Chapter 2

"Yo, ho"

I dash through the dungeon with a light step.

The dungeon is roughly divided into upper, middle, lower, and deepest levels, but my current destination is the deepest of them all, the 'deepest level.'

Normally, one would descend gradually, but I don't have the luxury of time right now. So, I decide to head straight to the deepest level.

"Haa... I'm so gloomy. I wish I could go home and sleep in once in a while. I'd love to eat something warm too..."

I complain to myself along the way, taking advantage of the fact that no one is around.

The footage is being recorded, but the boss probably won't watch these transition scenes. I should be fine with this.

"My salary doesn't increase, yet the jobs keep getting more dangerous, and it's so frustrating... If I can get two hours of sleep today, I'll consider myself lucky..."

"This is such a black guild, it's a wonder grass can even grow here."

"Stay strong."

"Seriously, isn't the Black Dog Guild too much? They completely ignore the Explorer Employment Act."

"You should keep this recording."

"By the way, the number of viewers is increasing. It was just three at first, but now it's already twenty."

"Maybe it'll hit ten thousand eventually w"

"...The phone is really something."

My smartphone vibrates incessantly.

I don't look at the screen, but it's probably from the company. This phone only has the company's contacts and a few old friends' numbers.

I don't use social media, so it's not a notification from there.

"Well, let's head to the deepest level."

The Shibuya Underground Dungeon has a large open space in the center. So, if I jump down that big hole, I can reach the deepest level in one go.

Reaching the open space, I say, "Yo," and jump down.

Of course, it's a dangerous act, so very few explorers do it. I wouldn't do it either if I weren't forced by some ridiculous quota.

"Kyaaaaa! I'm falling!"

"Is this a suicide stream?"

"I'm going to die! It's scary!"

"What the hell is he doing?!"

"...Huh?"

My smartphone vibrates again.

Falling headfirst, I tilt my head.

"The phone is really persistent today. Maybe something happened, but I'm busy, so I'll ignore it."

I decide to ignore the phone's vibrations.

The drone filming me is still following... I'm not used to being filmed, but it's a rule, so I can't help it.

If I'm this nervous just for the company's records, how embarrassing would it be if I actually streamed? Streamers are really impressive. If I did it, would I get comments?

"Uwaaaaa! How much further is this fall?"

"This is some amazing footage, it's valuable material."

"I came from the bulletin board, what's going on here?"

"Shibuya Dungeon

Misdelivery

Falling"

"Understood"

As I think about this, the ground gets closer and closer.

I'm thinking about preparing to land when a large shadow approaches me.

"Roaaaaar!!"

A red-scaled flying dragon, a Red Wyvern, is flying towards me, roaring. This is definitely a lower-level monster. It seems to think I'm prey.

"What's that monster!?"

"That's a Wyvern! It's quite troublesome, even A-rank explorers struggle with it!"

"Oh well. It's over."

"Those teeth look painful..."

"Kyaah!"

The Red Wyvern opens its large mouth and lunges at me.

I adjust my position in mid-air and grip the sword at my waist.

I pull it out at the last possible moment.

"Ho"

A flash of the sword, and the Red Wyvern's movement stops.

In the next instant, the Red Wyvern's body is cut in half, splattering blood everywhere.

"Phew, that's taken care of."

Having defeated the obstacle, I land gracefully.

I feel a heavy weight in my legs from the fall, but this is nothing to me.

"...Huh? What happened!?"

"The Red Wyvern just split in half!?"

"He had the sword, but he didn't swing it, right? What's going on!?"

"Maybe it's so fast that the camera's frame rate can't capture it?"

"Are you kidding me? I've never heard of such a thing!"

"No, not only the Red Wyvern, but why is this guy landing normally? He fell from nearly 1000 meters, right?"

"It's getting interesting."

"The number of concurrent viewers is skyrocketing. It's already 50,000."

"It's spreading like wildfire on social media. It's a festival now."

"...This phone is so noisy. How many calls are they making?"

Ignoring the constantly vibrating phone, I look ahead.

This is the deepest level of the dungeon, a dangerous area where dangerous monsters roam. I need to stay focused.

"...Well, here they come."

Looking up, I see various monsters appearing in front of me.

Ogres, Minotaurs, Basilisks, and Death Knights. All of them are dangerous monsters.

"Ruru..."

Behind them is a giant dragon with brown scales, the 'Tyrant Dragon.' It's tough, so I don't want to fight it... but it's part of the quota, so I have to.

"Well, it's time to get to work...!"

I grip my sword firmly in my right hand and charge into the crowd of monsters.
