Chapter 8: Something Didn't Seem Right

In fact, DuYan’s EQ was a bit low. What’s more, he already thought that HeJin and Fang Xiangxiang were officially together and were inseparable. It was impossible for him to think of from another direction.

From his perspective, he saw HeJin stop, frown, and then said nothing.

Maybe HeJin was so angry, that he was speechless. Maybe HeJin still cared about this matter. Don’t just look at the child’s usual rebellious appearance. In reality, deep down in his heart, he still hoped that the parental figure would pay attention to his pitifulness, just like a husky.

DuYan thought about it in his heart, but suppressed his smile on his face. Seeing that HeJin was still dumbly standing there with his thoughts unknown. So he opened his mouth to break the deadlock, “I am very busy, and I don’t have time to stay.”

HeJin came back to his senses, and remembered what Assistant Li said the day before, "I’ll send you out."

"You should go to class." DuYan didn't appreciate the kindness.

"There are still twenty minutes left until class. Your face is so pale, that even ghosts would be scared to death when they see it. It won’t be good if you faint in a corner and scare people.” It was still HeJin’s speaking style, foul and insulting.

He had a terrible headache and didn't want to say much to HeJin, so he nodded, turned and left.

HeJin walked next to him. When they walked by the basketball court. DuYan heard a girl calling out HeJin's name behind him.

"HeJin, please wait a moment."

DuYan looked back and saw Fang Xiangxiang running over quickly.

Fang Xiangxiang stopped in front of them, but couldn’t recover for a while and only gasped for air.

"What is it?" HeJin asked.

DuYan on the side, raised his eyebrows when he heard the way HeJin was talking.

This was the first time that he had seen HeJin and Fang Xiangxiang get along. Compared to when HeJin was talking to him, which was deliberately ambiguous. The HeJin now seemed to be talking tenderly.

During this period of time in which DuYan and the real HeJin got along, this child was a typical rebellious youth. He was hot tempered, rebellious, and born to be bad. He was never able to speak in a normal way.

DuYan was a little worried at first. Just how was HeJin’s violent appearance, going to impress a good girl like Fang Xiangxiang.

Now it seemed like there was nothing to worry about.

Seeing HeJin's gentle manner towards Fang Xiangxiang, the plot in the film was not really aimless and fruitless. This was the springtime of youth. For the love of a girl, he no longer went to school late and left early. There was no more truancy and fighting. And he would even try to fill in the test papers during the exam.

As expected, the power of love was the greatest.

"It’s like this. Hello, you must be classmate HeJin’s guardian. I’m Fang Xiangxiang."

Fang Xiangxiang looked up and secretly took a glance at HeJin’s guardian. She was surprised by how young the other person was and his brilliance. Girls at this age, would always take a couple more glances at excellent males who were a little bit older than themselves.

"I am really grateful for classmate He. If it weren’t for his help that day, I really wouldn’t know what would happen.” Fang Xiangxiang bit her lower lip. "Although the school has commended him, after thinking about it, I still wanted to thank you in person.”

They were both 16 years old, and Fang Xiangxiang was still a cute girl, unlike HeJin with the middle school syndrome, who challenged other people’s bottom line every minute.

DuYan looked at Fang Xiangxiang, who looked a little like a white rabbit. His expression softened a bit, for fear of scaring the shy girl, “This was what should have been done.”

Fang Xiangxiang wanted to say something else, but HeJin stepped forward and stood directly between the two of them, "Enough. It’s not like he saved you. Why are you talking so much to him for. Class is about to start, you aren’t going back yet?”

"Ah." Fang Xiangxiang was still a good girl to her bones. Hearing HeJin say this, she hurriedly ran towards the classroom.

DuYan laughed secretly in his heart again. He was still young, but his vinegar (jealousy) was not small.

"Class is starting soon, are you not going?" DuYan said.

HeJin glanced at him, and found that the other party's face was still as expressionless as before, and his heart was even more upset. When he was facing Fang Xiangxiang, his face had obviously softened by a point, but when the eyes were turned on himself, why did it return to the poker face again.

It was really, really irritating.

"You..." HeJin didn’t even finish saying a word, and he was interrupted again.

"HeJin, I didn't expect you to also have this kind of day!”

Two tall boys walked over from the basketball court, with ill-intentioned smiles on their faces, "Fighting so furiously for a beauty (1) and to please others, just to receive what kind of recognition, tsk tsk…..”

"It's none of your business." HeJin was too lazy to pay any attention to them and left.

"We just think that your licking dog appearance is funny.” (T/N: Trying to flatter someone)

HeJin squeezed his fist, but then glanced sideways at DuYan, his forehead bounced with blue veins, "A good dog knows not to stand in the way of others (2).”

DuYan stood besides him, and after listening to a few words, was able to infer most of the ins and outs. These two boys were the physical education students and were on the school basketball team. So at this time, they would be training here instead of rushing to go read.

