"Amelia...!?"
Suddenly, Amelia clutched her stomach and crouched down, sending a chill down Logan's spine.
"Milady Amelia!"
The maid, Sylph, also rushed over.
Amelia's complexion was terrible, as if she had just ingested a highly toxic substance.
"Hey! You didn't put anything in it, right...!?"
"N-no! We didn't put anything...!!"
The chef, who was being confronted by Logan, was pale-faced.
"Milady Amelia, are you alright...!?"
Sylph asked, but Amelia remained motionless, her face contorted in agony. Logan knelt beside her.
(Could it be that she encountered some ingredient she's allergic to...?)
There are cases where the body rejects certain foods like peanuts, eggs, or shrimp, and in the worst cases, it can lead to death.
During their conversation, Logan had inquired if Amelia had any such allergies, and she had said no.
(No matter what, this isn't normal...!!)
Logan raised his voice.
"Oscar! Call a doctor immediately!"
"Yes, Master Logan. I will send a servant right away, and they should be here soon..."
While Oscar, who remained calm even in this situation, was speaking, Amelia turned her gaze to Sylph.
"Sylph... I have a favor to ask."
"Y-yes, what is it?"
"Could you please get the cloth bag from the second shelf of the wardrobe in my room...?"
"The cloth bag from the second shelf, right! I'll be right back...!!"
Sylph darted out of the dining room like a rabbit.
"Hey, are you okay! Hold on...!!"
"I'm... fine..."
"How can you be fine...!?"
Amelia looked up at Logan, who was visibly distressed.
(What is that look...?)
It was as if she were a child afraid of being scolded by a parent. Was it fear, or was it due to her physical discomfort?
Amelia's shoulders were trembling slightly.
"I'm sorry... I've caused you trouble."
This isn't the time to say such things! Logan suppressed the urge to shout.
To Amelia, who was on the verge of tears, Logan spoke in a calming voice.
"It's okay, everything will be fine. The doctor will be here soon..."
Saying this, Logan gently rubbed Amelia's back.
"Master Logan...?"
She smiled softly and looked into Logan's eyes.
"You are so kind..."
"Kind...?"
– Me?
"Milady Amelia! I've brought it!"
At that moment, Sylph returned with the cloth bag.
"Thank you... Could you place it there...?"
"Y-yes!"
Sylph placed the cloth bag on the table, and many small bottles tumbled out.
"What are these...?"
While Logan was puzzled, Amelia muttered to herself, "Not this one... Not this one either..." as she searched through the bottles.
"There it is..."
She grabbed a small bottle containing a light green liquid and quickly drank it.
– The change was immediate.
The pale expression on Amelia's face gradually returned to normal. Her shallow breathing became regular, and the cold sweat that had been dripping from her forehead slowly subsided.
"What... is this...?"
"Hmm... This is..."
Logan was astonished, and Oscar nodded with interest.
Amelia took a deep breath, looking much more composed. From her demeanor, it seemed the abdominal pain had subsided.
"Thank you, Sylph. Thanks to you, I'm fine now."
"N-no... I..."
Sylph was flustered, seemingly unable to believe what had just happened.
(I can't believe it...)
Logan felt the same way.
From what he could see, Amelia's symptoms had rapidly improved after drinking the liquid from the bottle. It was reasonable to assume it was some kind of medicine.
(Usually, medicine takes some time to take effect... but the immediate effectiveness of this...)
As a duke, Logan had seen the effects of high-quality medicines several times, but he had never seen one with such potent efficacy.
"The doctor has arrived!"
At that moment, a servant brought the doctor.
"I've come for the emergency. Let me examine the patient first..."
The doctor, with his impressive beard, looked around and tilted his head.
"Who is the patient...?"
