Chapter 111- Back to the real world (1)

「Ding! All main missions have been completed. Points awarded: 530,000. Confirming choice to not stay in this world. Beep….all missions have been fulfilled, conditions for returning to the real world have been fulfilled, and teleportation starts in three, two, one…」

When Gu Anran opened her eyes again she was greeted with a familiar ceiling. Have they…really returned?

She propped herself up and then immediately hissed in pain. Her bones rubbed against each other harshly, cracking loudly as if they haven’t moved in a long time. After moving around a little bit, Gu Anran finally was able to make her way into the bathroom. In the mirror, she saw her familiar face, that delicate little face that she hadn’t seen in a long time and had almost forgotten. Yet, in the end, she was most used to this original face of hers.

She sighed as she washed her face with some water.

“Ahhhhhh….fu*k, my entire body hurts!” Hong Qingyi’s familiar voice wailed outside of the bedroom and Gu Anran walked out holding up her toothbrush to see Hong Qingyi cracking her body as she stretched.

“Hello!” The little ball of light that was the system suddenly appeared.

“My god, why are you still here! Ahhhhh, it hurts so much!” Hong Qingyi had jumped when the system appeared so suddenly and pressed down on her shoulder…CRACK….a crisp sound filled the air….

Gu Anran could only shake her head as she watched HOng Qingyi crack her shoulders with gritted teeth. She made her way to the kitchen and took out some ice cubes to apply on her friend’s shoulders. She then raised her head to look at the system floating above them.

“The missions have been completed, what are you still doing here?”

“I had no other choice, you two still have a lot of points left over! This system still has one more hour before I must leave. If the points are not used within this time limit, then this system will take the points with it!” The system said happily.

“…First tell us what month it is now.” Hong Qingyi sat up and said.

“Some time has passed since the first transmigration and in total, two months have passed in the real world. So today’s date is…August 31st!”

WTF?!!! Their summer vacation just disappeared like this?!! This was the long-awaited summer vacation before starting university! The first day of school had appeared in just a blink of an eye!

Both Gu Anran and Hong Qingyi gritted theri teeth in anger.

“Ah, but shouldn’t the water and electricity have been cut off for these two months?” Hong Qingyi asked. Although they paid their rent every six-months, water and electricity must be paid once a month, so it should have been affected during their absence.

“This is all due to this awesome system! Since the first transmigration, this system has maintained your bodies, the clean environment, and anything else you might have experienced!”

Ohoho, then we really must thank you, but you were obviously the one who forced us to transmigrate in the first place! Now you’re asking for praise? Are you looking for a beating???

“Our leftover point total is….554,000?? So many?” Gu Anran raised an eyebrow.

“That’s because that one shot from the cannon killed countless zombies. A total of one Tier-9, a few dozen Tier-8s, hundreds of Tier-7s, and so on… a total of 1.5 million zombies!” The system explained.

One shot took out 1.5 million?!! That’s one terrifying cannon! Super-tier quality!

“So what can we exchange with our points?” Hong Qingyi asked excitedly.

“Since this system will disappear in a little bit, please only choose items that can be permanently bound. These items are very expensive and this is your only chance, so please make sure to take this priceless opportunity!”

In the pages of the system’s shop that was shown to them, all the supernatural abilities were marked as permanent items but their prices were 10x more than usual. Each ability was at least 200,000 points, meaning that the two of them could only get one each!

“By the way, the skills that were drawn from the lottery can also be upgraded to permanent items! The price is also discounted to half the original price!”

She suddenly felt regret at not drawing more skills earlier, but seeing the weird skills that were drawn, Gu Anran decided it wasn’t worth it in the end.

“Qingyi, upgrade your cooking skill. In the future, I’ll leave all the food and cooking to you!” Gu Anran patted Hong Qingyi on the shoulder.

“….That last sentence revealed your true thoughts!” Hong Qingyi slapped away Gu Anran’s hand with dark lines on her face, but still decided to make the cooking skill permanent in the end as, after all, she had to eat too.

100,000 points disappeared in an instant. They discussed a little more and the two of them decided to choose the same ability, a perfect memory ability. A memorization ability that would be very effective for them as future college students. Now you might ask, why not get a business ability or something similar that might help them make money in the future?

Please, with Gu Anran’s computer skills, they didn’t need anything like that. They had their own digital company that was quite big and they didn’t need more money as they traded stocks in their spare time and made quite a fortune. She also played games with Hong Qingyi and sold services such as carrying people in games, boosting their account, or selling accounts that have rare quest items for quite a fortune. So although the two were shut-ins that stayed inside their small house all the time, they were actually two very rich women.

After exchanging their points, the system slowly disappeared into thin air. Gu Anran even felt a little sentimental as it disappeared because that stupid system did accompany them thoruhg several worlds after all. So she couldn’t help but feel a little emotional.

System: If you’re feeling emotional then don’t call me stupid! You jerk! (╯‵□′)╯︵┴─┴

Ding-dong~

The doorbell rang and Hong Qingyi opened the door to reveal two young men.

“Huang-ge, Su-ge? Why are you two here?”

