Chapter 82

After entering the cave, Wang Yong first buried a box of explosives at the entrance, along with two 150mm mortar shells and a pressure-activated landmine. He then used a stone to press down on the landmine and immediately waved his hand, signaling the pile of rocks from digging the jade to block the cave entrance, sealing off the passage for over ten meters. He estimated that even if those people used explosives, it would take them a while to break through. Moreover, if the explosives dislodged the stone on the landmine, triggering it, the box of explosives and the two 150mm mortar shells would certainly leave nothing alive within a hundred meters.
In the base's hall, Wang Yong found the officer who was bandaging his comrades with a first-aid kit. He told the officer that he had set up a trap and blocked the cave entrance with rocks, making it temporarily safe. To his surprise, the officer saluted Wang Yong and said, "Lieutenant Wang Ting of the border inspection station, thank you for your help. Please take care of my comrades; I must go out and report the detailed information about these people to my superiors."
Wang Yong, with a look that suggested he had expected this, said, "There's another cave entrance on the other side of the mountain. We can go out from there and block their retreat. You can also contact your superiors, but in this deep forest, it might not be possible."
Wang Ting realized that they were deep in the forest, and the radio he had brought could not reach his superiors. However, if he did not contact his superiors, and these people entered the country, many more people could be harmed by drugs. In a hurry, Wang Ting suddenly saw a Japanese grenade launcher on the ground and immediately had an idea. He ran over, picked one up, and was stunned. It was so rusted that it was unusable. What should he do?
As Wang Ting was checking the grenade launchers on the ground, Wang Yong approached the injured police officer and, without Wang Ting noticing, diluted a drop of the elixir of life into a bottle of mineral water and made him drink it.
Soon, the man regained consciousness. Wang Yong quickly made him drink a few more sips and then called over Wang Ting, who was rummaging through the debris.
"Brother Wang, he's awake."
Hearing Wang Yong's words, Wang Ting immediately came over and asked anxiously, "Xiangzi, how are you feeling? Can you hold on?"
Xiangzi struggled to open his mouth and said in a weak voice, "Lieutenant Wang, I'm fine. I've already reported the situation to the superiors, but I was shot before I could finish. I believe our people will be here soon, but I'm afraid these guys will escape."
"Don't talk anymore, rest for a while. Don't worry, they won't escape." Wang Ting then pulled Wang Yong aside and asked, "Is everything in here just junk? Is there anything usable? I need to make some noise to guide the troops."
"There is! It's inside. I'll show you. Look, the guns I'm carrying are all brand new. I fired several shots, and there's no problem at all," Wang Yong said, patting the Bren light machine gun in his hand.
"Not that, I need a cannon, preferably a large-caliber one, to make a big noise. Otherwise, it won't be heard from far away," Wang Ting explained urgently.
"No problem, there are several American 105mm howitzers inside that should still be usable. How about that? The noise is loud enough, right?"
Wang Ting rolled his eyes and said irritably, "Can we even move them with just the two of us? Do you have anything lighter, like a grenade launcher?"
Wang Yong thought to himself, how can we not move them? I can pull one by myself. But he didn't say this out loud, or he would be considered a monster.
"How about a mortar?" As soon as Wang Yong said this, Wang Ting, without a word, pulled him inside. When Wang Yong led him to a cave storage area and opened a wooden box, they saw a brand new American 82mm mortar. Without a word, Wang Ting picked up the barrel and stand and started to carry them out. He only remembered he hadn't taken the shells when he reached the cave entrance and had to return. He saw Wang Yong carrying a box of shells and the base plate in his other hand.
The two followed the cave to the other exit, carefully observed, and then crawled out of a small opening. They chose a flat area, set up the mortar, and Wang Ting immediately looked through the sight and started turning the crank. After a short while, he nodded to Wang Yong. Wang Yong immediately threw a mortar shell into the barrel and then covered his ears and crouched down.
Then, the scene from earlier occurred. The shell hit accurately, sending two drug dealers flying into the air, disintegrating them into pieces. After firing the shell, Wang Ting insisted that Wang Yong return to the cave, especially after the drug dealers discovered them and opened fire, nearly hitting both of them. Reluctantly, Wang Yong left the Bren light machine gun with Wang Ting, gave him five magazines, and threw another shell into the barrel. Without waiting to see if it hit, he reluctantly crawled back into the cave.
