Chapter 16

"Let me introduce you. This is the chief editor of our Youdou video editing department, and also my direct superior, Yang Baichuan."

"This is the deputy general manager of our Youdou video content operations department, Yu Shengnu!" Liu Yue introduced enthusiastically from the side.

"Hello, Chief Editor Yang, Deputy Director Yu! I didn't expect both of you to be here. I'm truly honored!" Tang Feng stepped forward with a smile.

"Mr. Tang, you're too polite. We're just glad you don't mind our uninvited visit!" Yang Baichuan extended his hand warmly to shake Tang Feng's hand, smiling.

But Yu Shengnu said with a smile, "I just wanted to see what kind of person a broadcaster who could break the all-time record for the most concurrent viewers in Starlight Show can be."

Hearing this, Tang Feng was taken aback, his eyes filled with confusion. What was Deputy Director Yu up to?

"Mr. Tang, are you confused about why a deputy general manager of a video website would be interested in a live streaming event?" Yu Shengnu, noticing Tang Feng's confusion, asked with a smile.

"Indeed!" Tang Feng nodded.

"Mr. Tang, you're too impatient. You didn't even let Mr. Tang have a sip of tea before asking so many questions!" Yang Baichuan feigned annoyance.

"Yes, yes, I was too impatient. Come, come, let's sit down and talk!" Yu Shengnu, being old friends with Yang Baichuan, knew he was joking. She also realized she had been a bit too eager.

Soon, Tang Feng sat down with the three of them, while Liu Yue, the nominal host, seemed to be an outsider. However, she had no complaints, as the two people talking to Tang Feng were her direct superior and a high-level executive of Youdou, so she naturally wouldn't try to take credit.

After sitting down, no one rushed into the main topic. Instead, they ordered a few drinks first.

Then, Yang Baichuan asked, "To be honest, I haven't seen Mr. Tang's live streaming video. Do you happen to have it with you so we can take a look? I'm curious to see what kind of video could attract so many viewers!"

"I do, I brought a USB drive with me!" Since the discussion was about the video, Tang Feng had prepared the live streaming video beforehand and copied it to a USB drive.

Yang Baichuan quickly plugged the USB drive into his laptop and started watching.

Tang Feng patiently sipped his coffee, while in his mind, he was guessing why a chief editor and a deputy general manager would go to such lengths to meet him.

"The two songs are really great! They can be directly released for sale, not inferior to the songs on the charts! If Mr. Tang is interested, I can recommend them to Reku Music!" Yu Shengnu nodded in approval after watching the beginning.

"Deputy Director Yu, you're too kind. However, I signed an exclusive distribution contract with Reku this afternoon. Still, I appreciate your offer!" Tang Feng replied.

"Is that so! It makes sense, such good songs are hard to go unnoticed!" Yu Shengnu continued watching the video.

Soon, they reached the part where Tang Feng was doing stand-up comedy.

Tang Feng's witty remarks made Yu Shengnu and Yang Baichuan almost forget where they were and why they were there. They laughed frequently, especially Yu Shengnu, who, perhaps due to her high position, rarely had anyone joke with her, or perhaps because she had a low threshold for laughter, was laughing so hard she couldn't straighten up.

Some jokes that Tang Feng didn't find funny at all made him wonder if the people in this world had a low threshold for laughter.

After about half an hour, the video ended. Yu Shengnu and Yang Baichuan looked at Tang Feng with a gaze that seemed like wolves eyeing a sheep.

Tang Feng felt uncomfortable under their gaze, but fortunately, Yu Shengnu and Yang Baichuan were not ordinary people and quickly smiled.

"Mr. Tang, I thought Liu Yue was exaggerating, but now I see she didn't do justice to the truth! With my years of experience, I can tell you that if this video is uploaded to Youdou, it will definitely become a huge hit! It's a completely new form of entertainment," Yang Baichuan praised.

"Indeed, I haven't seen such an interesting video in a long time. I never thought live streaming could be like this! I've broadened my horizons!" Yu Shengnu also sighed.

At first, both Yang Baichuan and Yu Shengnu had only heard others talk about how funny and unique the video was, but they still had their doubts. If it weren't for Tang Feng's impressive live streaming results, they wouldn't have come to see him together!

A limit of one thousand viewers, with thirty times the capacity, this data left them stunned. Over thirty thousand people watched the show simultaneously, and all of them were Starlight Show members, paying users. Moreover, Tang Feng had done no promotion at all, yet he achieved such remarkable results in such a short time, which clearly demonstrated the quality of the video.

Thirty thousand people watching simultaneously and staying for over half an hour is a completely different concept from a video getting thirty thousand views. If a video can't attract viewers, even with strong promotion, it will only have a lot of people passing by, but few staying. This is the difference between views and concurrent viewers.

Finally, after a few more compliments, they got to the main topic, with Yang Baichuan speaking first.

"Mr. Tang, before we discuss cooperation, I have a question. As far as I know, your video chat room was shut down by Starlight Show the day after your live stream. Do you know why?" Yang Baichuan looked at Tang Feng and asked.

This was also what puzzled Yang Baichuan and Yu Shengnu.

Logically, such a popular video should have been promoted by Starlight Show to make the results even more impressive. As the creator of these impressive results, Tang Feng should not have been overlooked. However, the reality was the opposite. Starlight Show not only failed to promote it but also forcibly closed Tang Feng's chat room the next day without any warning.

What Yang Baichuan and Yu Shengnu were most worried about was whether Tang Feng's live stream involved any copyright issues. If that were the case, they wouldn't dare to discuss cooperation with him.

It wasn't entirely their fault for thinking this way. Logically, Starlight Show, being the platform, had the best chance and highest probability of signing Tang Feng. However, none of Starlight's companies had signed him, which made them suspect there might be some unknown issues.

"Ha ha, to be honest, the first person I contacted was Starlight Show. After all, my success is thanks to the Starlight Show platform. I just didn't expect..." Tang Feng explained how Starlight Show tried to force him to sign a contract like a bond of servitude. Yu Shengnu and Yang Baichuan exchanged glances, both seeing shock and... joy in each other's eyes.

They were shocked that the executives of Starlight Show could be so short-sighted, using such brain-dead methods to force Tang Feng.

They were joyful that Starlight Show's actions had given them a chance. Otherwise, how could they have had the opportunity?
