They came to one of the largest shopping malls in H City. Bai Weijin looked up and took a glance.

The store was in Gu’s name.

It was not because Gu Yeze tried to make money in every means possible. Actually, major stores worth a visit in H City were either in Gu’s name or working in partnership with his company.

They walked into a jewelry shop.

Seeing two well-dressed persons in, a salesperson greeted them enthusiastically, “What can I do for you?”

Bai Weijin spoke in a soft voice, “Please show me the best Lantian jade bracelet, thank you.”

“All right. This way, please.”

The salesperson was good at sizing customers up. He saw at a glance their tendency to spend money generously, but still couldn’t imagine the man in front was the big boss of the shopping mall.

“Could you tell me whether you buy this for yourself or as a present?”

While Bai Weijin was considering how to address Gu Yeze’s grandmother, he uttered, “Gift for an elder.”

The shop assistant nodded his understanding and carefully held out a jade bracelet from a display case behind, “Please look at this one, Miss. The Lantian jade is of the highest purity in our shop. It’s bright and nearly flawless.”

Bai Weijin bowed her head to size it up. It was indeed a quality product of excellent workmanship. She nodded, “I want this. Please pack it up for me.”

On hearing her words, the salesperson beamed with pleasure, taking the bracelet aside to do the packaging.

Gu Yeze said nothing more when Bai Weijin instructed the salesperson to make it delicate but not gaudy. To be honest, he never cared about jewelry stuff.

If his grandma hadn’t insisted that he should marry Miss. Tan, Gu Yeze wouldn’t spare a couple of hours to buy a gift with Bai Weijin.

They got in the car. Gu Yeze turned his head and glanced at the woman next to him, tapping his fingers on the steering wheel.

“Your stepsister and Yan Sheng will be engaged in a week.” Gu Yeze said.

What was the hurry? News that she and Gu Yeze would get married got them irritated?

“Well, it seems that they lost their composure faster than I thought.” Bai Weijin replied with scorn.

Seeing her reaction, Gu Yeze teased, “If I remember rightly, Yan Sheng was your sweetheart before, wasn’t he?”

“My sweetheart? How could he deserve it? Just a rabid dog in heat which bites anybody in his sight.” Bai Weijin was greatly sickened whenever she recalled what Yan Sheng and Bai Yinya did. Her admiration for the man vanished without a trace.

Hearing what she said, Gu Yeze let out a deep and joyful chuckle.

Bai Weijin was quite baffled, “What are you sniggering at? Did I say anything wrong?” She rolled her eyes at him.

For Gu Yeze, Bai Weijin was after all his prospective wife in name, though the bonding was not based on mutual love. If there had been a place for another man in her heart… Thinking of this, he lowered his eyes. Fortunately, Bai Weijin not only disliked Yan Sheng but showed a strong disgust for him.

Besides, the swearwords she used against Yan Sheng were quite funny, which amused him greatly. It was rare for him to laugh like this.

But he would certainly not answer her question honestly. Instead, Gu Yeze tried to divert her attention, “Our engagement ceremony is to be held in three days, so make sure you’ll be fully prepared. Tomorrow I’ll pick you up to see Grandma.”

Three days later?

Bai Weijin couldn’t sit still any more. Was he crazy?

Though she knew that Gu Yeze was always vigorous in everything, Bai Weijin did not expect he acted so immediately.

“Your family members forced you into a marriage with a knife on your neck? You’re quite anxious about that.” It was too late when Bai Weijin realized what she had uttered. Turning her head, she glanced at Gu Yeze gingerly.

Gu Yeze’s face darkened dramatically just as expected.
