Despite his understanding of what Gu Yeze was like, Zhao Kaicai didn’t expect his pretty wife was also quite hard to deal with.
But he readily gave his consent, “Miss Bai, you may rest assured that I’ll keep my word.”
Bai Weijin smiled with satisfaction.
“Gu’s Group will drive up the purchase price of Chenfeng, but the one that conducts the final acquisition must be Wu’s.”
Bai Weijin said word by word, while Zhao Kaicai felt baffled.
Gu’s Group set great store on the acquisition of Chenfeng, or he could not have had the guts to bargain for higher prices with Gu Yeze in order to reap fabulous profits.
Yet why did Gu Yeze give up the attempt now?
Faced with his puzzlement, Bai Weijin said, “You don’t need to know the reason behind. Remember, don’t grant your consent whatever the quotation Gu’s is about to give. When the time is ripe, we’ll get you informed, and you can sign a contract with Wu’s Group then.”
Zhao Kaicai became more and more confused. He asked carefully:
“Miss Bai, how can you make sure… that Wu’s Group will raise the price, too?”
Bai Weijin took a sip of the boiled water and replied, “Don’t you worry, Mr. Zhao. Wu’s will certainly give a perfectly satisfactory price.”
Her words eased Zhao’s mind and brought peals of laughter from him.
After all, Miss Bai’s assurance was simply equated with that of Gu Yeze, who, known for being true to his word, stood as an all-powerful influence on the business circle for years.
Zhao Kaicai naturally had no doubt about that.
“Then what about the follow-up, Miss Bai? Is Chenfeng gonna be acquired by Wu’s?” asked Zhao Kaicai.
“Of course not, Gu’s will handle the rest things. What you need to do is to await the good news, and you’ll get your fair share then, I promise.” Bai Weijin said in a calm manner.
On hearing what she said, Zhao Kaicai beamed with pleasure.
“Ok, it’s a deal.” Zhao Kaicai roared with laughter.
As their discussion came to an end, Bai Weijin got up, and so did Zhao Kaicai.
“When Wu’s starts the acquisition, my husband or I will come to talk about specific matters with you.”
“All right, Miss Bai,” nodded Zhao Kaicai cheerfully. The big profits delighted him a lot.
“Wish us well in our cooperation.”
Smiling, Bai Weijin looked that enchanting. Zhao Kaicai couldn’t take his eyes off her.
This woman was a combination of beauty, courage and insight. Women in H City had no idea why Gu Yeze regarded Bai Weijin with special respect, while Zhao Kaicai knew the reason now.
Unfortunately, the beauty had married Gu Yeze. Zhao Kaicai had no nerve to cast greedy eyes on her.
“Miss Bai, let me see you off. Please give my regards to Mr. Gu.”
Zhao Kaicai walked Bai Weijin to the elevator, fat legs moving, and saw her off respectfully.
Bai Weijin called Gu Yeze as soon as she left Chenfeng.
There would be great fun in H City since tomorrow.
“Hello.” Gu Yeze’s low and fine voice came.
“Zhao Kaicai agreed. He dares not to change his mind, so we can start now.” Bai Weijin was a little proud of herself.
“I have every confidence that my dear wife will handle it well.” Gu Yeze deliberately lowered his voice, making Bai Weijin’s flesh creep.
Again! Shit! The man must have done it on purpose, thought Bai Weijin.
Shi Qian walked from the bathroom in a robe and raised the wine glass to her lips.
Gu Yelin was grim-faced when he hung up. Shi Qian approached him and said in a flirtatious manner, “What’s the matter, Yelin? It’s too late?”
Gu Yelin smashed his mobile phone on the table, “Zhao Kaicai the bloody idiot! How can he turn down my bid? Even worse, he told me Gu Yeze gave a higher price.”
Then he made a number-like gesture with his fingers, and Shi Qian failed to hold back her cry, “Two billion?”
Gu Yelin’s brows furrowed, “Gu Yeze can never have his wish fulfilled.”
Shi Qian nodded.
“But our funds…” Shi Qian still had some worries.
Their acquisition of Chenfeng was about to meet with success, while at the crucial moment, Gu Yeze drove up the price. Gu Yelin closed his eyes.
He had done a deal with Wu’s Group days ago: Wu’s would buy up Chenfeng, and the future profits were to be divided between them two according to their investment. So, he could definitely not allow Gu Yeze to reap the benefit!
Gu Yelin clenched his teeth, “Contact a few banks that have close relations with us. We must acquire Chenfeng, whatever the cost!”
…
Contrary to them, a sense of harmony developed in Gu Yeze’s home.
Bai Weijin reclined in a sofa watching the news, and Gu Yeze was up to his neck in a notebook.
“He took the bait.” Gu Yeze gave a smile as something came into view.
Bai Weijin immediately sat up and looked at the laptop.
Gu Yelin applied for loans from several banks with an eye to purchasing Chenfeng at all costs.
Bai Weijin chuckled. It was rather rash of Gu Yelin to win at the expense of being saddled with huge debts.
Gu Yeze picked up his mobile and dialed a number, “Continue to raise the price but make sure our bid is a little higher than his.”
Bai Weijin certainly knew the reason. If the increment was too big, Gu Yelin would be hesitant over whether to proceed; while if it too small, their action would be of little significance.
Only in this way could he fall into their trap step by step.
The market price for Chenfeng skyrocketed, which they learned of from Chenfeng. As for the public, they all held that Mr. Gu was determined to achieve the acquisition of Chenfeng.
Yet the result astonished the whole H City.
Wu’s Group acquired Chenfeng at a price of 6 billion!
It was far beyond Chenfeng’s actual value. The company did have several important industrial chains, which, though, could render no substantial help but add some luster.
Real estate was a weak point of Wu’s Group. It was likely for them to take a favorable turn via the acquisition of Chenfeng, but not so necessary as it seemed.
The business world was far from tranquil, so was Gu’s Group. Gu Yelin secretly felt complacent.
He had regretted throwing considerably big sums at the competition with Gu Yeze for Chenfeng Group in the first place, while shareholders’ open “attack” against Gu Yeze lightened his mood greatly.
“President Gu, I wonder why Chenfeng was acquired by Wu’s Group. The acquisition had been in the bag…” faltered a shareholder. He dared not say more in dread of Gu Yeze’s authority.
“Indeed, the program is of great significance to us. Hmm, the failure will definitely hamper our advances in the real estate.”
“Well… What bad luck!”
