, it rendered it unconscious. An unconscious mutant could not even hunt, making it far inferior to Damaquinus's newly created pets.
Yuki kicked the brain-dead mutant away and was about to attack the next opponent when he suddenly felt a heavy weight on his body. A small, agile mutant had already jumped onto him. He had been fighting for too long, and the intense, continuous battle had already blurred his consciousness. He could no longer control the space around him, which was fatal.
A mutant behind him shot out a blood-sucking tongue, which firmly attached to Yuki's neck. Yuki roared, and his short knife sliced across his own neck, cutting off half his ear and the mutant's tongue.
The mutant howled in pain, while Yuki thrust his long sword into the mutant's chest from under his own rib. The hard bone armor made it difficult for the blade to penetrate, but Yuki continued to push the hilt. The long sword began to emit a faint sound, and cracks appeared on it.
The hard bone armor could no longer withstand the sword's penetration. The cold blade broke through the armor's defense and deeply pierced the beating heart. The mutant immediately ignited, and Yuki's long sword, with a light hum, broke in two.
Yuki touched his neck, where the still-bleeding wound caused no pain. This made him realize that the mutant's virus had already entered his body. Looking around, he saw a group of eager mutants, and in the middle, Chadnomas looked at him with disdain.
"My father's loyal dog, how do you feel? Soon you will become my offspring, and then I will see if you can still remain loyal to my father!"
With that, Chadnomas waved his hand. A group of mutants rushed past Yuki and charged towards the elevator. The elevator doors could not withstand the mutants' assault, and soon the deep elevator shaft was exposed.
Yuki gripped his sword, trying to stop the mutants' advance. But the weakness in his body made it impossible for him to even raise his sword. He felt that his path had come to an end. Looking at the broken sword in his hand, Yuki resolutely thrust the blade into his heart. Flames quietly rose, and as he looked at Chadnomas's angry face, he spoke his final words.
"I will die as a samurai, not as a monster."
Chadnomas felt as if flames were licking his heart, the burning pain making him roar. Hearing his scream, the mutants moved even faster, all of them diving into the small elevator shaft, chasing after Damaquinus's direction.
At this moment, a light suddenly appeared in the corridor. It was a brilliant light flame, burning and racing through the narrow space, like a horse galloping from the sun, spreading the sun's light everywhere.
The light from the optical bomb that Vireen detonated before her death was now finally fulfilling its true purpose. All the mutants could only stare blankly as the light swept over them, too fast for them to react.
Chadnomas felt the blinding light from the elevator shaft, instinctively shielding his body. The light that touched him made him feel as if he were in a blazing fire, his entire body burning. When the light dissipated, he ignored his injuries and rushed into the elevator shaft.
What he saw made him roar in madness. All the mutants were gone, turned into flying blue flames by the brilliant light.
"This is impossible, no way!" He slammed his fist into the wall, shattering the castle's bricks, leaving clear marks of destruction. But soon, he shook off this negative emotion and, looking up at the elevator shaft, he snarled.
"Do you think this can stop me, father? Even if I am alone, I will come to you. Just wait."
With that, he rushed into the elevator shaft, using his hands and feet to climb upwards. He had already put everything on the line. Death was not terrifying to him; what was terrifying was that his revenge was just a dream. Revenge had become the most important thing in his life, and for this, risking his life was not something he could not accept.
Chadnomas was madly rushing towards his goal of revenge, while Damaquinus was anxiously trying to leave this place that could end his life at any moment.
Sitting in the rear cabin of the plane, he kept a close eye on any place where mutants might appear, while repeatedly urging his daughter.
"Nisha, Nisha! Hurry up, we need to leave immediately!"
However, despite his repeated urging, Nisha did not appear on the plane. The unmanned plane was no different from scrap metal. Unable to wait any longer, Damaquinus unwillingly left the plane and looked up. He saw a large metal canopy slowly closing.
It was the defense mechanism on the plane's takeoff platform. Without it, the plane could not take off.
"How could this happen? Who did this?" Damaquinus looked like a demon ready to devour someone.
"It was me, father." Nisha slowly emerged from the shadows, walking step by step to Damaquinus's front, looking at him calmly and indifferently, as if she were looking at a stranger.
"Nisha?" Damaquinus shouted in disbelief. "Do you know what you are doing? Are you crazy? You are trying to kill your father, and we will both die here."
"Father, can you still refuse to admit it?" Nisha ignored Damaquinus's questioning, her gaze wandering, her thoughts elsewhere. "Admit all the wrongs you have committed?"
"Those are my rights!" Damaquinus was like a maniac. "I am the master of all this, and I have the right to decide what I should do. You have no right to question what I do. I am the supreme ruler of the vampires."
"Maybe!" Hearing the crawling sound from the ceiling behind her, Nisha no longer wanted to argue with her delusional father. She stepped aside. "Let your son, my brother, hear your explanation."
As she stepped aside, a figure jumped in front of Damaquinus. The heavy impact split the floor, and the dust quickly obscured everything. When the dust settled, Damaquinus saw Chadnomas's ecstatic face.
"Father, I finally found you!"
"Chad?" Seeing his long-lost son, Damaquinus felt no joy, quite the opposite. His aged body slowly retreated, his flustered movements almost causing him to trip. He trembled as he called out his son's nickname, trying to soothe the rage in his son's heart with words.
"You must understand that what happened to you was a terrible tragedy, something that has caused me great pain. It was an unforgivable mistake."
"Is that so, father? Have you recognized your mistake?" Chadnomas approached his aged father, his murky white eyes fixed on him. This gaze made Damaquinus feel a sharp pain. But driven by the will to survive, he still trembled as he reached out to touch his son's grotesque face.
Chadnomas dodged Damaquinus's fingers, but Damaquinus did not give up. He continued to plead with words.
"Now there is a turning point, and we are close to success. Come back to me, my son. We will find a cure, and you will still be my son. I will restore your rightful place."
Saying this, he finally trembled as he embraced his son.
"You will be the prince of my empire, the sole heir to my great empire. Let us conquer the world together."
Hearing this, Chadnomas no longer dodged. He also embraced his father with both hands.
