Hu Hao had been waiting until after 3 PM, almost falling asleep on his feet, but still hadn't seen the Japanese lieutenant general come out.
"Are you playing with me? Are you coming back or not? If you're not, just say so, I need to buy cigarettes! Damn, I forgot to buy them. If we start fighting, I won't be able to get any. You damn Japanese, I'm going to blow your head off today, making me unable to smoke!" Hu Hao cursed in his heart.
After a while, a large group of Japanese soldiers came out, with the lieutenant general in the middle.
"He's out. You might as well enjoy the sun while you can, because you won't see it soon! This is my offering to the heavens today, I wonder if the heavens will be displeased!" Hu Hao aimed at the lieutenant general's head and said.
The Japanese lieutenant general walked out of the command post and said to the major behind him,
"Good, the inspection is over for today. Make sure to protect the military supplies here. Our Imperial Japanese Army will begin the purge of the Eighth Route Army in this area next month."
"Hai, General, please rest assured! I will guarantee with my life that these supplies will be protected until the Imperial Japanese Army arrives!" The major bowed and said.
"Good." "Bang."
The lieutenant general's temple burst with blood and brain matter! The major was stunned, dead. The lieutenant general was dead. The major looked around in a daze, trying to figure out where the shot came from.
"Close the city gates, search for me! Kill anyone who resists!" The major shouted, and the other colonels also loudly ordered a city-wide search.
Hu Hao, after firing the shot and seeing the lieutenant general hit, ran away. He jumped out of another window on the third floor and entered the main street leading west. As soon as he reached the street, a large group of Japanese soldiers arrived, pushing open each door along the street and searching inside.
It's over, I can't run, how did the Japanese come so fast! So Hu Hao stood in front of a bun shop, pretending to buy buns.
"Eight-ga, why aren't you searching? What are you standing there for!" A Japanese captain saw Hu Hao staring at them and shouted.
"Hai, Captain, what happened?" Hu Hao deliberately asked. "What are you searching for?"
"That bastard, he's on the loose again. Lieutenant General Saito was killed, now go search for the murderer!" The captain said.
"Hai!" Hu Hao stood at attention, nodded, and turned to join the search, quickly arriving at a nearby opium den. He entered with his gun in hand.
"Eight-ga, did you see any strangers?" Hu Hao asked in a mix of Japanese and Chinese.
"Sir, Sir, we really didn't see anyone. I am very familiar with Captain Imai, we are loyal citizens!" A man in his forties quickly came over and said.
"Good, loyal citizens! But I need to check!" Hu Hao said, thinking to himself, "I'm checking the loyal citizens!"
"Sir, look, everyone here is enjoying themselves, see," the man took out a few silver dollars from his pocket and handed them to Hu Hao. Hu Hao weighed them in his hand, "Damn, only five silver dollars!"
Hu Hao put the silver dollars in his pocket and said, "Hmm, it's still better to check, otherwise I can't explain it!"
"Hmm, it needs to be checked, it needs to be checked. We won't trouble you, Sir, we'll check ourselves." The man took out a few more silver dollars and handed them to Hu Hao. Hu Hao saw, "Hmm, another five, that's enough, let's go somewhere else."
"Good, you are a loyal citizen!" Hu Hao said satisfactorily, patted the man's shoulder, and turned to leave.
"Spit, damn Japanese, just extorting me, I'll remember you, I'll find your captain later!" The man spat on the ground after Hu Hao left.
Hu Hao came to the street and saw the Japanese searching everywhere, causing chaos among the civilians. Hu Hao was very upset, damn, why are you bullying the civilians, have the guts to come after me!
Hu Hao had nothing to do, so he wandered around with his gun, looking for trouble. If he saw something he didn't like, he would go check it out. If he saw a loyal citizen, he would extort them.
He came to a row of residential houses and heard a woman's cries for help inside. Hu Hao quickly went in and saw two Japanese soldiers trying to assault a girl. The girl was indeed beautiful, damn, if the Japanese ruin her, her life will be over.
Hu Hao went in and slapped the two Japanese soldiers.
"Eight-ga, you're searching now, and you're doing this!"
"Eight-ga, which unit are you from? The Japanese soldier who was about to assault the girl aimed his gun at Hu Hao. Hu Hao, without hesitation, stabbed the Japanese soldier in the heart with his bayonet. The other Japanese soldier hadn't reacted yet when Hu Hao pulled out a knife from his leg and slit his throat.
The girl on the ground was stunned, how could a Japanese soldier kill another Japanese soldier?
"Alright, don't lie there, get up and leave, find a place to hide," Hu Hao said in Chinese.
"You, you," the girl pointed at Hu Hao, not knowing what to say.
"I, I am Chinese, don't worry, find a place to hide, or when the Japanese find these two dead, you'll be in trouble!" Hu Hao said.
The girl quickly stood up, put on her clothes, and came to Hu Hao's side, saying, "Thank you."
"Hmm, find a relative's house to hide in, quickly pack your things, don't stay here, the Japanese will come here," Hu Hao said.
"Okay," the girl quickly packed her things, and Hu Hao started searching the Japanese bodies, taking valuables and ammunition. After the girl packed her valuables, she said to Hu Hao, "Brother, I don't have any relatives or friends here, can you take me with you? Wherever you go, I'll follow."
"What? You want to follow me? I'm running for my life, how can I take you?" Hu Hao was surprised.
"Brother, I am a student from Beiping, I came here to find my father, but I couldn't find him," the girl said.
"Find your father, what does your father do?" Hu Hao asked.
"My father is in the Eighth Route Army, but I don't know where they are, I only know that there are Eighth Route Army troops near this county. This is a rented house," the girl said, "and I have no money left. I was planning to find a job here to earn money to continue looking for my father, but now, I don't know where to go!"
"Ah! Your father is in the Eighth Route Army? Really?" Hu Hao asked.
"Really!" The girl nodded firmly. She quickly opened her bag and took out a few letters, handing them to Hu Hao, "My father wrote to my family, saying he is here, so I came to find him!"
