For several days, Jifeng, apart from running to the Shenlong Space at night to practice the Body Strengthening Technique, spent his days taking his two dogs for walks and solving his stomach problems. During this time, he also went to the company to retrieve his personal items and applied for a passport, even though he hadn't received it yet.
He knew he would have to travel abroad frequently in the future, so he applied for a passport as a backup, just in case.
He also found a renovation company. After several revisions to the design according to Jifeng's requirements, the renovation plan was finalized. All the furniture and appliances that needed to be replaced were cleared out and replaced with new ones, except for a few of his parents' keepsakes, which Jifeng decided to keep.
Most importantly, he didn't want to leave any traces of Gaoyuan here. Now that everything was impossible between them, he took this opportunity to thoroughly clean up the house, at least making it more comfortable for himself to live in.
A few days later, just as Jifeng was preparing to move into a hotel temporarily, he was interrupted by a phone call, reminding him that he still had a piece of Yuan Dynasty blue-and-white porcelain to sell.
"Mr. Feng, you've arrived? Great, come to the Mingdian Cafe on Heping Road. I'll bring the item over right away. Okay, see you soon."
After hanging up, Jifeng quickly took the Yuan Dynasty blue-and-white porcelain out of the Shenlong Ring, placed it in a cardboard box, and added some foam around it before carrying the box downstairs.
He parked his car in a spot in front of the cafe and carried the box inside. A waiter hurried over, "Sir, how many people are you with?"
"I'm meeting someone, an old Mr. Feng. If he hasn't arrived, just arrange a quiet place for me."
Antique transactions usually don't take place in such settings, but it was almost noon, and Jifeng thought it would be convenient to solve his stomach problem at the same time. His two dogs only ate once a day and wouldn't eat more even if given more.
Following the waiter to a relatively quiet corner, Jifeng ordered a cup of Blue Mountain coffee. Less than half an hour later, three elderly scholars, accompanied by two young, strong bodyguards, entered the cafe.
Jifeng, sitting in the corner, waved his hand, and the five people headed in his direction. Although he hadn't met Mr. Feng before, it was unlikely that five men would come to a cafe for no reason, especially older men who prefer Chinese cuisine.
"Are you Jifeng? I'm Feng Jingyao," said the leading elderly man with white hair, smiling at Jifeng and then looking at the box by Jifeng's feet, especially the uncovered box with a jar opening about ten centimeters in diameter, which looked somewhat vintage, making his eyes light up.
"Hello, Mr. Feng. Please sit down. Order some food first, and while we wait, you can take a preliminary look," Jifeng said without being overly formal. Although these were his clients, his assets were not necessarily less than theirs, and he could even say he had more than many people in the world. The saying "money gives one the courage to be a hero" still applied in this era.
The two young men, who looked like bodyguards, sat at a nearby table, constantly observing their surroundings to prevent any threats to the people they were protecting. Seeing them wearing suits in the summer, Jifeng couldn't help but smirk, wondering where there were so many bad people in the world.
However, seeing the slight bulge in their waists, Jifeng was startled, wondering what kind of identity Mr. Feng had that his bodyguards carried guns. In China, gun control was extremely strict, and even many private bodyguards were not allowed to carry guns. Mr. Feng must have an official background and a high position.
"You can order whatever you like. We'll look at the item first. This is the Yuan Dynasty blue-and-white porcelain you mentioned, right?"
Seeing the three elderly men staring intently at the box by his feet, Jifeng didn't hesitate and bent down to pick it up with a smile.
"Be careful, be careful. How can you be so careless? What if it gets damaged?" Seeing Jifeng handle it roughly like a water pot, the three old men glared angrily.
Jifeng had never seen such a reaction before and almost dropped it. He quickly tightened his grip and gently placed it on the table, smiling apologetically, "Sorry, sorry. I don't know much about this. It's fine, isn't it?"
He really didn't know much about it and didn't need to pretend in front of these experts. Even if he learned a bit, it wouldn't be enough to show off in front of them.
At this point, the three elderly men were no longer paying attention to Jifeng and were all studying the half-new, half-old colorful jar.
