“Who are you people?” A young man in the lead stood forward with a gun. He seemed to be the team leader and he watched with a frown as they tore down the arsenal’s metal fence. He puffed up his chest and proudly said, “This place has been claimed by the Happiness Base. We ask that you leave immediately.”

Ai, why are there always strange things popping up in these places? Happiness Base? Gu Anran complained in her heart. From the plot of the book, this seems to be a base that was close to a military arsenal the female lead had found in the book. So it seems that they were also here for the guns.

He scanned over their faces and their other body parts, “All of you can follow me! There were two big beauties like Mu Qingli and Chi Mengyan, but the others were just delicate or beautiful compared to ordinary people. “Who are you calling a coward!” The young man said angrily. He can endure being looked down upon by a man, but a woman? He couldn’t call himself a man if he lets her do that!

“Hiding behind others, if you’re not a coward, then what are you? A piece of trash?” Gu Anran curled her lips and said sarcastically.

“You two-! Whores! You’re dead, bit*hes!” He jumped up and down before pointing at the people behind him, “Kill them, kill these beasts who don’t know their places! Didn’t you say you were a powerful ability user? Hurry up and kill them, you pieces of trash!”

He was simply pulling hatred onto himself with these words! Not only did he offend the enemy, but he also offended his own people. Tsk, tsk, just look at their darkened faces!

“Ability users?” Duan Hongwu sneered and a fireball appeared in his hand. The others followed suit and except for Chi Mengyan and some of the other ability users who had abilities that could not be seen with the naked eye, everyone else displauyed their own ability. Hong Qingyi even shaved off the young man’s hair, leaving him behind with a shiny bald head.

“Whaaaaaa! My hair!” The young man wailed and covered his head. However, no one paid him any attention as they stared at Gu Anran’s group in amazement. Over a dozen ability users in one group, that was simply a stroke of fortune!! They only had ten ability users in their entire base!

“If you guys don’t have a base yet, why not come over to our base.” The eyes of the middle-aged man shone with the desire for these talents. If these ability users joined his team, hje would become the first team leader with the most ability players in the base and no longer had to take orders from this idiot’s father.

“We already have our own base.” Duan Hongwu said coldly, “I warn you to leave immediately.”

The middle-aged man did not push his luck and simply glanced at the arsenal with some regret before leaving and dragging the wailing young man with him.

After collecting the material they needed, they drove out of the arsenal and towards their original destination. Once they arrived, they loaded the trucks full of cement and returned to the base with a full haul.

When they brought back the tens of thousands kilograms worth of cement, the senior leaders of the base were so happy they couldn’t contain the smiles on their bases. Afterwards, following the orders of Mu Qingli and Duan Hongwu, many of the earth ability users worked together to double the size of their base and thicken the walls by several sizes. They also added height to the already existing walls.

The others were not idle either. They went everywhere to collect supplies and improve their strength. IN a short time, the original team of 20 people became a team of 100 people with 90% of them being ability users. They soon became the strongest and most respected team in the base that required one to pass a strict interview and several guidelines if one wanted to join.

Duan Hongwu and Mu Qingli, as the captains, have quickly entered the high ranks of the base and have earned the right to speak and lead in the base.They were given their positions not because of their original identities, nor their identities as the male and female leads, but because of their extraordinary talents for leadership. Coupled with their tyrannical strength, they soon entered the top ranks of the leadership.

The others also have similarly ended up in high positions.

The development of the base went on smoothly as the combat effectiveness and construction of the base soon surpassed the other bases. It soon became the most popular base in the area with countless people lining up everyday to join them. The population has already grown by three times the original amount, and this was only possible due to some scientific research that was able to find a material that was just as hard as cement and much easier to produce. Thus the walls were able to expand without the need to weaken them with softer and more abundant materials. After all, the walls are the first line of defense and a weak wall was the same as an early death.

The food problem had also been solved with science. They have found that food can still be grown in mutated soil, thus besides some farms within the base, many areas where the zombies have been cleared were turned into large-scale fields. Although the produce was not as diverse as before the apocalypse, it was enough to fill everyone’s stomachs so no one protested. With all the despair that came with the apocalypse, most were satisfied with a full stomach and even if they grew tired of the food selection, they still had to eat.

After they expanded the base to a certain size, Mu Qingli led a couple of people to dig a five meters long and ten meters deep moat around the base. Soon, they hoped that this base would become a grand independent ‘kingdom’.

Within the base, most lived and worked in peace and contentment. Everyone worked diligently for points to exchange for food or other items. However, this peace only lasted on the surface, for right now in the highest-level meeting room, the leaders of the base wore heavy and serious expressions on their faces.

This is because they have gotten the news that the most formidable enemy, the Zombie King, was headed this way with an army of zombies to exterminate them.
