In the noisy bar, the overhead lights flickered on and off, dazzling and glaring.

“Talk to me. What on earth was going on?” Chu Jiran asked his friend who acted out of character.

“Stop your nonsense, for nothing happened.” Gu Yeze felt unaccountably agitated once Bai Weijin’s words flashed through his mind.

“Really? If nothing happened, why are you, a newly married president, at the bar now?”

Gu Yeze smashed the wine glass on the table. Judging from his reaction, Chu Jiran guessed that he must have had a quarrel with Bai Weijin and stopped questioning.

“I’m quite curious about what kind of woman can affect your mood.” When it came to Bai Weijin, Chu Jiran was merely impressed by her strong character and shrewdness.

Yet it turned out that the woman was far from simple, for he found, for the first time, Gu Yeze took a woman to his heart, which aroused Chu Jiran’s curiosity greatly.

Affecting his mood?

Gu Yeze grasped the wine glass heavily with his bony fingers.

The reason why he chose Bai Weijin as his nominal wife before was that he preferred her simple relations and agreeable personality. But all those must be based on the fact that he felt no dislike for Bai Weijin, for he could hardly bear being together all the time with a person he hated.

However, she drew a clear line between them by those heartless utterances. It could be seen that she totally regarded their marriage as a deal.

Thinking of this, Gu Yeze was terribly upset.

He took a huge gulp of vodka, letting the high-purity liquor stimulate his throat and nerves.

This night Gu Yeze didn’t come back.

Bai Weijin had no time to attend to his whereabouts. In her eyes, Gu Yeze was just going crazy.

She was busy submitting her resume to major companies except those closely associated with Bai family and Gu family. To be honest, there were many pretty good choices.

When she finished, Bai Weijin went to bed.

Next morning, she got up early and turned on the TV to watch the news. Anyway, it was still quite a while before the companies replied to her e-mail, so she was pretty at ease.

Based on her remarkable educational background as well as considerable awards and academic achievements during her school years, Bai Weijin was utterly confident of finding a job.

As for Gu Yeze, he hadn’t appeared since last night. Bai Weijin didn’t contact him, for she had every confidence that, with innumerable bodyguards, nothing would go wrong with this grown-up man.

Gu Yeze who had a terrible hangover was gently rubbing his forehead in the office.

He neither went back nor stayed at another property last night, but asked the driver to send him to the company.

He used to sleep in the office when busy with his work. There was a large compartment nearby the door inside the office.

It consisted of a bedroom and a kitchen. Also, the clothes were available for a change.

The phone rang. It was his private mobile. Gu Yeze opened his eyes and cast a glance.

It was Chu Jiran calling.

Gu Yeze frowned and answered the phone, “What’s the deal?”

“Have you seen the e-mail I sent you?” Chu Jiran’s voice came over the phone.

Gu Yeze turned on the computer and logged on to the mail app.

“I have to go, since there’s a meeting presently. A’ze, you seemed to have deeply offended your lovely wife.” Chu Jiran’s gentle voice showed some rarely-seen mischief and he hung up the phone immediately.

Gu Yeze clicked the mail and browsed.

Half a minute later, a loud bang was heard from the President’s Office.

A crack emerged in Gu Yeze’s desk.