HeJin probably had a lot of disputes with these people at school, so these two people took this opportunity to come over and ridicule wantonly.

They were worthy of being called a hot blooded youth, completely ignoring me, his guardian by his side, and directly provoked him. Fortunately, HeJin was a little modest. Otherwise, he would be criticized for fighting on the same day that he got commended, which would be an awkward predicament.

DuYan thought this in his heart, and directly walked past the people and towards the school gates. He was an unfeeling guardian now, why would he meddle in HeJin's affairs at school.

HeJin saw DuYan walking far away, and he became a little anxious. He ignored and pushed past the two people in the way to chase after DuYan.

When he finally caught up to DuYan, he heard a roar from behind him, “HeJin, don’t look down on people too much!”

HeJin looked back, only to see a basketball flying in their direction, but the accuracy was a little crooked, and it was going in DuYan’s direction.

Not good!

HeJin was a person with fast reaction time. At this moment, his agileness was at its max. He grabbed DuYan’s hand and pulled him to his side, but he was too anxious and didn’t control his strength.

DuYan had been in a trance because of fatigue. So when HeJin pulled him like this, he only felt his sight go dark, and the whole person fell.

Before falling into darkness, he saw HeJin’s panicked expression.

...

HeJin sat besides the bed in a daze. The school doctor said that DuYan was too tired. He didn’t eat breakfast, and so his blood sugar was low, which made him suddenly faint.

Thinking of this, HeJin felt a little remorseful. He felt that he was too careless. Assistant Li had obviously reminded him last night that he had to let DuYan rest well.

But this morning, HeJin only thought about how DuYan had rushed back for his sake, and didn’t care about anything else. In addition, HeJin didn’t have a habit of eating breakfast, so he didn’t notice that DuYan hadn’t eaten breakfast.

DuYan laid on the bed, his skin was so white that it almost blended with the sheets. The early morning sun came through the windows and fell on his face, giving him a golden glow, making him look unreal.

HeJin stretched out his hand and probed under the nose of the other party. Air blew over his fingertips, and he breathed a sigh of relief, and then felt that his behavior was stupid.

His eyes fell on DuYan's face again. When this man was asleep, the lines on his face were softened. His eyelashes were dark and dense, like a small black brush.

HeJin looked at it, and his hand felt itchy. He subconsciously reached out to touch it.

Before he could touch it, he saw the eyelashes moving slightly.

Not good!

When DuYan woke up, he felt pain starting in his temples, and his head felt as if it was about to explode. Before he could react to where he was, he heard a loud noise coming from nearby.

Boom—--

DuYan subconsciously got up and looked around. He found HeJin and the chair lying on the ground, and it could only be described as embarrassing.

"What's with you?" DuYan asked out of courtesy,

He didn’t ask where he was, because he was obviously in the school’s infirmary. He had probably fainted from low blood pressure just now, and HeJin sent him here.

"It's nothing!" HeJin’s face flushed and rose from the ground, responding stiffly.

"..." DuYan just looked at HeJin silently and didn’t say any sharp remarks. After all, it was probably HeJin who sent him here, and it wasn’t good to repay kindness with ingratitude.

HeJin brought the chair up and sat down. He took out milk and bread from his clothes and stuffed them into DuYan’s hands, “The doctor said you have low blood sugar. Here’s breakfast.”

DuYan touched it and found that the milk was still warm.

HeJin turned his head and said, "The school doctor said that you were too tired. You only slept for five hours in three days. Do you not want your life anymore?”

The more DuYan saw this scene, the more familiar it was. It was clearly a scene from the movie.

Sorrowful coming of age movies of course couldn’t lack the scenes in which the heroine was sent to the school infirmary by the hero.

The white infirmary, and the white bed. The sleeping girl in her school uniform, with a white face and the white cotton socks. These were simply the best scenes that would move a youth’s heart.

"The Girl I Loved That Summer" was a classic coming of age movie, and this scene could not be not added.

In the movie, Fang Xiangxiang fainted on the ground one day because she didn't eat breakfast and had low blood sugar. HeJin sent her to the health room, and then bought her milk and bread from the school canteen.

He asked the shopkeeper of the canteen to heat the milk with boiling water, and worried that the milk would cool off on the way, he held the milk in his arms and kept it warm with his body. So that when Fang Xiangxiang woke up, she could drink a mouthful of warm milk.

This scene in the movie was really moving, and many fans said that they were touched by what the youth did for the girl in this scene.

If the one lying on the bed was Fang Xiangxiang, then everything should run it’s course.

However, something about this situation seemed a bit wrong. DuYan felt some indescribable nervousness. This warm milk had appeared before him, it wouldn’t cause Fang Xiangxiang to not be able to drink it later right?

This was an important point in the plot. If it wasn’t completed, the dream would collapse.

No, he couldn’t drink this milk!

DuYan thought of this point, and decisively handed the milk back, "I still have work to do, I have to go back."
