Huo Cheng had never been the type to meddle in other people’s affairs, but since this situation did involve him, he wasn’t going to just stand by and do nothing.

“Do you think this person accusing Fang Yichang knows him personally?”

Shen Wanying and Huo Cheng were brainstorming.

“His grades suddenly improved by leaps and bounds in this exam, so the accuser would look reasonable when he said that. Do you think they changed their story on Friday because they saw the exam results?”

Huo Cheng nodded. “Yeah, I think so too. It’s probably going to be easy for Fang Yichang to find out who they are.”

“Do you suspect Fang Yichang actually cheated?”

“Nope.”

“What makes you so sure?”

“If he had known which questions would come out beforehand, all he would have had to do was study specific topics, and he would have passed with flying colours. If he was just going to get grades that he could’ve gotten from haphazardly studying a little, why go through all the trouble of finding out the exam questions and leaking them?”

Spoken like the academic god he is! Shen Wanying had no rebuttal.

Back in the group chat, Fang Yichang had started sending messages again.

【Fang Yichang: That b@stard said I sold them the exam questions to make money. What, do they think I need their money?】

Zhao Yimeng responded with a tears-of-laughter emoji.

Fang Yichang was telling the truth, though; his family certainly didn’t lack money. In fact, it was because his family had set him up for life that his parents could afford to take the carefree attitude they had towards his terrible grades. So this made it even less likely that he would even have a need to obtain and sell the exam questions – the comfort of his future life had absolutely nothing to do with whether or not he did well in school.

【Huo Cheng: Tell the school, it’s almost certain that the questions were leaked by a teacher. That way they’ll lay off you a bit and investigate the teachers instead. Especially the teachers in High School 2.】

【Fang Yichang: I also wanted to let you guys know, since we all know is that the questions were definitely leaked, we might have to retake the test next week.】

【Shen Wanying: Having the retest next week is a good thing. Keep your spirits up and sit the paper well, you should be able to maintain your grades. That’ll help lessen the suspicion on you too.】

【Fang Yichang: You’re too good to me my Lady, I could hug you】

Huo Cheng turned to Shen Wanying. “Pass me your phone for a moment.”

“Eh?” Shen Wanying innocently handed him her phone. “What is it?”

Huo Cheng tapped the phone screen a few times and handed it back to her. “Okay, done.”

When Shen Wanying looked at her screen again, she saw that Huo Cheng had kicked Fang Yichang out of the group chat. She blinked at the phone, speechless.

【Zhao Yimeng: Hahahahaha Missy you’re too cruel!】

【Shen Wanying: ……. It was Huo Cheng.】

【Zhao Yimeng: ??? Wait, you guys are together right now??】

【Shen Wanying has deleted a message】

【Zhao Yimeng: …….】

When Fang Yichang was restored to the group chat, the group admin had been changed to Huo Cheng.

【Fang Yichang: ???? My Lady, why did you kick me out?】

【Huo Cheng: It was me】

【Huo Cheng: Now I’m the group admin, watch what you say or else】

【Fang Yichang: …….】

That afternoon, word finally reached Fang Yichang about who it was who had accused him of cheating – it was that no-good fellow Wang Xu.

Their relationship was, while not tumultuous, tinted with unease – they had fought before, and could never get along. So the fact that Wang Xu would go out of his way to make trouble for Fang Yichang came as no surprise to the latter.

Upon finding out who this nonsense-spewing culprit was, Fang Yichang had gathered all his buddies and sent them to find him. And as if knowing he would be targeted, Wang Xu had seemingly hidden in the confines of his home, refusing to leave.

“Fang-ge, what now?” Hong Hong asked.

“I refuse to believe he’s stopped going to school.” As he spoke, Fang Yichang turned to Hong Hong with a smile. “Have you seen how they battled in the olden days? Before the fight, they would face each other on the front lines and insult each other across the battlefield. Why don’t we do the same and hurl some insults his way from here?”

“That’s a good idea.” Hong Hong gave him a thumbs-up, and then yelled towards the house from the floor below, “Wang Xu, aren’t you always swaggering around? But then something happens, and you retreat into your shell like a coward? If you can make trouble for us, you can bloody well open the door and face us!”

They were promptly chased away by the security guard, who even threatened to call the police. Fang Yichang decided to cut his losses and comply, and took Hong Hong with him. He didn’t enquire too much into the situation with Wang Xu, but unbeknownst to him, much progress would be made that Monday.

The task force assigned to investigate the case found out which teacher it was who had leaked the questions in the first place.
