"Is this it?"

Before I knew it, I had added the word "die" to the wall. Of course, it was directed at Barisas. The previous person must have written it for him too. I can understand the struggle.

Then, I put the request in my chest and got ready. Now that it's come to this, I'll go all the way. I'll show that guy what I'm made of.

I left the room to complete what seemed like an easy request. As I went down the stairs and through the first-floor lobby, an adventurer tried to trip me. Is this a delinquent school or what? I smoothly avoided it and headed for the exit.

"Hey, wait up?"

I heard a voice from behind but ignored it. I don't have time to deal with this. I left the guild with a burst of energy.

"First... there are six 'Herb Gathering' requests."

This is a request I did to death during my adventurer days. It's low in difficulty and the reward is small, so no one wants to take it. However, by doing this, I can gain knowledge about healing potions. Knowing which herbs are used in which potions, this request isn't as trivial as it seems.

I gain knowledge and get paid. It's also very safe. There shouldn't be a better request than this. ...Why hasn't it been completed?

I went out of town and ran to the forest, using a skill I hadn't used in a while.

"Search!!"

This is a skill to find what you're looking for, one I obtained early on. With this, I can find herbs easily.

"There they are."

Before long, I collected the required number of herbs. I stored them using spatial magic. Next...

"Fifteen Slime Magic Stones. ...Yeah, this is a hassle."

Slimes are monsters that only appear under certain conditions and don't reappear for a while after they do.

"Well, I'll just take them from my stock."

During my adventurer days, I secretly bred slimes to study under what conditions they appeared. As a result, I have over a thousand slime magic stones in stock. It might have been a bit overboard, but playing with slimes was a lot of fun.

"Next, 'Wall Repair.' ...They should just hire a craftsman."

It was a job to repair the wall surrounding the town. I hurried to the site and saw a "No Entry" sign, confirming that the wall was indeed crumbling.

The nearby area is a forest where monsters lurk, which is why the request came to the Adventurer's Guild.

"Here we go!"

I fixed it instantly with earth magic. The wall was repaired in a flash.

"Next... 'House Repair.' There are four of them! ...These people are asking the wrong people for help."

I returned to town and went to the houses with requests, map in hand. I fixed them all with earth magic, and everyone was surprised. ...Why, I wonder?

One of the four had already been repaired by another craftsman.

"You guys took too long, so I paid a lot to get it fixed!!"

I was scolded by the homeowner. I bowed and apologized, and gave the owner about ten magic stones as compensation.

In this world, magic stones are essential for daily life. They can be imbued with attributes; a water attribute magic stone can produce water, and a fire attribute one can start a fire. I'm the son of a blacksmith, so I can handle such processing. Therefore, as long as I have magic stones, I've been giving them to people I've inconvenienced or helped.

Well, I have more magic stones than I know what to do with, so I'm fine for now. The homeowner was happy to receive them.

"The remaining four... are night requests. That's all I can do for now."

I decided to put off the other requests and return to the guild for the time being.
