After chasing for about five or six minutes, the wild boar stopped running and fell to the ground, convulsing. Hu Hao walked over and kicked the boar with his foot, saying, "I said keep running, you can't escape once I, the tiger, have my eyes on you."

After saying that, he sat down, out of breath. It seemed this body hadn't had any meat for about ten to fifteen days. Hu Hao looked at the boar and felt a bit frustrated, "Why did you grow so fat? I'll be exhausted carrying you back."

Hu Hao looked around and found some bamboo. He picked up the dagger, broke two bamboo poles, and gathered some tree vines. He started tying the boar to the bamboo, and also hung the pheasants and partridges he had caught earlier. Then he dragged the bamboo and started walking back.

After about half an hour, Hu Hao finally left the forest, drenched in sweat from exhaustion. No, it was from hunger.

At this moment, he saw a few people walking towards him. Hu Hao stopped and listened carefully. Yes, it was the voice of the guard, Xiao Li.

"Hey, Brother Li, we're going in to find Er Lengzi. I said, why would Er Lengzi go into the mountains for nothing? The regiment commander wouldn't agree," a soldier said.

"Why are you saying so much? Don't you know the regiment commander takes the best care of Er Lengzi? If it weren't for Er Lengzi, the regiment commander would have died long ago," Xiao Li said.

"Xiao Li, Xiao Li, over here, come quickly," Hu Hao confirmed it was Xiao Li and put down the bamboo, sitting down.

Xiao Li heard and said to the three soldiers beside him, "It's Er Lengzi, let's go see."

When they came to Hu Hao, they were surprised. Hu Hao was dragging the boar with the bamboo, and there were a few pheasants and partridges as well.

"Er Lengzi, did you catch this boar?" Xiao Li asked, unsure.

"Who else if not me? Show me if you can do it. Forget it, don't waste my time. Help me carry the boar back," Hu Hao said, standing up and picking up the chickens, then walked back.

They swayed as they walked back to where they had been staying. The room was already lit, and someone inside pushed the door open, probably hearing the footsteps.

"Er Lengzi, you're back. Is this what you caught?" Regiment Commander Zhang looked at the chickens on Hu Hao's shoulders.

"Yeah, Brother, I'm hungry. Can you cook for me?" Hu Hao said. He had already accepted Regiment Commander Zhang and knew he genuinely cared for him.

"Sure, I'll cook. If you're hungry, there are sweet potatoes and eggs inside," Regiment Commander Zhang took the game and asked, "Did you see Xiao Li? I sent them to find you."

"They're behind, carrying the boar. I couldn't carry it all the way, and they came just in time, so I handed it to them," Hu Hao said.

"You caught a boar? Are you crazy? The boars in the mountains are more terrifying than tigers. Do you want to die?" Regiment Commander Zhang scolded immediately.

"It's fine, I killed it with two stabs," Hu Hao said indifferently, "Brother, I'm hungry." Hu Hao was getting a bit impatient.

"Alright, I'll cook for you. Wait here," Regiment Commander Zhang took the chickens and went inside, and Hu Hao followed.

Inside, a small table had a bowl of sweet potatoes and an egg. Regiment Commander Zhang had probably been looking at a map, which was still on the table. Hu Hao sat down and examined the map, frowning. He thought, "This map isn't as accurate as the one I drew from reconnaissance."

Hu Hao was hungry, so he picked up a sweet potato and started eating, trying to fill his stomach. He planned to eat the chicken with sweet potatoes later, which would be delicious.

After about half an hour, Regiment Commander Zhang came in with a large bowl of chicken soup, placing it on the table and saying happily, "Try it. I cooked it over a high flame. I tasted it, and it's really fresh."

"Sure," Hu Hao took the bowl and drank a mouthful, savoring the delicious, natural flavor.

"Brother, don't just look. Have some too. Is there no more?" Hu Hao asked.

"There's more. I'll get you some," Regiment Commander Zhang stood up and went out.

When he came back, Hu Hao had already drunk most of it. "Slow down, there's still some here!"

"Brother, you drink. I have this. I have sweet potatoes to go with it," Hu Hao said while eating.

"You drink this bowl too. I'm not hungry," Regiment Commander Zhang pushed the bowl to Hu Hao.

"Brother, I'm really full. You drink. I bet you haven't had meat for ten to fifteen days," Hu Hao said.

"Alright, I'll drink. I'll save the rest for tomorrow," Regiment Commander Zhang said.

"Brother, drink it. There are still a few more. If you don't drink, I won't eat. Besides, there will still be two left tomorrow," Hu Hao said.

"Alright, I'll drink, I'll drink," Regiment Commander Zhang said, tears in his eyes.

Seeing Regiment Commander Zhang drink the chicken soup, Hu Hao also started eating sweet potatoes and drinking the soup.

After finishing, Hu Hao wondered, "Brother, why hasn't Xiao Li come back? Did he take my boar for himself?"

"What are you saying! Why would he take your boar? He probably took it to the regiment's kitchen. The soldiers haven't had meat for a long time. With this boar, they can get some nutrition," Regiment Commander Zhang said.

"No, Brother, I caught it. I was counting on this boar to have meat for the whole winter," Hu Hao said unhappily.

"What are you saying?" Regiment Commander Zhang hit Hu Hao on the head.

"Your boar for the whole winter? Don't you know the soldiers haven't had meat for a long time?" Regiment Commander Zhang said while hitting him.

"That's your problem. What about me? Do I not get meat?" Hu Hao said, feeling aggrieved.

"Who said you won't have meat? Everyone will have a share. You'll probably have some tomorrow morning," Regiment Commander Zhang said.

"Big loss. I put in a lot of effort to catch this boar," Hu Hao complained.

"You said you only used two stabs, right?" Regiment Commander Zhang asked.

"Can't I exaggerate?" Hu Hao responded.

"Why are you so shameless now? I haven't settled the score with you for staring at Xiao Xin in the hospital. Now you're getting cocky," Regiment Commander Zhang said, glaring at Hu Hao.

"Hehe, Brother, I'm full and ready to sleep. I'm exhausted from last night. I need a good rest," Hu Hao said, lying down on the bed he had slept in that morning, ignoring Regiment Commander Zhang's glare.

Seeing Hu Hao lie down, Regiment Commander Zhang shook his head helplessly and picked up the map to study it again.

"Brother, aren't you going to sleep?" Hu Hao asked.

"Go to sleep. Don't provoke me. If I get angry, I'll make you sleep in the stable. Do you believe me?" Regiment Commander Zhang said.

"Alright, you keep studying," Hu Hao turned over and covered his head with the blanket.

The next morning, the sun was already high, but Hu Hao was still sleeping. He wouldn't have woken up if not for the urge to urinate.

He got up and saw two bowls on the table. One was meat, which he liked, and the other was sweet potatoes. "Heaven, is there no other staple food?" Hu Hao went to take care of his personal hygiene, then came back to the room, looking at the two bowls with a frown. "I like the meat, but I can't just eat meat. Sweet potatoes, heaven, 'I hate sweet potatoes!'" Hu Hao shouted loudly.
