"I heard that the division commander and the Holy Lady are moving to dissolve their engagement."
"You know that much, huh."
Sighing involuntarily at Cyril's words.
The division commander is my father, and the Holy Lady is my mother.
It seems they have also been moving in this matter.
How openly have my parents been acting?
Or is it simply that Cyril picks up on rumors quickly?
All I can do is smile with a sense of exasperation.
Well, it might just be that Cyril has a high information-gathering ability.
Even as a noble from another country, not only this time but also in the past, he has been well-informed about various rumors circulating in this country.
What kind of information network does he have?
Thinking about it makes me a bit scared.
If it's all out in the open, I might as well tell everything.
There's a limit to how much I can dodge.
Even though I have the title of "Sage," my mind works just like anyone else's.
If I try to dodge, Cyril, who has a superior intellect, will see through it immediately.
Alright! I'll just give up and tell him.
Deciding this, I began to recount what happened when I was called by Lord Henry.
"I see. I was told that he would bring it up eventually, but I didn't think he would actually do it. It seems that man is even more lacking in consideration than I thought."
"I can't really say anything about it."
"Well, it's fine. I always thought Sophia was too good for that man. The dissolution of the engagement is actually a welcome development."
After recounting the entire situation of being called by Prince Henry, Cyril raised one corner of his mouth in a sarcastic smile.
However, the aura he exuded was not calm.
It seems he is not just a little angry, especially considering how he refers to the prince of another country as "that man."
Is he angry on my behalf?
If I think so, it feels a bit ticklish.
However, it's problematic to be pleased by disrespectful remarks about royalty.
So, I just returned a troubled smile and quietly sipped my teacup.
"Still, I don't understand."
"What don't you understand?"
"Normally, one wouldn't bring a cheating partner to a discussion about dissolving an engagement."
"I agree."
"I'm speechless."
Cyril and I are in complete agreement.
At that meeting, there were Prince Henry and his four close aides, plus the daughter of Baron Gordon, who was hanging on to Prince Henry's arm.
I could understand bringing his aides, but that was just too much.
I didn't tell Cyril about the exact state of those two, but it seems he had his own thoughts.
Speaking with a sense of frustration, he took a sip of tea, perhaps to calm himself down.
"Was it okay?"
"What do you mean?"
"They were all there, but Sophia was alone, right?"
Contrary to his earlier harsh words about Prince Henry, Cyril now wore a worried expression.
However, there's no need to worry.
"There was no problem. I told you, I left immediately."
"I heard that, but..."
"Originally, I only had a slight affection for him as someone who might become family in the future. That affection had almost disappeared recently, so I wasn't sad at all."
"Then, it's fine, but..."
Since I only met Cyril in social settings, I never detailed the feelings I had for Prince Henry.
Thus, I must have worried him.
Seeing this as a good opportunity, I explained to alleviate Cyril's concerns, and he seemed to reluctantly understand.
"By the way, did he offer any explanation?"
"No, he didn't. As I said before, after he proposed the dissolution of the engagement, I just nodded and left immediately."
Cyril, as if something just occurred to him, asked a question.
It seems he was bothered by the fact that Prince Henry offered no explanation for the engagement dissolution.
However, there was no explanation.
Rather, I didn't let him explain.
I didn't think he would give a proper answer, so I judged it wasn't worth hearing and left quickly.
After explaining why I didn't ask, Cyril's eyes widened.
Come to think of it, Prince Henry seemed taken aback by how smoothly things went.
Adding this information about the surroundings at the time, Cyril couldn't hold back his laughter.
"That must have been quite a sight."
"Really?"
After a bout of laughter, Cyril managed to speak.
By "quite a sight," he must mean the state of Prince Henry and the others.
But what exactly does that mean?
Not understanding the content, I tilted my head, and Cyril, finally calming down from his laughter, explained.
"That man had a habit of thinking in a way that suited himself."
"What do you mean?"
"He probably misunderstood and thought you liked him."
"No way."
This time, it was my turn to be surprised.
Finding it hard to believe, I instinctively denied it.
However, Cyril shared information he had gathered from social settings.
Listening to him, it indeed seemed that Prince Henry had been misunderstanding.
"Unbelievable."
"I was also surprised when I heard it from you. I was taken aback the first time I heard it."
"Why would he have such a misunderstanding?"
"Who knows. Maybe someone told him something strange."
Who would do such a thing?
I had no idea, but since there was no point in thinking about it, the conversation ended there.
"By the way, about my parents."
"Yeah, they seem to be quite active."
The next topic was about my parents.
I was curious about how much Cyril knew about my parents' efforts to dissolve the engagement, and he seemed to understand my intention.
Cyril's smirking face suggested that they were being quite conspicuous.
Imagining the scene, I sighed inwardly.
It was really difficult.
Calming my parents after they learned that Prince Henry had proposed the dissolution of the engagement.