The two men in front of them are called Huang Lai and Su Chen. They are from the same orphanage where they grew up and are only one year older than them. They were the closest thing to family Gu Anran and Hong Qingyi have. The two were also a couple and even now were still holding hands as they stood there.

“School starts tomorrow! Didn’t you two ask us to drive you to the dorms? You need to go to registration first today, and with less people today it should go faster.” Huang Lai scratched his head and said honestly.

“Uh…wait a second for us.” Hong Qingyi smiled dryly and let the two of them come in first before hurriedly telling Gu Anran to go pack up.

The two of them were admitted to one of the best universities in the country, University A. All students must live on campus during their first year and if they wish to move out later, they can do so after the first year. They can choose to live off-campus or continue to live in the dorms for the rest of the year. Huang Lai and Su Chen are currently sophomores at University A and now they lived together in a 2-bedroom, single family house in an area near the university. One must know that the area around the university is a prime location, with living space costing close to 15,000 per three square meters. You can say that orphans are quite independent people.

After packing up their luggage, Gu Anran looked up some real estate to rent. She was thinking of buying a house in a community nearby to live in. They had over 10 million dollars worth of assets anyways, so they won’t have any problem buying a house.

“Do you want to terminate the lease directly? We’re not going to come back here again anyway.” Hong Qingyi rubbed her chin. The two of them didn’t have a lot of things because they didn’t have a habit of going out shopping often. So after packing up their things, most of what was left was just the original appliances of the house.

“I don’t think I’m missing anything, so go ahead.” Gu Anran nodded as Hong Qingyi picked up the phone and called the landlord to tell them they were terminating the lease. The landlord is a good person and although Hong Qingyi repeatedly refused, he was willing to return 60% of their remaining rent. She couldn’t stop his decision, and soon she received a notification of a money transfer on her phone.

“Let’s go.” Gu Anran said as she dragged her suitcase full of laptops and other devices behind her.

“Coming!” Hong Qingyi tucked her phone into her pocket and picked up her duffel bag to follow.

“Leave the luggage to us!” Huang Lai quickly stood up and said while Su Chen silently took the duffel bag in Hong Qingyi’s hands.

“Thanks, Huang-ge.” Gu Anran smiled as she watched him stuff the luggage into the car’s trunk.

“It’s fine, who are you thanking? Why are you acting so politely? Anyhow, do you want to buy something to eat first? It’s almost noon, but it’ll take more than an hour to get to University A.” Huang Lai pointed at a few food stalls nearby.

“I-I’m buying!” Hong Qingyi raised her hand and ran over before coming back ten minutes later carrying three plastic bags four bentos of fried rice, three meat buns, and four bottles of milk tea.

The four of them got in the car and listened to Huang Lai telling stories about University A and telling jokes every other sentence. It was as if they turned back time back to their childhood.

While Gu Anran was eating her bento of fried rice, she watched as Huang Lai, who was sitting in the passenger seat, affectionately fed Su Chen some food. The cute little couple moment suddenly made her think of a certain person and she felt a little sad.

She closed her eyes and tried to forget the shadow that lingered in her mind.

Just as she was about to fall asleep, she was suddenly shaking and her eyes abruptly opened. They had reached their destination.

“Let’s go, time to get out of the car!” Huang Lai unbuckled his seat belt and opened the car door before running to pick up the luggage in the back.

Gu Anran slowly got out of the car. There were a lot of cars around them and it seems that many students had come to register early and look around the campus. The campus itself was said to be sponsored by the richest people in China, but from the initial glance the campus doesn’t seem very big. However, all the buildings were clean and new so it felt as if the school was newly built and not a university that had been standing there for decades.

“It’s a very clean campus! During the holidays, they tidy up the campus, from trimming trees to painting the building. Overall the school’s environment is pretty good!” Huang Lai stood beside Gu Anran with her luggage in his hands and gave an introduction of the campus with a smile on his face.

“En…” Gu Anran nodded. The environment indeed was not bad, and deserved to be a campus in a prime location.

“Lai…we should get to registration… “ Unlike Huang Lai’s hearty and loud voice, Su Chen’s voice is deep and magnetic. Although his voice is so nice to hear, he didn’t like to speak much. He may not even say more than ten sentences a day and as he got older, he talked even less. Sometimes Gu Anran wondered that when he becomes old, would he start communicating with his eyes and simply stop talking at all?

The four of them strolled down the trail, and except for some fallen leaves, there was no litter on the road. Densely branched trees stood on both sides and they blocked out most of the hot afternoon sun.

Not long after they started walking, they saw a few tents in the distance with tables and chairs arranged beneath them. A sign that said “New Student Registration” hung at the very top and after waiting in line for a little while, it was soon Gu Anran’s turn. The one sitting at the table was a gentle looking female upperclassman.

“What’s your name and department?” The upperclassman asked.

My name is Gu Anran and I’m in the Department of Electronic Engineering.” When she finished speaking, happy squeals sounded behind her and caused her to turn her head. Behind her was a crowd of a dozen good-looking men or women and she stiffened. However, it wasn’t their good-looking faces that made her stiffen, but the two figures that stood at the very front of the group. Similarly, Hong Qingyi’s body started trembling beside her.

Mu Qingli!

Chi Mengyan!
