"Your words are indeed very appealing, Father." Chadenoma clung tightly to Dalmaginos, his grip so strong that it made Dalmaginos' bones ache.
Dalmaginos tried to struggle in terror, but his strength was negligible compared to his son's. Chadenoma lowered his head and pressed it against Dalmaginos' shoulder. This action made Dalmaginos tremble all over, while Chadenoma laughed with a shudder.
"However, Father, can you tell me why your voice trembled when you said those words? Have you been a ruler for so long that you can't even lie anymore?"
Dalmaginos struggled desperately to break free from Chadenoma's grip. He had already realized that Chadenoma had no intention of letting him go. From the beginning, he had only wanted to take revenge on him.
Feeling Dalmaginos' helplessness, Chadenoma laughed bitterly and pressed his head down, his sharp fangs tearing into Dalmaginos' neck savagely. He did not use his strange tongue to infect his father, but instead bit through his artery like a true beast.
"I will give you a true death, not this endless suffering. Thank me, Father. This is my revenge, and the last gift I give you."
Thick green blood flowed out, the concentrated life force of Dalmaginos over a thousand years. This life had now come to an end.
Despite his desperate attempts to cover the wound on his neck, he could not stop the loss of his life. Dalmaginos made one last effort. With his last strength, he staggered towards his daughter, who had been standing there all along.
"Through the transmission of blood, your and my life will continue." Reciting the ancient vampire language, the thick green blood gathered the last of its power, forming crimson letters at Dalmaginos' fingertips. This was one of the oldest spells of the bloodline, a magic used by vampire elders to transfer their life and will to their servants as their bodies were about to die.
According to the ancient laws of vampires, this magic of forcibly occupying a fellow vampire's body could only be used by vampire elders and only on the vampires they had turned. To survive, Dalmaginos no longer cared about such laws. He wanted to be reborn in his daughter's body.
The magic condensed all his life and blood into a drop of emerald essence. He held this drop with his fingertips and, with his last strength, pointed it towards Nissa. When this essence touched Nissa's body, it would merge with her. By the next full moon, he would be reborn in Nissa's body.
This was his last hope for survival, and in the face of this hope, Nissa stepped back without hesitation.
Dalmaginos crawled forward in frustration, trying desperately to touch Nissa's shoes with his fingertips. But just as he was about to touch her, Nissa stepped back again.
"Let this impure bloodline end here, Father." Nissa, Dalmaginos, calmly removed the ring representing the Dalmaginos family from her finger and threw it into the pool of her father's blood.
Dalmaginos' dry throat could no longer produce any sound. He glared at his daughter with venomous eyes, which slowly turned to a stone-like gray. This change was not just in his eyes but throughout his entire body.
Without the essence that condensed all his power, his already decaying body completely collapsed, crumbling into pieces like broken limestone in the cool air, turning to dust.
Having completed his revenge, Chadenoma roared loudly, his voice like that of a wounded beast, filled with pain and despair. Now, there was no goal left in his life. All he could do was wait for the end of his life.
Turning silently, he did not look at the dust on the ground. Chadenoma walked towards the rooftop like a zombie. He wanted to see the sun, something a vampire could never touch, in his last moments.
However, Nissa called out to him.
"Wait, brother!" Her eyes were like still water, showing no ripples.
Chadenoma turned his head, looking at his much luckier sister, wondering what she wanted.
"Kill me, brother!" Nissa lifted her black hair, exposing her white neck to Chadenoma.
Chadenoma sneered.
"Our father struggled desperately to live, clinging to his power forever. Now that you have everything he had, do you want to end it here?"
"The impure bloodline will always flow in my body. If you don't kill me, you can't end everything about the Dalmaginos family."
Chadenoma stopped and turned to ask his sister.
"Have you really decided? Is there nothing you want to cherish?"
"When everything my father built for me turned into a false illusion, I made my decision." Nissa closed her eyes. "I shouldn't have existed from the beginning. The existence of vampires in this world is just a tragedy."
Walking to Nissa, Chadenoma gently touched her face.
"You look like our mother. Maybe you're right. It's time to end this impure bloodline and let you return to our mother's embrace."
Seeing Nissa nod silently, Chadenoma opened his mouth, and his lethal tongue bit into Nissa's neck. The virus entered her body, burning like a hot wire in her veins. The intense pain throughout her body made her lose the ability to move. She could only fall to the ground, limp.
"You have six hours. In six hours, someone will end your life. Think about any regrets you have in your life."
