Thinking of this, Du Yuqi suddenly felt a chill run down his spine. This monster, despite being so heavily injured, was still so tenacious. If it were in perfect health, he would probably already be inside its stomach, being digested...
Then, Du Yuqi noticed something very peculiar: after the strange insect landed and steadied itself, it did not immediately come to attack him. Instead, it raised its head like a cobra, slowly turning as if it were listening to something carefully.
"Right..." At this critical moment, Du Yuqi's mind was surprisingly clear, and his brain quickly recalled something:
"Animal World clearly states that creatures like earthworms, centipedes, snakes, and silverfish rely on hearing and sensing vibrations to explore their world. This monster looks like their relative. When I first saw it, it was hiding in a pile of soil, and I couldn't find its eyes. Could it be that this guy also relies on sensing ground vibrations and sounds to hunt?"
With this thought in mind, Du Yuqi immediately paid attention. Indeed, he had to look very hard to find that the strange insect did have eyes, hidden behind its vicious mouthparts. They looked like compound eyes similar to those of a dragonfly, with a noticeable indentation, suggesting they were also injured, thus its vision was likely very poor.
However, as the insect shook its head to locate its target, Du Yuqi held his breath and didn't move his feet at all. Even so, the monster still knew the direction from which Du Yuqi had last made a sound and slowly crawled over to search. Du Yuqi could hide for a moment, but if he didn't make any changes, he wouldn't be able to hide forever!
Fortunately, this brief respite gave Du Yuqi enough information. He narrowed his eyes and slowly bent down, almost like a slow-motion close-up in a movie. Sweat slid down his cheeks, as the strange insect was now less than three meters away, and the pungent, fishy smell from its body was already reaching him.
Then, Du Yuqi slowly picked up several stones from the ground and suddenly threw one about ten meters behind him.
When the stone landed with a light "plop," the insect immediately turned its head and listened intently. Du Yuqi then threw two more stones, deliberately making the second one land about half a second later, so the sounds were "plop" "plop," like someone running and their feet hitting the ground one after the other.
Instantly, the vicious insect whipped its tail against the ground and lunged toward the source of the sound! The wet soil splattered everywhere, hitting Du Yuqi's face painfully, and its terrifying burst of speed made Du Yuqi shudder.
As the insect lunged, Du Yuqi ran in the opposite direction without hesitation.
Du Yuqi had already calculated everything in his mind:
They were now about ten meters apart, and the vicious insect was already injured. Exerting itself would worsen its injuries, so it couldn't use this explosive attack method continuously. It wouldn't catch up to him for a while...
And he... only needed a little time!
After running about two to three hundred meters, Du Yuqi stopped, taking a deep breath. During his escape, he continuously threw stones to interfere with the insect's hearing, successfully misleading it several times. Thus, he reached this point relatively safely.
At this moment, he turned to look at the insect, which was quickly approaching from about ten meters away, and a fierce look appeared in his eyes:
"Do you really want to eat me? Since you dared to come here, I will make sure you don't return!"

The battlefield Du Yuqi chose was none other than the place where the logging mech and the tree spirit had perished together.
Upon arriving, Du Yuqi continued to move slowly, maintaining a distance of about five to six meters. However, the insect pursuing him had already stood upright, shaking its head and appearing confused.
The reason for this was that the logging mech, after being pierced by the tree spirit, still emitted the sizzling sound of electric sparks and the "thud" of internal machinery!
Du Yuqi's judgment was correct. The insect indeed relied on its hearing and vibrations to perceive the outside world. With the obvious interference, and Du Yuqi deliberately lightening his steps, the insect, having been misled by the sound of the stones several times, was now at a loss.
At this moment, Du Yuqi took a deep breath. There was only one step left. He just needed to take one more risk to completely eliminate this threat to his life!
"Come on!" Du Yuqi said to himself.
Then, he suddenly shouted at the insect:
"Come on! Bastard!"
Du Yuqi wasn't sure if the monster understood what he was shouting, but he was certain it could hear him!
—That was enough!
In that instant, it was as if the scene was in slow motion. The insect, upon hearing the sound, immediately raised its hard tail and struck the ground. The wet, soft soil sank like liquid under the impact and flew out in all directions...
Then, the insect's muscles and tendons tensed, and several streams of yellow, viscous liquid spurted from the cracks in its shattered shell. It launched itself forward, aiming its mouthparts at Du Yuqi to bite!
However, the moment Du Yuqi shouted, he felt as if he had been punched in the jaw and fell backward. As his body was still parallel to the ground, he smelled the pungent, fishy odor, and saw the insect's massive body, its menacing shell, and its bizarre segments fly past, just a few centimeters in front of his eyes!
At that moment, Du Yuqi was only a few centimeters away from death!
But in that instant, Du Yuqi's mind was strangely calm. He even thought of a high-speed train rushing by!
