Chapter 101- Apocalypse (2)

“Should we look for some more supplies first?” Hong Qingyi asked as she rubbed her chin.

The two of them are freshmen while Mu Qingli, Chi Mengyan, Duan Hongwum and Song Wenyan are sophomores. The freshmen dorms are on the outermost part of the campus, with one for men and one for women. Then starting from the outer to the innermost part of the campus, it is the sophomore, junior, and then senior dorms.

And they were currently going towards the sophomore dorms which are not too far away from the student cafeteria. There must be a lot of food there, but most of the food in the cafeteria is perishable, so the two of them decided to go to the convenience store nearby. The convenience store is closer to the freshman dorms anyways. As for any survivors that might be in the freshmen dorms, the two of them couldn’t care for them right now. They’ll save some once they return, but as they were planning on going towards the center of the campus, they couldn’t bring any people that might drag them down. After all, there are more zombies the closer they get to the center of the campus.

Gu Anran waved her blade and casually slashed an ordinary zombie apart. The blade was still as clean, as if it was just bought, and reflected the white sunlight on it’s inky surface. If it weren’t for the fallen zombie beside Gu Anran and the obvious sword wounds, most people would have thought the sword hadn’t been used before.

Sure enough, the products made by the system are top-level. Gu Anran thought as she cut down another zombie.

Speaking of zombies, they also have crystal nuclei in them and are the basics needed to upgrade one abilbites. Also later on used as currency between supernatural ability users.

Gu Anran dug around until she pried out a transparent, oval crystal that looked very similar to the gems you would see in a jewelry store. Under the sunlight, it was quite a beautiful thing. Who knows why such a beautiful thing would be inside the heads of disgusting zombies, and only some of them for that matter.

Putting the crystal into her pocket, she began dissecting the next zombie. Meanwhile, Hong Qingyi seemed to have become addicted to playing with her dagger and speed ability. She killed one after another and even attracted some zombies purposefully to her. One dug out crystals and another went on a happy killing spree, by the time they arrived at the convenience store, they had collected nearly thirty crystals.

Since it was during a school holiday, the number of students was less than usual but still quite a bit. After all, it was only a one-day holiday so the students who lived farther away would choose to hang around the school instead of going back home. That’s why there were quite a number of zombies despite it being a school holiday.

Ordinary zombies can be said to be much weaker than ordinary people. Ordinary people have better strength and speed, but it is the irrational fear inside of humans that causes them to be so vulnerable.

The electricity seems to have shut down as well. The two of them were standing outside the automatic doors of the convenience store but the doors did not open. The few zombies inside knocked on the glass excitedly at the sight of the two humans and even the zombie cashiers climbed over the cashier counter towards their perceived prey.

Gu Anran stabbed a hole into the glass with the handle of the store and quickly backed away as a zombie reached her. Although a supernatural ability user cannot become a zombie if bitten, Gu Anran did not want to have a bite wound on her body.

All the zombies inside were quickly killed and the two entered the store. The Shelves were still mostly full and seemed to have been replenished last night. Gu Anran put half of everything into her bracelet, but did not take everything as she wanted to leave some stuff behind for other people to survive off of.

“Anran, the storage is over here.” Hong Qingyi waved to Gu Anran. There was a white door in front of her and the door’s lock was promptly destroyed by her.

Inside the storage were also a lot of resources, but not as much as they would have liked. They looked through the stock and fotoka few boxes of instant noodles, some chocolates, candies, and other high-calorie and easy-to-preserve items. They also grabbed some cold/fever medicine, stomach medicine, and some bottles of mineral water. Now the two of them had enough supplies to last them for some time.

“Let’s go!” Gu Arnan put the packages that someone seemed to have ordered but forgot to pick-up. She had opened it and it turned out to be full of thick warm clothes such as three down jackets. Quite a profit! Satisfied, she called out to Hong Qingyi who was standing guard outside.

“How are the goods?” Hong Qingyi threw her dagger into the air and then stuck it into her scabbard around her waist.

“Enough for us to eat for more than a month and the medicine is quite sufficient. Although they are just ordinary medicine, they will be needed in case of an emergency.