This was a real battle with live ammunition, something most people never encounter. As a man, Wang Yong had been influenced by patriotic war movies since childhood. He wanted to fire a few shots and, ideally, eliminate a few enemies. Unfortunately, he couldn't. When he crawled back into the cave and saw Wang Ting being pinned down by the drug dealers' heavy fire, his anger flared up.
So, you think you can bully us with your numbers and firepower? You'll regret it. Wang Yong made up his mind.
Seeing Wang Yong safely in the cave, Wang Ting confidently engaged the mercenaries descending the mountain. Bullets flew everywhere, tearing through the grass and trees, and raising dust. Basong had only brought two men down the mountain, leaving the rest with Scorpion because they didn't know how many border police were here. More men meant more strength and more time. Basong's men were all armed with AK-47s, and they continuously fired at Wang Ting from the top of the mountain, covering Scorpion and his two men as they rushed down.
Wang Ting, using the Bren light machine gun left by Wang Yong, continuously fired back. During the intense firefight, Scorpion seized the opportunity and shot Wang Ting in the arm with his M40 sniper rifle. The powerful kinetic energy of the bullet knocked Wang Ting backward. The mercenaries and drug dealers, seizing the opportunity, rushed down the mountain even faster.
Wang Ting's right arm was shot through, and he couldn't use the machine gun. He switched to his 95 assault rifle with his left hand and continued firing at the approaching group. Unfortunately, firing with one hand, especially the left, was inaccurate. Only one unlucky drug dealer was hit in the leg and fell to the ground screaming. This did not stop the enemy's advance; it only made them more cautious.
Seeing Scorpion and his men getting closer, Wang Ting glanced at the direction of his country and the hidden entrance to the underground base. He changed the magazine in his assault rifle with one hand, gripped it tightly, and tried to stand up to fire at the drug dealers. He knew he might not hit them, but they would certainly hit him, especially the three mercenaries who would seize the opportunity. Farewell, my country, my comrades.
At this critical moment, a series of deep, continuous gunshots, different from the crisp sound of assault rifles, suddenly rang out behind him. Thump, thump, thump... bullets whizzed past Wang Ting, hitting the two leading mercenaries. The large-caliber bullets tore through the trees and the two mercenaries, reducing them to pieces. Scorpion, who was following, reacted quickly and dived to the ground as the bullets flew over his head. The other drug dealers also quickly found cover.
Wang Ting, who thought he was about to die, finally reacted and turned to see Wang Yong, less than fifty meters away, firing a U.S. M2 heavy machine gun, mowing down anyone who dared to resist. The powerful machine gun quickly suppressed the drug dealers' fire. Seeing Wang Yong firing and excitedly waving at him, Wang Ting slung his 95 assault rifle, picked up the Bren light machine gun, and two magazines, and then crouched down, dragging the machine gun toward Wang Yong. Wang Yong's machine gun fired even more intensely, providing cover for Wang Ting until he safely reached his side. A few seconds later, a 250-round belt was completely used up.
"You saved me again," Wang Ting said as he set up the Bren light machine gun.
Wang Yong, busy changing the belt, said without looking up, "This is self-defense! You have to be my witness."
Hearing this, Wang Ting rolled his eyes. At a time like this, was this guy not afraid at all? But how could he shoot so well?
"Hey, how do you know how to use this thing?"
"What's the big deal? Watch a few movies, and anyone can figure it out. Besides, I'm a military enthusiast," Wang Yong said proudly.
Hearing this, Wang Ting rolled his eyes again. Just as he was about to speak, he saw Scorpion extend his sniper rifle from behind a tree. Without time to warn Wang Yong, he pulled the trigger, and a long burst of fire swept past, forcing Scorpion back.
"Done yet? If you're done, help me change the magazine," Wang Ting said softly, gripping his 95 assault rifle and staring ahead. Wang Yong had just reloaded the machine gun and, hearing Wang Ting, pulled the bolt on the heavy machine gun, then removed the empty magazine from the Bren light machine gun, inserted a full one, and chambered a round for Wang Ting.
Both of them stopped talking and stared ahead, occasionally firing a burst to force the enemy back, especially Wang Yong's heavy machine gun, which, with its 250-round belt, fired long bursts without hesitation, sending wood chips and rocks flying. Many large trees were felled. As the standoff continued, Wang Yong suddenly asked Wang Ting, "Hey, have you seen 'First Blood Part III'?"
"What, do you want to surround them like Rambo?" Wang Ting replied without looking up, but to his surprise, Wang Yong actually did it.
"You are surrounded!" (To be continued.)
