EP.5 Let's take a look at the in-game character nickname 'Saint' - Golden Sun Edition

In-game character nickname 'Saint' by Araboja - Golden Sun Edition

Author: Kim Sanghyun, the Grandma's Bubble Thief

Re-ha (meaning Rainbow Tales Ha)

Hello, Retegallers.

Today, we're going to talk about 'Saint.'

Yes, I'm referring to the wraith of Yellow 1 mentioned last time.

Why did I write this post...

Link: https://yotube.com/watch.—————————————

It's a video from a few days ago that has already garnered 580,000 views. It seems to be getting some attention in the gallery as well.

It's not particularly special, just a highlight (best play) video of a Saint MVP match, but why did it become so popular...

Well, I can guess why.

These days, there are hardly any priests who choose the 'Gaia's Disciple' special ability.

It might be okay for a variety show build, but it's definitely not for ranked climbing.

It's also a default preset for priests, and anyone who has played the game and paid attention to priest-related achievements or quests would know why it's considered a terrible special ability.

Why would you need to aim for healing when it's not about casting spells or shooting arrows?

Moreover, while those can at least do some damage when roughly aimed at a cluster of enemies, healing is different.

In a complex battlefield, it needs to accurately reach only allied players, and since it doesn't take effect immediately, the projectile form is incredibly frustrating, leading to a high chance of missing.

It's not as fast as an arrow, and you don't need to worry about ballistics, but it does have some guidance. However, if it lands on the ground and grows weeds or revives the opposing team when they're about to die, you might want to kill your own team's priest.

The game company is out of their minds.

How could they include such a mechanism in the default priest preset?

Did they not anticipate that a new player starting from level 1 would develop a bias against priests due to this garbage mechanism?

So, the reason there are so few priests in this game is entirely the fault of the management.

It's so different from the 'Elohim Sect Priest' build.

While the latter has less healing power, it has a spell shield and a more easily usable divine spell that can revive all players from a stun. Most importantly, if you target correctly, the healing effect is immediate, making it easier to handle emergencies.

In ranked games, the win rate of priests with the 'Gaia's Disciple' special ability is only 42%.

The win rate increases as you go up the ranks, but it's still only around 44% from Yellow onwards.

The 'Elohim Sect Priest' has a 51% win rate, which is decent. If you're thinking of starting as a priest, look into this build.

It seems like something is leaking.

Oh, right. I was talking about the highlight.

Despite the significant difference in win rates, unfortunately, the probability of getting a highlight is higher for users with the 'Gaia's Disciple' special ability than for 'Elohim Sect Priest' users.

Statistically, the sample size is almost twice as large.

There are nearly 12 times more 'Elohim Sect Priest' users than 'Gaia's Disciple' users, so why is this the case?

It's because the ultimate skill of the 'Gaia's Disciple' special ability is that much more spectacular.

The only resurrection skill in Rainbow Tales.

And it's a wide-area resurrection.

While there are skills like the Berserker's 'Fury of the Undying' and the Elohim Sect Priest's 'Second Sun' that prevent death, the only skill that revives already dead users is 'Proclamation of Gaia's Domain.'

Depending on the battlefield, but generally, how far the front line is pushed is crucial in this game.

If set up incorrectly, it could lead to a balance collapse.

Unfortunately, the balance did collapse, but in a bad way.

It does vary depending on what sub-special abilities are chosen, but the 'Proclamation of Gaia's Domain' is generally radial.

The effect occurs around the priest.

To properly utilize this skill, the priest needs to be in the center of the battlefield.

One of the few advantages of the 'Gaia's Disciple' healing over the 'Elohim Sect Priest' healing is that it has a longer range, making it less susceptible to arrow and spell interference, but the ultimate skill makes this range useless, indicating a flawed special ability design.

Moreover, unfortunately, that's not all.

It's a 'possession' type skill where Gaia directly manifests in the present world.

Not only does it drain all your mana, but you have to solve some ridiculous problems using the 'prayer' mechanism.

It's not only complex but also has a large number of problems, taking almost 5 minutes for even an average priest user.

The 'Understanding of All Things' build's ultimate skill, 'Meteor Shower,' has a casting time of about 3 minutes.

It's more difficult to not kill a priest kneeling in the center of the battlefield for almost 5 minutes.

The penalty is enormous, but if the effect and visual effects are appropriate and it activates correctly, it can turn a lost game around, which is why there are so many highlights.

I intended to talk about 'Saint,' but I ended up talking about priest special abilities.

Well, then.

Finally, the main topic.

This crazy guy (bastard) really caused some trouble.

A play that any 'Gaia's Disciple' priest has dreamed of at least once came to life.

It was a complete reversal of a game that seemed over, reviving five players.

The opposing team was so stunned that they gave unanimous votes.

Saint received 11 votes for MVP.

But the important part isn't that.

MVPs with 6 or more votes (at least one from the opposing team, so it's not common) have their highlights saved on the official site, making them visible to everyone.

What was surprising was that this unanimous vote came from a match with only the notorious Yellow 1 wraiths.