The two of them were just about to make their way towards the sophomore dormitories when suddenly they heard a series of footsteps.

“Anran! Qingyi!” Two familiar voices shouted out, making Gu Anran and Hong Qing jump in surprise.

A small group of people made their way over with Mu Qingli, Chi Mengyan, Duan Hongwu, and Song Wenyan in the lead. “Ahem….I was about to be suffocated to death.” Gu Anran panted for breath.

The arrogant Gu Arnan didn’t notice that besides the glimmer of joy in Mu Qingli’s eyes there was a questioning look in her gaze.

“Why did you come out?” Hong Qingyi did not break free from Chi Mengyan’s embrace, and instead simply raised her head and asked. The plot had said that the male and female leads only decided to break out of the dorms in the afternoon when the zombie population was at its peak. Unlike now where there was practically no danger as only two to three zombies passed by every now and then.

“We came out to find you!” Chi Mengyan placed her chin onto Hong Qingyi’ shoulder as she spoke.

“You guys took out these zombies?” Duan Hongwu stood forward and pointed to the zombie corpses not far behind them. The heads had been dug open and looked a little gruesome. Most ordinary people would have vomited long ago. Should she say that he is worthy of being the male lead to have adapted so quickly?

“Yup!” Hong Qingyi nodded frankly.

“These people are….” Gu Anran pointed to the three men and two women who were trembling as they looked around their surroundings with scared gazes.

“Are you coming along to City A with us?” Chi Mengyan asked, her tone full of certainty, as if she was certain that the two of them would go with them.

“En….” Hong Qingyi nodded blankly and Chi Mengyan smiled at the answer. She looked at the arms around Hong Qingyi’s neck and raised her hand to rub her head.

“It’s not suitable to talk here, we should get out of here first.” Song Qenyan looked at the surrounding zombies that were beginning to crowd around. They were walking towards here as they were probably attracted by the scent of so many living humans.

The others also understood the severity of the situation and quickly arrived at the freshmen dorms. Gu Anran and Hong Qingyi’s dorms were on the first floor and with their keys they quickly unlocked the door and got in.

The dormitory was a little crowded with nine people, no one spoke. No, it was more accurate to say that besides the Gu Anran and the others, the other five hanger-ons had faces full of despair as the heaviness of the apocalypse weighed down on them.

“Qingli!” A cry pulled the contemplating Mu Qingli back to reality. It seems that My Qingli accidentally cut herself against the sharp blade and blood had flowed out.

“I’m fine.” Mu Qingli shook her head quickly and stretched out her hand towards Chi Mengyan. Chi Mengyan then moved forward and placed her hand above Mu Qingli’s injured finger. A green light, that seemed to energize people just by looking at it, flared out and Mu Qingli’s wound quickly closed up at the speed that the naked eye could see.

This is the healing ability! So amazing! Gu Anran sighed in wonderment.

“This is Mengyan’s healing ability. We discovered it this morning.” Mu Qingli whispered. Regarding the rare healing ability, it was better to hide it for now. Even just now, Chi Mengyan had only healed her when her back was turned away from the five strangers behind them.

“Our current plan is to leave the school. Will you go with us? Or stay here at the school?” Duan Hongwu looked at the three men and two women with no expression on his face as he asked casually.

As a young lord of the underworld, he probably just asked out of courtesy on the basis that they were fellow students.

“I-I’ll go with you…” A boy in the front said while the others hesitated for a bit before also repeating his words.

“We will not protect you, your safety depends on you. You also have to find food yourself.” Duan Hongwu said codly.

“Let’s go to the parking lot first. My car is there and Hongwu’s car is there too.” Mu Qingli said.

“Which of you five have a car?”

“M-Me!” The boy who raised his hand for the first time called out.

“Then you guys can take his car. Hongwu and Songyan will take their car, while me, Menyan, Anran, and Qingyi will take my car. Any objections?” Mu Qingli decided directly. Gu Anran and the others had no objection while the five other students did not dare to speak at all.

“Then let’s go now. The zombies are starting to gather.” Hong Qingyi looked out the window and there were more zombies than before. It seems that there are not many survivors left as most of the zombies had made their way from inside the buildings.
