“Weijin! Weijin!”
Bai Weijin was deep in thought when a sound came from outside. Gu Yeyu peeped through the French door to see what was going on inside, while her effort was futile.
It was impossible to see anything from where she stood.
Bai Weijin showed a smiling face and went to open the door.
Gu Yeyu was a lot more restrained today, not hugging Bai Weijin as usual.
“Weijin, why you look so pale?” Gu Yeyu gave Bai Weijin a worried look.
“I’m all right.”
She took Gu Yeyu to the sofa, and the latter said, “Weijin, I’ve explained everything to Grandma.”
Bai Weijin didn’t show much reaction but kept listening.
“And Grandma… now is less rejective to your marriage after my explanation.”
Bai Weijin was aware that Gu Yeyu made the remarks very tactfully. Grandma Gu might accept her as the daughter-in-law, but from the bottom of her heart, the old lady was not satisfied with the result.
Nor would Grandma Gu be as gentle and kind as ever to her.
Considering that the old woman was the second elder who made her feel the warmth of family (the first was her mom), Bai Weijin felt deeply grieved.
But soon she accepted the fact.
“Okay.” She replied.
Gu Yeyu thought it must have upset Bai Weijin, mollifying her, “Don’t worry, Weijin! You are a really nice person. Grandma will certainly like you as I do.”
Bai Weijin listened to Gu Yeyu chatter away.
‘It doesn’t matter what Grandma Gu thinks of me now. After all, our marriage is gonna break down. Will… Will Yeyu like me then?’
Bai Weijin didn’t bother to continue the topic, saying, “I have some work to do. You can go home now.”
Gu Yeyu pursed her lips.
“I’d like to have a chat with you, but I’m really busy these days.” Bai Weijin added.
After some hesitation, Gu Yeyu asked, “Weijin, is there anything wrong with your marriage?”
Innocent as she was, Gu Yeyu was not a fool. She understood that there must have been another reason behind Bai Weijin’s unhappiness… for her look was exactly like that of hers the moment Chu Jiran turned her down.
Bai Weijin rubbed her fingers.
“Not at all. You needn’t worry about that.” She patted Gu Yeyu on the forehead.
“Go back.” She hurried Gu Yeyu.
Bai Weijin didn’t lie. She did have something to do.
She wasn’t the kind to cry into her beer. With a strong sense of dignity, Bai Weijin felt compelled to have a talk with Gu Yeze to clear the air.
Intuition told Gu Yeyu Bai Weijin seemed to keep something from her. She slowly stood up.
“Weijin, you hide something from me, don’t you?” Gu Yeyu looked into Bai Weijin’s eyes and asked.
“Go home.” Bai Weijin dropped her gaze.
Gu Yeyu dawdled away, her mouth pursed.
As soon as she left, Bai Weijin’s face remained expressionless again.
She arrived on the 23rd floor, to find that everyone looked her up and down.
It dawned on Bai Weijin that Sun Xue didn’t lie to her. Gu Yeze did…
She closed her eyes and managed to get over the depression.
Gu Yeze was annoyed by the knock at the door.
How dared he or she interrupt him at the very moment!
Having received no response, Bai Weijin pushed the door open.
Before she entered the room, there came a loud bang. “Who allowed you to…” Gu Yeze’s angry voice came.
Bai Weijin stepped into his office with an air of composure.
Gu Yeze paused at the sight of her, while his face darkened.
“What are you doing here?” He was in no mood to see Bai Weijin now.
“There seemed to be a sex here. What a mess!” Bai Weijin sneered, as the fragments of broken glass met her eyes.
The thing Gu Yeze smashed to pieces was a color-glazed ware, on which Bai Weijin once feasted her eyes. It was quite an artistic treasure of supernatural workmanship.
The ornaments in Gu Yeze’s office must be priceless, while he didn’t treasure them at all.
“Done? Then go out.”
Gu Yeze was confused by what she said, yet he didn’t feel like questioning her closely.
“We haven’t divorced yet. Although I don’t care whether you get another woman, you cannot take them to the company, unless over my dead body!”
The words “I don’t care whether you get another woman” provoked Gu Yeze. He suddenly stood up.
However, Bai Weijin did not shrink back.
She stared at him in the hope that he would give an explanation.
Gu Yeze had no idea what Sun Xue said to Bai Weijin. The reason why he took the woman to work was to mislead her.
So she would get jealous. However, Bai Weijin didn’t give a damn about that, which was way beyond his expectation.
“Hmm,” Gu Yeze gave a sneer.
“Does my affair have anything to do with you?” Gu Yeze slowly approached Bai Weijin.
Bai Weijin went stiff.
“I got married just because Grandma hoped me to do so, so why can’t I marry another woman?” He stared at Bai Weijin in a provocative manner.
Bai Weijin finally saw what he meant.
“Of course you can.”
Gu Yeze paused.
“I’ve got what I wanted from the marriage, and you can, too, by marrying any woman.”
Gu Yeze pushed Bai Weijin down on the sofa and pinned her arms to her sides.
“Bai Weijin, you serious?” He clutched her collar, asking.
Bai Weijin had nothing but a sick feeling in her stomach.
“Does it matter to you after you’ve gone too far?”
“I’ve gone too far?” Gu Yeze thought he just brought a woman to his office in a failed attempt to get her jealous.
He let go of her.
“Get out of my face.” Gu Yeze turned on his heel.
Just the same words she said to the women. Bai Weijin gave a wry smile.
This just confirmed her suspicions. She had no hope for him now.
Bai Weijin straightened her clothes up.
“If you do hope to marry another woman, do it as soon as possible.” After saying this, she stomped out of the room.
In a burst of uncontrollable anger, Gu Yeze booted the coffee table down.
