The phone on the desk vibrated lightly just when DuYan finished his work. He brought it up to take a look.
HeJin: Uncle, can you come home today to discuss the matter of the application?
DuYan had been very busy recently. Since he had to leave Nancheng and return to Beicheng, the Xie Group had been handing too much work over and he basically lived in the office lounge almost everyday.
Since HeJin had just finished the college entrance examination, DuYan also thought that his education was also completed, so he no longer controlled him. Now that he calculated the time, they haven’t seen each other for nearly two weeks already.
DuYan was sure that HeJin would choose Nancheng University, but since HeJin took the initiative to mention it, he would go back to watch the other party fill out the form just to make sure.
When work ended that day, DuYan did not stay at the company, but returned to the house he hadn’t returned to in a long while.
When he got home, HeJin had just finished dinner and was spread out on the living room sofa playing games.
Seeing DuYan back, he stood up, and complained a bit, “You might as well move your luggage to the company.”
DuYan didn’t reply and went straight for the stairs, “Say it in the study.”
HeJin has long been accustomed to DuYan's style and of course he wouldn’t get angry over this trivial matter but instead obediently followed him up the stairs.
He even thought in his heart, that just because of his message, his workaholic uncle had rushed back. It seemed that the other party really did attach great importance to him.
When DuYan turned around, he saw a smug smile on HeJin's face. It seemed that the child's exam result should be pretty good since the smile on his face was unrelenting.
DuYan sat down, and didn't talk nonsense. He went straight to the point, “Which university are you going to apply for?"
HeJin talked about his exam results, and then pushed the information obtained from the school to DuYan, "Based on my results and the school’s admissions over the years, I think Nancheng University is the safest."
After finishing speaking, HeJin glanced at the person opposite him, feeling a little guilty in his heart.
What he said just now was nothing but lies.
HeJin’s score was actually 30 points higher than what he just said, and that was a conservative estimate. HeJin knew that he had done well this time.
According to the school’s admissions over the years, it was no problem for HeJin to enter Beicheng University, but he didn't want to leave Nancheng for a simple reason. His uncle DuYan was in Nancheng.
At this time, DuYan only felt a “so it has become like this” kind of feeling. This time, Fang Xiangxiang did not do so well, so choosing Beicheng University would be risky. Even if she was admitted, she might not be able to study under the major that she wanted.
Although Nancheng University was not as good as Beicheng University, it still ranked among the top in China. Because of her local advantages, Fang Xiangxiang would have no problem entering Nancheng University with her grades, and she would also be able to study the major that she wanted.
Fang Xiangxiang's personality was introverted and cautious. Considering all aspects, she should apply to Nancheng University.
As for HeJin, there was no need to ask. He was definitely going to be able to enter Nancheng University, and since Fang Xiangxiang also chose Nancheng University, there was no reason for him to choose another school.
HeJin saw that DuYan didn't find anything unusual so he asked, “Uncle, what do you think? Although my results can get me into Beicheng University, I would have to study some useless major. I think it's better to stay in Nancheng and study the best major.”
DuYan nodded, "That’s fine, there are a few majors in Nan. U. that are quite good. Their ranking isn’t any worse than Beicheng University.”
HeJin was happy, "I also think so. Nan. U. isn’t far from home, so I can easily go to and fro from here. I’m also used to living here, so if I have to live in the school dorm, I wouldn’t be able to stand it.”
DuYan didn't say anything, and just nodded. Although he had planned to return to Beicheng, the house in Nancheng would definitely stay. If HeJin liked it, it was no big deal to let him continue living there.
After the two’s discussion, they chose Nancheng University, and HeJin also chose a major that he liked. So this was what they chose for his university application.
When HeJin was leaving, he turned around and asked, "Uncle, has work been really busy lately?”
DuYan replied, "En."
DuYan originally planned to tell HeJin about his return to BeiCheng during this time, but the moment HeJin was leaving, his intuition told him that it was not suitable to talk about it now.
DuYan swallowed his words down and only said, “There’s been some work being handed over.”
HeJin was a teenager who had not yet entered society after all, and had no idea what this represented.
"Pay attention to your health, and don’t get too tired.” And with that, he left.
Intuition prevented DuYan from telling HeJin that he was leaving, however the accident happened the following day.
DuYan stayed at home that night, and when he arrived at the company the next day, he realized that he had left a document at home. The documents were to be used in the morning meeting, and if he sent back the driver to pick it up, it would be too late.
He thought that since HeJin was idle at home now and had nothing to do, he called him and asked him to send the documents over.
HeJin had been to DuYan's company several times, and he readily agreed. When he arrived at DuYan's company, the meeting had just started, and Assistant Li was waiting at the door for HeJin.
He thought that since it was almost time to eat anyway, and it had been a long time since he last ate with his uncle, he took advantage of this opportunity to wait and have lunch with him.
Assistant Li heard that HeJin wanted to wait for DuYan to eat, so she took him to DuYan's office to wait.
