Chapter 5: Skill Combination

The task collection process was quite bumpy, and the new server was packed with people. In the history of Glory, when the second server opened, it was so crowded that the entire newbie village was filled, preventing online players from moving and offline players from logging in. Since then, Glory has added several newbie villages to分流人群 when a new server opens, and the tragedy of the second server's opening has not been repeated.

This time, the preparation for the tenth server was also very sufficient, with each newbie village evenly distributing the influx of players. Although there were many people, it was far from being overcrowded. However, the situation around the NPC for task collection was a different story. Everyone was looking for this one NPC to receive tasks, and the rush caused a crowd. In Glory, there is no such thing as overlapping bodies or passing through others, so people formed circle after circle, with those inside unable to get out and those outside unable to get in. Many players were jumping, trying to leap over others' heads. But being level 0 new characters, their jumping ability was very poor, and the height was not enough, making the scene reminiscent of a beautiful poem about cute, bouncing creatures.

Even the most skilled players were at a loss in such a situation. Chen Guo, however, found it hilarious, with a face that said, "I knew it would be like this." She glanced at Ye Xiu's character and noted his name: "君莫笑" (Don't Laugh).

Amidst the constant shouts and screen spamming of countless players, the situation gradually improved. How was it resolved? By creating an exit, allowing players who had completed their tasks to leave, thus continuing the process.

Ye Xiu guided Jun Mo Xiao to painstakingly complete all the tasks, then began to tackle them one by one. The newbie village is mainly for players to adapt to the game environment and controls, so the tasks are all tutorial-based. Ye Xiu, of course, didn't need to guide step by step. After experiencing issues like competing for monsters, queuing, and crowding, which were all caused by the large number of people, he finally completed the first wave of tasks. Throughout the process, Chen Guo occasionally observed and commented, and it took a full two hours to complete these extremely simple tasks, making Ye Xiu sigh: "What's the point of being a master? In the sea of people, a master is just a cloud."

"Finally cleared, level 7." After turning in the last task and leveling up again, Ye Xiu turned to Chen Guo, only to see that Miss Chen had already slumped back and fallen asleep, her head still facing his screen!

To test his all-night gaming ability, she was already asleep? Ye Xiu looked down on her, took off his jacket, and threw it over Chen Guo, then turned back to continue his exploration.

Checking the interface, after completing this wave of tasks, Jun Mo Xiao had 340 skill points.

In Glory, learning and upgrading skills require skill points, which vary from 10 to 50 points. A level 70 max-level character, after completing regular tasks, can have 4000 skill points. However, this is not the limit; the maximum is 5000 points. The remaining 1000 points require some luck and skill to obtain.

In the ten years of Glory, no account has reached 5000 skill points. Even the top account, One Leaf That Falls, known as the Battle God, has only 4840 points, still 160 points short. 160 points may not seem like much, but they can be used to learn three major skills that require 50 points each or to upgrade one major skill by three levels. For a top player, this is a significant advantage.

Therefore, during the newbie tasks, experience and equipment rewards can be ignored, but skill points cannot be overlooked. Additionally, there are attribute points as rewards. Glory characters have four basic attributes: Strength, Intelligence, Vitality, and Spirit.

Strength affects physical attack, defense, and carrying capacity.

Intelligence affects magical attack, defense, and mana.

Vitality affects health and character durability.

Spirit enhances the effects of status skills and resistance to abnormal states.

The four attributes naturally grow with the character's level, and each class has different growth rates after level 20. As for attribute rewards from tasks, they are the same for everyone. Strength is strength, and intelligence is intelligence. A strength-based class can choose to do only strength tasks, but they are also welcome to do intelligence tasks.

In other words, if there were no growth corrections after level 20, a max-level account, after completing all tasks, would have the same four basic attributes, with no differences. Therefore, all tasks that should be completed must be completed, and later, one can rely on equipment to enhance the needed attributes.

So, at this point, there was no need to focus on attributes. After checking the interface, Ye Xiu immediately had Jun Mo Xiao use the skill points to learn skills.

Glory allows players to change classes at level 20. Before level 20, characters have no class or can be considered all classes, meaning they can learn skills from all classes as long as they have enough skill points. This allows players to experience a wide range of skills and find their interests before choosing a class at level 20. After changing classes, they can only learn skills from their chosen class and cannot be a jack-of-all-trades.

Ye Xiu didn't remember how to do the newbie tasks or how to clear the newbie dungeons, but he didn't forget the newbie skills. Glory's skill balance is excellent, and even the lowest-level skills have their uses. Each player can choose a set of skills based on their preferences. Since skill points are limited, it's impossible to max out all skills, even with 4000 points at max level, let alone 5000 points, so choices must be made.

In terms of skill selection, a master like Ye Xiu naturally has his own methods. Although his main character, One Leaf That Falls, is a Battle Mage, he is known as a textbook-level player, meaning he is proficient in all classes, not just one.

Ye Xiu almost didn't think twice before heading to the General Skill Master to learn two level 5 general skills: Sprint and Roll.

General skills can be learned by all classes. The two skills Ye Xiu learned were quite cheap, each costing 10 skill points, adding two more movement options to the character.

Sprint increases running speed, with no cooldown but requiring durability. When durability runs out, the character returns to normal running speed. Durability can be restored by walking or standing still, with walking being slower and standing still being faster.

Roll, as the name suggests, allows the character to roll in any direction—forward, backward, left, right, diagonally, or while running. There is no cooldown, but it requires durability to complete.

Next, Ye Xiu had a clear idea of which class skills to learn, knowing which were most practical at this stage.

First, Sky Strike, a Battle Mage skill. This is a skill that all classes have, with the same nature: it launches the target into the air. The higher the level, the higher the target is launched and the greater the damage. As a Battle Mage, Ye Xiu naturally chose the Battle Mage's Sky Strike.

Next, Dragon Tooth, another Battle Mage skill, a straight thrust attack that can cause a brief stun. Again, due to his main class, Ye Xiu learned it without hesitation.

After that, he learned the Gunner's Air Bullet, the Mechanic's Mechanical Tracker, the Blade Dancer's Ground Splitting Wave, the Juggler's Back Throw, the Ninja's Shuriken, the Swordsman's Block, the Elementalist's Light and Electricity Ring, and the Healer's Healing.

These low-level skills required few skill points, all under 20, and with Jun Mo Xiao at level 7, the skill levels could only be increased to a limited extent. In the end, 340 skill points were still left over. Ye Xiu didn't learn more skills, as he believed these were sufficient to handle all current situations.

However, if a regular player saw this skill combination from a top player, they would likely laugh.
