“My goodness!” Meriel spoke slowly, accepting the candy offered by Deacon.
“I’m perfectly fine.”
“Oh my goodness, thank you.”
“Oh, it’s something I really like.”
“I’ll never forget this feeling.”
Meriel was forced to speak to all fifty knights in the haze and accept all of their candies.
When she couldn’t get any more candy, she tried to end it with excuses, but she was thwarted by Deacon, who appeared behind her with a basket.
Meriel accepted everyone’s forgiveness as if she had become a saint, cursing her yesterday’s self inwardly.
She was innocent, but her guilt that she had deceived them stabbed her in the chest, then she came to a halt when she saw the knights ecstatic whenever she accepted their candy.
‘This is why people should not live in sin,’ she thought to herself.
Meriel returned to Bran with a basket full of sweets.
“…I’m really surprised, Commander.”
“Are you feeling any better?” Bran appeared to be very pleased.
He appears to be very pleased with himself.
Meriel turned her helpless guilt into a broad smile and responded, “I really feel so happy!”
“That’s reassuring, Your Grace.”
Meriel vowed never to make fun of these innocent knights again, looking at Bran while scratching his head as if embarrassed.
“I’m supposed to be here today to train properly, but I can’t. I’ll return tomorrow.”
“Are you certain?”
“Yes…I’ll see you tomorrow.”
She didn’t seem to be able to concentrate on training today due to guilt. Meriel coughed and waved goodbye with her hand.
She could hear them cheering behind her as they seemed to be celebrating the success of their plan.
Meriel flopped down on the sofa in her bedroom, staring at the basket full of candies.
“Their level of innocence…..!”
Her heart pounded as if ink had been splattered on pure white drawing paper. Meriel sighed, took a handful of candies from her basket, and unwrapped them.
It couldn’t have been a particularly exciting occasion. What kind of woman wouldn’t be impressed if they proposed giving a rose flower instead?
“But, why candy?”
Meriel tilted her head as she bit into her lollipop. She didn’t dislike candy because she ate it herself, mostly to pretend she was an idiot before.
However, her acceptance of their candy puts her in a difficult situation.

Klaus set the papers he was holding down as he listened to Selina’s report.
“What?”
“The Grand Duchess is said to have received a candy gift from the Knights Templar.”
“Why?”
“I’m not sure why, but I believe they were attempting to win Her Grace’s heart.”
“……”
Klaus crumpled the papers in his hands. He frowned and glared at Selina.
“It’s pointless to glare at me, Your Grace. This is the story I heard from the Grand Duchess as well.”
“…How come you didn’t tell me that?”
“Didn’t you have time for the Grand Duchess?”
Klaus clenched his teeth as he examined the stack of papers on his desk. It was frustrating that he was unaware of what was going on. It was a time when his feelings for Bran, who hadn’t visited the office in a while to devote his energy to the training of the Knights Templar, were growing sour.
“But, why candy?”
“I’m not sure either, but… …according to a passing knight, the Grand Duchess enjoys candy.”
Klaus sprang from his seat.
“I have to leave.”
“It’s fine to go out, but please complete all of your tasks for today, Your Grace.”
“Selina.”
“Yes, Your Grace?”
“Aren’t you going to be my secretary?”
“I already work as the Grand Duchess’s secretary.”
“It’s perfectly fine to do both.”
“Your Grace, I believe this is an unreasonable request.”
“The pay will unquestionably double.”
“…..”
“I’ll also give you a bonus there.”
Selina quietly exited the room, picking up half of the papers that had accumulated on Klaus’ desk. Klaus teased the pen, desperately trying to complete the remaining paperwork as soon as possible.
How did the Knights know, when he had no idea what Meriel liked? It was the point at which Klaus’ mistrust of Bran resurfaced.
‘I’m certain he got this information from Eirin.’
This is not the time to lock himself up in the office.
Klaus assumed that Meriel had already won the hearts of the Knights Templar despite not having met him. She is already more beautiful than anyone else in the world, and even if he remained motionless, the knights’ gaze would return to her.
Klaus’ teeth clenched.
‘A gift I haven’t even given yet……’