"Why is my uncle so busy these days?" HeJin asked casually when Assistant Li brought in a drink.
Everyone in the company already knew about DuYan leaving, so Assistant Li also thought that HeJin would have already known about the matter, “En, President Xie has too much work on hand and all matters have to be transferred to the company on the new CEO’s side. That’s why it’s been quite busy lately.”
The moment HeJin heard this, he felt that something was wrong, “New CEO?”
"Yes, after President Xie goes back to Beicheng, he won’t be able to manage the company here as easily. So of course he had to hire a CEO to manage it.”
"Back to Beicheng?" HeJin said, "Why is it that he didn’t tell me anything?”
When Assistant Li heard this, she knew that HeJin wasn’t told about DuYan leaving Nancheng.
She smiled awkwardly, "President Xie must have been looking for a suitable time to tell you about this matter….”
At this moment, DuYan's meeting had ended and he had just opened the door to enter. As if Assistant Li was given amnesty, she hurriedly went to the door to leave, and let the uncle and nephew discuss.
"Uncle, you’re going to Beicheng?”
DuYan nodded, "My work here has been completed as scheduled, and you are an adult, so you can take care of yourself."
"Then will you be coming back?”
"There are too many matters in Beicheng. After that, I will probably settle in Beicheng. When I have official business I will come down to Nancheng.” Speaking of this, DuYan seemed to think of something else again, "I will transfer the house in Nancheng to your name. If you like it, you can still live here, don't worry."
"Who cares about that?! I’m not asking about this at all. Why do you--why did you never tell me about your going back to Beicheng!”
DuYan was silent for a moment, and then asked, "I thought, that since you’re an adult already, you wouldn’t need a guardian anymore. I also have no reason to inform you of my itinerary."
"Did you never have any affection in your heart?”
"Even with biological parents, lots of children will leave home for college,” DuYan paused, “And what’s more, I’m just your uncle.”
HeJin stopped abruptly, and he also discovered his abnormality. That’s right, he was only his uncle. But why did he suddenly panic the moment he thought about becoming just ordinary relatives with his uncle. The further they walked, the further their distance, each having their own lives.
In a year, maybe they’ll meet once or twice, maybe not even every year.
HeJin raised his head to look at the person sitting opposite him, whose face was always cold, as if he wouldn’t be moved by anything.
It turned out that in DuYan’s heart, he was just an ordinary relative. A burden he had to carry on his back. Now that HeJin was an adult, DuYan couldn’t wait to get rid of him?
The more HeJin thought about it, the more the anger surged in his heart. He took a few steps forward, one hand pressed down on the armrest of the sofa that DuYan was sitting on, while the other hand grabbed DuYan’s tie.
Having his tie suddenly grabbed, DuYan’s eyebrows finally moved, and looked confusedly at HeJin.
HeJin's forehead veins were pulsing violently blue, and the corners of his eyes were a little red, showing that he was extremely angry.
Although DuYan couldn’t understand why HeJin was reacting like this, he didn’t want to be punched by an angry nephew.
To be honest, DuYan thought that with his current body, there was no way he would be able to beat HeJin, who was invincible back when he was out on the streets, the invincible fighter, HeJin.
He reached out and took HeJin's hand, and used some strength to take him off while also trying to calm him down, “HeJin, you are being too impulsive."
HeJin turned a deaf ear, and lowered his body a bit.
The distance between the two was getting closer and closer, DuYan could even feel HeJin's breath hitting his skin.
Wasn’t this posture like that of one who was going to head slam? DuYan panicked and didn't want to be beaten in such a humiliating way.
He had to stop this bear child.
DuYan slightly frowned, and his voice raised a little, "HeJin, I am your elder, your uncle!"
It was as if HeJin just woken up from a dream. He suddenly let go and took a few steps back, but accidentally stumbled over the corner of the table and sat down on the ground with a big thud.
With that strength, DuYan felt pain just from looking on. Although the child had wanted to hit him just now, but as an elder, he shouldn’t care too much about it right?
He stood up, bent over slightly, and stretched out his hand to HeJin, "It’s not serious is it?”
HeJin avoided DuYan's hand, and basically scrambled out.
DuYan looked at the back of HeJin running away, and was perplexed. He was almost beaten up, but he wasn’t too frightened. Did this child have to go so far as this?
HeJin directly rushed out of the Xie building. He didn’t even bother when Assistant Li came over to the door.
It wasn’t until he rushed to the park on the street, found a bench and sat down. Then, as if he had been drained, no longer moved for half a minute.
HeJin covered his face, and his body was still trembling slightly. He couldn't believe what happened, nor could he believe the thoughts he had in his heart just now.
At that moment, he actually wanted to kiss him, so that the hateful mouth could no longer spit out those excessive words. If the other party hadn't stopped him in time, he would have put his thoughts into action.
"HeJin, are you crazy? That person is your uncle, your close uncle!"
