Chapter 6: Thousand Mechanisms Umbrella

Why is the skill build of Jun Moxiao so laughable?

First, the low-level phase passes very quickly. At this stage, carefully pairing skills is completely unnecessary. Many people just leave it blank, waiting to be brought to level 20 before considering a job change.

Second, although levels below 20 are for players to experience all classes, from the moment they enter the game, most players generally have a rough idea: Mage, Swordsman, or Gunner? They have a general direction. But what about Ye Xiu's skill combination? It actually spans all classes. While learning skills below level 20 is unrestricted, using them is limited by weapons.

For example, a Marksman's Floating Bullet can't be used when you're holding a Swordsman's blade. So, for a character like Jun Moxiao, you'd need to carry all types of weapons in your backpack, switching them constantly, which is very troublesome. At the initial 20-level stage, going through all this trouble is just asking for trouble, unless you're a Rogue.

What is a Rogue? A Rogue has no class. But that was back in the days when the maximum level was 50. After the level cap was raised and class awakening quests appeared, the Rogue playstyle disappeared. Today's players, seeing Jun Moxiao's skill build, wouldn't think of a Rogue; they'd just laugh.

But Ye Xiu didn't seem to think of this. Jun Moxiao currently only had a plain bronze sword. After learning the skills and passing by a general store, Ye Xiu even made him sell this only weapon.

Then he walked straight to the storage box in the warehouse, opened it, and found a piece of equipment inside.

A transferable account should be an empty account, meaning it should have no experience, money, items in the backpack, storage, or mailbox.

However, Jun Moxiao's account, which had just been transferred to Zone 10, had a piece of equipment in the storage box.

No one knew how this happened, but it seemed Ye Xiu had expected it. He knew he would find this equipment here, but when he found it, there was no joy on his face, only sorrow. His right hand, controlling the mouse, trembled again. The last time this happened was when he lost One Leaf of Autumn; this time, it was when he was about to retrieve this equipment.

The mouse hovered over it.

Thousand Mechanisms Umbrella, Level 5.

Weight: 2.3 kg, Attack Speed: 5.

Physical Attack: 180; Magic Attack: 180.

That's it. It was so simple it didn't even have any additional attributes, like a plain weapon.

But the color of the Thousand Mechanisms Umbrella's name wasn't white; it was silver.

In Glory, the color of equipment names indicates their tier: orange, purple, blue, green, and white. White equipment has no additional attributes. Green equipment is often given as quest rewards and serves as transitional gear. Blue equipment drops from dungeon bosses and is also given as quest rewards, making it the most common mainstream gear. Purple and orange equipment, on the other hand, are high-end items, requiring either luck or money to obtain.

The Thousand Mechanisms Umbrella's silver name color doesn't belong to these five colors. If Chen Guo were awake and saw it, she would be surprised. Silver is the unique color of custom-made equipment. Custom-made equipment is a major feature of Glory, not created through in-game crafting skills but through an equipment editor, making it high-end content.

There's a widely known saying in Glory: "Custom-made equipment may not be the strongest, but the strongest equipment is always custom-made."

Custom-made equipment can surpass epic orange equipment. In the professional league, each club has a dedicated team researching custom-made equipment, investing funds into it. The legendary One Leaf of Autumn, for example, wields a custom-made silver weapon, the War Spear Evil, which is a famous and unique weapon in Glory.

The uniqueness of custom-made equipment means it's hard to replicate, making each piece one-of-a-kind.

However, it could be a one-of-a-kind masterpiece or a one-of-a-kind piece of junk.

What about the Thousand Mechanisms Umbrella? Is it junk or a masterpiece?

If Chen Guo were awake and understood weapon attributes, she would immediately recognize it.

A masterpiece. The Thousand Mechanisms Umbrella is a true masterpiece, surpassing even level 10 orange weapons. With 180 physical and magic attack, it's equivalent to a level 10 orange weapon, and it's one of the highest-attacking weapons in its class. However, the highest-attacking weapons are often heavy and have low attack speed. The Thousand Mechanisms Umbrella, however, is not heavy and has a normal attack speed of 5, making it superior even to level 10 orange weapons.

However, its flaws are also obvious: the Thousand Mechanisms Umbrella only has basic attributes and no additional ones. Additionally, level 5 is a fleeting level that quickly becomes obsolete.

Ye Xiu didn't mind these issues because he knew the Thousand Mechanisms Umbrella was a brilliant creation. After countless experiments and failures, making a level 5 Thousand Mechanisms Umbrella was a significant achievement. The key to custom-made weapons is that once you grasp the concept and design, you can continuously improve them. Thus, custom-made weapons never become outdated, as the equipment editor allows for constant upgrades.

Ye Xiu gently took the Thousand Mechanisms Umbrella and placed it in Jun Moxiao's hand. "Let's begin," he whispered, then controlled Jun Moxiao to head towards the Green Forest dungeon in the beginner village, as if Jun Moxiao had heard him.

The Green Forest is a 5-person dungeon, accessible at level 5, but performance at level 10 and above doesn't count for any rankings. Since beginners are randomly distributed, even though many players come with friends to explore, they can't easily gather a full party. Most groups outside the dungeon are pick-up teams. As soon as Ye Xiu controlled Jun Moxiao to arrive, he received many invitations. He didn't pick carefully and joined a team that was one person short.

"Got it, got it, got it," the team leader, Moon Sleep, shouted as soon as Ye Xiu joined.

"How will we distribute the hidden boss drops?" Ye Xiu asked.

"Hmm, quite ambitious!" Moon Sleep's casual remark revealed he wasn't a real beginner; at least he didn't ask what a hidden boss was.

Hidden bosses appear in dungeons when you're in a party, and the system gives a prompt when you enter. Hidden bosses are generally stronger than the final boss of the dungeon and drop items that regular bosses can't.

A player of Ye Xiu's caliber could easily solo this small dungeon. He formed a party to encounter the hidden boss, as he needed the materials it dropped, which would be essential for upgrading the Thousand Mechanisms Umbrella. Ye Xiu knew that upgrading the Thousand Mechanisms Umbrella would be more challenging than leveling up Jun Moxiao, so he decided to work on both simultaneously.

In low-level dungeons like the Green Forest, even the best equipment quickly becomes obsolete, so it has little value. Aside from experience, the most appealing aspect is the materials dropped by the hidden boss, which never become outdated. Even in older zones, high-level players bring newbies to the Green Forest to encounter the hidden boss for these materials.

Moon Sleep clearly understood this, so he quickly announced the distribution plan for the hidden boss drops: "Those drops are money, so let's roll for them when they drop!"

"Alright," Ye Xiu agreed. There was no reason to claim the drops for himself in a pick-up team.

"Alright, everyone ready? Let's go in," Moon Sleep typed, and after getting everyone's confirmation, they entered the dungeon.

Ye Xiu hadn't used a headset earlier because he was talking to Chen Guo, so he put one on now. As soon as they entered the dungeon, he heard a voice shouting, "Damn, what luck, a hidden boss right away?"