Watching Nissa still convulsing, Chadenoma turned and left quietly. He wanted to find a good place to watch the sunrise.
Nissa lay on the ground, her eyes blankly staring at the dark ceiling. The pain tormented her body, forcing her to let her mind wander, using aimless imagination to reduce the pain.
As she did so, she realized her life was filled with too many regrets. She had never experienced a normal woman's life, shopping, making friends, falling in love, or even getting married and having children. Looking back on her life, she realized she had spent it entirely in the dark castle, surrounded by blood and intrigue.
Perhaps all this was Dalmaginos' fault, but more of it came from her identity. As she thought, vampires in this world might truly be a tragedy.
The sound of crisp footsteps echoed in her ears. Nissa turned her head slightly and saw a black figure.
"Was my father's method so powerful that it could force you into this state?" Nissa asked, because Zhou Yi now looked much worse than before. His cloak was gone, and his armor was twisted and deformed, even cracked. Although the nanometal was constantly repairing, it was like a drop in the bucket for the damaged parts.
"Your father's methods have refreshed my understanding. It's a pity he's dead. Otherwise, I would have explained my inner shock to him personally." Zhou Yi was as light-hearted as ever, though it seemed more like an attempt to make Nissa laugh.
Nissa smiled gently, as if Zhou Yi were talking about someone unrelated. Free from all identity and concerns, she now showed the grace and composure of a woman facing everything calmly.
"It's really a pity. I didn't have the chance to see all of this. There aren't many opportunities to see you in such a state."
Seeing the vampire woman, who knew him best, wither like a flower, Zhou Yi couldn't help but feel a bit of pity. This whole matter had nothing to do with her. Her only mistake was being born into such a family. It was all a mistake of fate.
He bent down, cradling Nissa's head in his arm, and teased her lightly.
"If you can wait, I think you can see what you want in the morning news in London. Although the fight was intense, I didn't stop the photographers from taking pictures."
"Is that so? They must be lucky." Nissa smiled gently, her already pale skin becoming even paler. "Unfortunately, I don't seem to have much time left. Can you tell me what time it is?"
Zhou Yi looked up, feeling the power of the sun. It was usually the time when the sun rises.
Chadenoma's scream of liberation came from above, signaling the complete extinction of a race. He had fulfilled his promise, ending everything after his revenge.
Hearing Chadenoma's last sound in the world, Zhou Yi removed his helmet and said to Nissa.
"It seems unfortunate. Today doesn't seem to be a good day. Your brother is already shouting in anger."
Nissa tried to smile, but the pain in her body made it impossible. She could only force a slight tug at the corners of her mouth and said to Zhou Yi.
"It sounds ridiculous, but in the end, I feel that you are the only friend in my life."
"Although I have high standards for friends, congratulations, I recognize you as a friend." It was not out of lust for her beauty but a genuine friendship that made Zhou Yi try to bring her joy in her last moments.
"Is that so? That's good." Nissa blinked. "Then, my heroic friend, can you do one thing for me?"
"Let's hear it. I can't do anything too difficult." His tone was always playful, but it was heavy with seriousness. "I want to see the sun in a beautiful place, while I still look beautiful. Can you do that for me?"
Nissa's request was impossible for him to refuse. He picked her up in a princess carry and gently flew up. A light-bending force field blocked the sun's rays, and he flew higher and higher, gradually disappearing into the clouds. After a long time, at an altitude of millions of feet, Zhou Yi stopped with Nissa in his arms. Below them was the magnificent blue Earth, and in the distance, the golden sun embraced everything. Although using his mental power to protect someone at such a distance from Earth was a huge challenge, he did it without hesitation.
This was the only thing he could do for a friend about to leave.
"Beautiful!" Looking at the golden sun and the blue Earth, Nissa exclaimed. "It's enough. Thank you, my friend. If there is a next life, I hope to meet you as a human. And, you can let go now."
Seeing Nissa's closed eyes, Zhou Yi slowly opened his hand. Her gentle body left his embrace and floated in the endless space. The sunlight shone on her, and a dark blue flame wrapped around her body like a long dress. Slowly, slowly, until she disappeared.
Zhou Yi watched silently as she vanished completely. He didn't know how he felt. The weight of fate pressed heavily on his heart, making him feel powerless for the first time.
Collecting his thoughts, he dove into the Earth. The judgment of dawn had not yet ended. For the sake of this departed friend, he had to bring this tragedy to a complete end.