The video started being exported everywhere,

And the video itself... was it just too well captured?

Not only the composition,

But the customization of Saint was so outstanding...

The wings that appear during 'Proclamation'...

It was like... a real goddess...

The comments were in chaos, as if a new PV had been released.

If only this disaster hadn't happened because of the customization.

I ended up writing a praise for Saint, but my intention was the opposite.

I pulled out the knife to prevent new players from getting heartbroken by having unrealistic expectations from this video.

That guy is a netcammer. A pervert.

You know that, right??

If you don't, I'll tell you.

Saint is a player who has maintained a concept for 10 years, so there are many named characters involved.

Obviously, the 'Berserker' and 'Sekai Ichiban' don't troll when on the same team as Saint, suggesting there's something going on.

...

There's a user called 'Golden Sun.'

A user who has been playing since Season 4 and currently maintains a score in the 100s in Orange, so I didn't introduce him last time.

I think this guy lives up to his nickname.

His customization is insane.

If Saint is a god, Golden Sun is a king.

He's the embodiment of the blonde, tanned thug you're thinking of...

Apart from his unique customization, he's a pretty ordinary knuckle warrior.

His playstyle is a bit reckless, but that's common among warrior users.

But this guy...

When he meets Saint, he goes ballistic.

He doesn't pay attention to other female characters.

Only to Saint.

...What kind of ballistic?

Just... when these two meet... in that match, Rainbow Tales is no longer a fighting game...

They just play a dirty game...

It's hard to describe in words.

I'll show you the entire chat log I captured.

When Saint and Golden Sun were on different teams.

The game started off with Saint's red team front line being destroyed, leaving her alone.

Notice that Saint realizes that when she gets close, Golden Sun starts sending these crazy messages and she doesn't resist.

Be careful, it might be bad for your eyes.

[ Saint: Hic. ]

[ Golden Sun: Hey~ Found Saint~ Red team, are you watching? I'm about to play with this Saint however I want~ ]

[ Saint: Stop it... just once... hic! ]

[ Golden Sun: Huh? Did you already forget what you said last time we met? Do you want to die? ]

[ Saint: Huh... ]

[ Golden Sun: Oh ho. You're in a promotion match? How dare a trash like you aim for Orange? ]

[ Saint: Stop this... ]

[ Golden Sun: Can't you see that your front line is all dead because of you? Do you have a conscience? I'll make sure you can never crawl back up. ]

Then, Saint, with red-faced emotional expressions, took off all her equipment (thankfully, underwear can't be removed, or she would have taken it all off) and wore a collar, crawling around the map on all fours like a dog.

Until the end of the game.

We played a 5v5 game without Saint and Golden Sun.

As soon as it ended, all 10 of us, regardless of team, reported Saint and Golden Sun, getting them both a week-long ban.

Since then, I always dodge if I see them together.

If they're on different teams, I block the chat.

Golden Sun is one thing, but you can see how much Saint, a crazy netcammer, is obsessed with her concept.

These days, Golden Sun's score is higher, so they match less often.

To Golden Sun, Saint is just a woman who gives her body.

She's called a prostitute for a reason.

It's pathetic to see people calling her a goddess, saying she should be in the trailer, or that she should be featured in the official Rainbow Tales broadcast.

Remember.

Saint is a netcammer obsessed with sexual desire.

└ Damn, that highlight was nothing.

└ It's not that it's nothing. The character is female, after all.

└ How can reviving 5 people with Gaia's descent be nothing? It's a hard carry, regardless of Saint's personality.

└ What's the author's in-game nickname?? How does he know so much? lol

└ It's a secret. All the nicknames that could be the author's have been deleted. He probably did it.

└ Are there still users who don't know Saint is a perverted netcammer? lol

└ Surprisingly, there are. Especially newbies... Young people who join after watching videos might get hurt.

└ I'm really curious, why does Saint act like that??

└ Can you understand a netcammer who has maintained a concept for 10 years?

└ This post might be misleading, but Golden Sun is actually nice. He plays well, follows orders, and is reliable when on the same team. As long as he doesn't meet Saint.

└ The prostitute corrupted Golden Sun.

└ lol

└ Saint's broadcast ON, opposing team Golden Sun ON

└ Go talk about that in the stream gallery.

└ Damn, is this post fake? I'm watching Saint's broadcast now, and she's not chatting, just smashing Golden Sun's head.

└ The front line is so bad that Golden Sun keeps pushing to the back, and Saint is fighting with a mace, while Golden Sun keeps getting hit. lol

└ How can a priest beat a warrior? The score difference is huge. BS.

└ The five sub-special abilities Saint always uses are for close combat. It's possible.

└ Golden Sun is crying out, "What happened to that guy? Where did that trash go?" lol

└ It seems Saint's account was hacked.

└ Some idiot hacker is using her account to play a trash priest build.

└ Damn, that's true.

└ Saint has a main character, right? She fights better than most blunt weapon warriors. lol

└ No matter how many crazy people there are in Retegall, no one would play 8,000 matches with an alt.

└ It does sound funny. I'll go check it out. lol