Seeing them put on white gloves and use magnifying glasses to study it in great detail, Jifeng couldn't help but feel a bit uncomfortable, silently thanking his lucky stars that he wasn't in the antique business, or he would have gone bankrupt.
However, with the Shenlong Space or the ability to freely enter the market, it seemed he could make a fortune dealing in antiques.
But this was just a fleeting thought. Jifeng believed that having enough money to spend was enough, and there was no need to work hard to earn more. He should learn to enjoy life.
Or, it wouldn't be an exaggeration to say that Jifeng was a man with no great ambitions. If the island hadn't been his great-grandfather's legacy and he didn't want it to fall into foreign hands, he wouldn't have bothered to claim it.
After ordering a few meals, they were delivered in about ten minutes. However, the three elderly men were clearly more interested in the colorful jar, and Jifeng had to call them three times before they responded. In the end, he had to place their meals on the bodyguards' table.
Seeing his own plate with no place to put it and the three men moving around as if he was in the way, Jifeng decided to join the bodyguards for a meal.
"By the way, if it's convenient, could you tell me what Mr. Feng does?" Jifeng, having finished a steak and enjoying the dessert, looked at the three elderly men still excitedly studying the colorful jar, feeling somewhat amused.
"You don't know?" One of the bodyguards looked at Jifeng in surprise. If Jifeng didn't look so gentle and harmless, they might have searched him upon meeting.
Jifeng looked at them in surprise, shook his head, and smiled, "Should I know? This is the first time I've met Mr. Feng, and I've never heard of him before."
The two bodyguards looked at each other, somewhat amused, and one of them said, "It's fine to tell you. Mr. Feng is the director of the Palace Museum."
"Uh!" Jifeng almost fainted. Just a piece of Yuan Dynasty blue-and-white porcelain, and it attracted the director of the Palace Museum.
But thinking about the photos he sent to Leng Wuching, he understood. A Yuan Dynasty blue-and-white porcelain in such good condition and of considerable size was probably rare even in the Palace Museum.
After finishing his meal and drinking a cup of coffee, about an hour had passed. The three elderly men finally put away their equipment, turned around, and said, "Jifeng, from what we can see with the naked eye, your Yuan Dynasty blue-and-white colorful jar appears to be genuine."
Jifeng rolled his eyes, thinking, "Of course it's genuine. I got it from a Yuan Dynasty stall, and it's the real deal."
"However, for safety, we need to conduct some scientific tests, which will take a few days. Can we take this antique with us?" Mr. Feng looked at Jifeng awkwardly. He shouldn't have said this, but seeing how Jifeng handled it, he was afraid the treasure might break in Jifeng's hands.
Jifeng didn't even think about it and smiled, "Mr. Feng, I don't mind letting you take it. For the sake of Mr. Leng, I'll agree. But we need to agree on the price first. If it's genuine, what price do you intend to offer? Once you confirm it, just transfer the money to my account. If it's fake, you can destroy it, and I won't mind."
Jifeng wasn't worried about their verification. No matter what scientific methods they used, this item couldn't be fake; it was definitely from the Yuan Dynasty, with no doubt.
Hearing Jifeng's words, the three elderly men discussed in low voices. One of them said, "If it's genuine, the market price should be between 300 million and 350 million yuan. Of course, if it goes to auction, it might be slightly higher. Our budget is not very high, and we can offer up to 300 million yuan. What do you think, Jifeng?"
Jifeng thought for a moment. 300 million yuan should be enough for a lawsuit, which would be several million dollars, enough to hire a legal team.
"Deal, but no more than a week. I really need the money urgently, or I would have taken it to an auction."
The three elderly men looked at each other and nodded in agreement. One of the bodyguards went out and brought in a large safe. The other two elderly men carefully placed the colorful jar in the safe and filled it with soft foam to ensure it wouldn't be damaged even if shaken. After locking the safe, they began to eat.
Watching the five men drive away in a seven-seater Buick, Jifeng looked at the receipt in his hand, shook his head, and thought, "These people are really too cautious. It's just a piece of porcelain. If it breaks, I can just get another one from the market."
