It went without saying that Bai Yinya’s honey trap worked. Zhao Lei was cajoled into funding Bai family, leaving it some breathing space.

Bai Weijin was chairing a meeting when Gu Yeze called her over by the phone.

She knocked at the door of his office.

Yet no one answered it, so she walked in straight, to find that Gu Yeze stood by the window looking down at the busy streets below.

“What can I do for you, President Gu?” Seeing Gu Yeze pretend not to see her, Bai Weijin asked wittily.

Gu Yeze turned away with a smile.

He tilted his chin at the file on his desk. Bai Weijin picked them up, took a look and heaved a sigh, “You’ve handed me one project after another. Such heavy workload must be accompanied by a pay increase.”

“No problem,” replied Gu Yeze without hesitation.

“The whole company will be in your name as well as its president. How do you think?”

Bai Weijin rolled her eyes, “You can’t be serious.”

Still, she pored over the document. Having found no problem in it, Bai Weijin said her goodbye and backed out.

Gu Yeze grabbed her, “Move to the 23rd floor.”

“Are you kidding? You’re abusing power, President Gu.”

Her words incurred Gu Yeze’s displeasure, “You’re right. It’s not until now that I find power is such a sweet thing.”

Bai Weijin was speechless. ‘How come Gu Yeze becomes so brazen now?’

She tried to persuade him, while Gu Yeze was not prepared to listen to reason, insisting on her moving to the 23rd floor. Bai Weijin had no choice but to slip away.

Having sported with Gu Yeze for a while, Bai Weijin found herself in a sloppy coat when she stepped out.

Bai Weijin walked towards the lift while tidying up her dress.

The lift door was opened before she pressed the button. There came the overpowering reek of perfume.

A woman with a head of wavy hair came out. She wore heavy makeup and was smartly dressed. Bai Weijin knew her—Jiang Sisi, the director of another department in Gu’s.

The stink of her perfume made Bai Weijin feel queasy. She nodded a greeting before taking the elevator.

The sharp-eyed woman Jiang Sisi noticed the folder in her arms, saying, “Wait a moment, Director Bai.”

Bai Weijin groaned inwardly, yet she held back her impatience and halted.

“Is this the new program President assigned you?”

Bai Weijin looked down at the document and nodded.

Her fists clenched, Jiang Sisi appeared clam and spoke smilingly, “President seems to speak highly of you, Director Bai.”

Bai Weijin darted a cold glance at Jiang Sisi who, somehow, felt a little uneasy.

Bai Weijin shouldn’t have found out her show of politeness.

“Maybe.”

Bai Weijin made a few casual remarks before she entered the lift.

To her surprise, Jiang Sisi followed her in.

“I’m gonna ask for President, while it occurred to me that there’s something to be handled in my office. I get to come back.”

Jiang Sisi felt embarrassed under Bai Weijin’s steady gaze and subconsciously explained to her the reason why she also took the elevator.

Bai Weijin did not bother to talk to her more, giving a nod.

She turned and walked towards her office. Jiang Sisi glared at her receding figure and took the elevator to the 23rd floor after some hesitation.

“Come in.”

Gu Yeze’s voice came from inside as she knocked on the door.

Jiang Sisi put on a rather charming look and pushed the door open.

Gu Yeze cast a glance at her and then bowed over the files he was reading. Jiang Sisi opened her mouth smilingly, “President, I heard that our company has recently launched a project.”

Gu Yeze nodded and motioned for her to continue.

Jiang Sisi approached Gu Yeze little by little while speaking, “The project is not hard to carry out, and I happen to have no heavy work at hand… Would you mind my being in charge of it?”

Gu Yeze didn’t push her away, which encouraged Jiang Sisi in her ambition to take the project. She was secretly confident that President couldn’t resist the seduction of such a beauty as her.

Her hands gently caressed his body.

Gu Yeze remained impervious and gave her a long harsh stare.

“Gu…” Bai Weijin pushed the door open.

Her coming astonished Jiang Sisi and Gu Yeze.

What greeted Bai Weijin was Jiang Sisi nestling against Gu Yeze’s chest and making advances to him who, though, was out of her sight.

She only felt Gu Yeze had no intention of pushing Jiang Sisi away.

Bai Weijin had come to ask about the details of the project. Now she sneered, “I seem to be here at the wrong time.”

Then she turned on her heel and stomped out of the room.

Gu Yeze’s face darkened. Jiang Sisi thought he must be angry with Bai Weijin.

“President, she’s….” Jiang Sisi grumbled in a feigned voice.

Yet Gu Yeze shoved her aside, “Get out of my face!”

Jiang Sisi was frightened to death, going weak at the knees.

Gu Yeze glared around the room and got up to chase Bai Weijin.

Finally, he caught up with her. Gu Yeze clutched at Bai Weijin’s arm, “Wait.”

Bai Weijin retorted, “Wait? Wait for what? My recording your sex practices and showing it to everyone?”

She was hinting that he and Yan Sheng were birds of a feather, which irritated Gu Yeze, “Nothing happened between her and me.”

Bai Weijin didn’t believe his words, giving an ironic smile, “It’s ok, but you’ve made the same reply when I asked you about Zhang Ranran. A good excuse, isn’t it?”

Gu Yeze was simmering with anger, yet he did have nothing more to say for himself.

He had to grin and bear it.

Gu Yeze held her arm in a firm grip. Bai Weijin felt a sharp pain but gritted her teeth stubbornly.

Gu Yeze took a deep breath and said to Bai Weijin, “She asked for me in the mere hope of snatching the project away from you.”

Bai Weijin had a sharp tongue.

“Asking for you? Then why I saw her lean her head against your shoulder? You’re really a man of loose morals.”

On hearing this, Gu Yeze finally ran out of patience with her, “Bai-Wei-jin!”

Gu Yeze raged in a fit of temper, which, for ordinary people, would scare the pants off them, yet Bai Weijin wasn’t terrified at all.

She showed no signs of fear, looking up to meet his eyes, “What are you gonna do?”

Somehow, Bai Weijin was unable to restrain her fury. She broke away from Gu Yeze and strode off.
