What kind of crisis the Jiang Family was facing at present, in his heart, Jiang Yang naturally understood it clearly and better than anyone else. He leaned on the steering wheel and tightly clenched his teeth, regret springing up unbidden inside him. Previously, if he didn’t go back on his words, abided by his promise and obediently gave Yan Su the agreed remuneration, considering that Yan Su would have been a shareholder of the Jiang family, it was most unlikely that he would drag down the Jiang family so excessively and zealously like he was doing at the present.
But now it was too late to say anything, the only thing he could do was to stop loss to the best of his ability.
{T/N: the raws were – 止损 which literally translates to stop loss. It is a term related to finance and is more commonly known as stop loss order. °A stop-loss order is an order placed with a broker to buy or sell a specific stock once the stock reaches a certain price. A stop-loss is designed to limit an investor’s loss on a security position. For example, setting a stop-loss order for 10% below the price at which you bought the stock will limit your loss to 10%. Suppose you just purchased Microsoft (MSFT) at $20 per share. Right after buying the stock, you enter a stop-loss order for $18. If the stock falls below $18, your shares will then be sold at the prevailing market price.°

It was only a long time later that Jiang Yang got off the car and pinched the bridge of his nose tiredly.
“Dad, doesn’t Auntie still have a few shares in her hands? You speak to Auntie nicely and let her persuade Yan Su to stop continuing to harm others without benefiting himself. If he is willing to stop, he can unhesitatingly ask for anything he wants.” Holding expectation, Jiang Yang finally returned home to talk it over with Jiang Zhaolin.
After listening, Jiang Zhaolin couldn’t help opening his eyes wide. “You mean all this was Yan Su’s doing? I heard it long ago that Yan Su saved Secretary Li’s only son when he was abroad. I even thought that it was all a hearsay. All this was actually true?”
Jiang Yang nodded, his face expressionless. The corner of his eyes and the tip of his brows pressed down melancholily.
Jiang Zhaolin’s eyes turned red at once and he banged the table suddenly. “This adopted and unfamiliar white eyed wolf! The Jiang family gave him food and clothing and helped him study abroad. He is wicked to the bones and even went as far as to turn around and bite us as soon as he opened his mouth.”
{T/N: means someone who is ungrateful.}
Jiang Yang looked embarrassed for a moment, but did not utter a sound or a word. He waited for Jiang Zhaolin to finish cursing after he turned out of breath, only saying: “Dad, at present, the Jiang family is implicated by Meng Qian and Fang Yan. It will be detrimental to the Jiang family to deal with the investigation team if they stay any longer. It’s useless to speak any superfluous words. Yan Su now lives in Mr. Huo’s home. Evidently, the Huo family wants to provide for him and support him. Nevertheless, we have to try and think of a way to stop loss.”
Jiang Zhaolin could not believe it and said: “How did he get involved with Mr. Huo again?”
“He did Mr. Huo a favor. You know Ye Shuming? He and Huo Yun have secretly been married for many years. Since a few years ago, there has been no news about him. I even thought that this man was dead. I heard Huo Yun say that due to an accident, he fell into a coma. It was exactly Yan Su who cured that man. Now, we don’t know what Yan Su’s position is over there in the Huo family, but since there is such a layer of relationship, no matter what, we have to be even more careful and improve his fondness for us.” Jiang Yang said.
Only now did Jiang Zhaolin remember that more than a month ago, Huo Qing personally came over to their house to take Yan Su away.
At present, the Jiang family was already a great mansion on the verge of collapse. No matter how Jiang Zhaolin resented his stepson who lived off one person while secretly helping another, he couldn’t really make any mental and physical efforts to spit on and curse him. The top priority was to stop loss, and to redeem it. But then he thought about Anna who simply did not give him the time of the day recently. His heart was shrouded in a clouded haze.
{T/N: >a great…..collapse means in a hopeless situation
>lived off…..another here is used in a context similar to white eyed wolf that is, a person who is ungrateful. Jiang Zhaolin implies that Yan Su was provided for by them but instead of repaying them and being grateful, he helped someone else.
>the time of the day the raws translated to give him good face. It sounded off so I used this.}
“Anna loves Qin Yiran dearly. Moreover, Yan Su is her own son. She may not necessarily help us.” Jiang Zhaolin spoke with a troubled heart laden with anxiety.
“When all is said and done, Auntie still has some shares in her hands. Furthermore, it is impossible for Yan Su to do all this without a purpose. Moreover, it is impossible to really destroy the Jiang family. What good will the Jiang family’s collapse bring him?” Jiang Yang explained.
The father and son pair was already completely hard pressed with worry. After all, at present, Anna was still his wife. One grows luxuriantly, all flourish. One loses, all fall. At noon, when Anna was just about to go out, Jiang Zhaolin conveniently blocked her with a thick face.
{T/N : The literal translation is °One grows/flourishes, all grow/flourish. One falls/loses, all lose/fall.° It is a Chinese phrase which means to be bound together for good or ill. So it basically implies that since Anna is his wife, their losses and gains are tied together.
A thick face here means shamelessness.}
“What’s it? SuSu made an appointment at the spa for me. I have to rush to make it in time.” Anna combed her hair and pulled the collar of her coat, looking at Jiang Zhaolin somewhat impatiently.
His wife looked different from the one in his impression who was gentle and soft like water. Jiang Zhaolin looked at Anna who was still young and beautiful and refused to give him face, looking at him indifferently and he pondered slightly.
“Yan Su has been living outside for such a long time. Give him a call and ask him to come back home.” Jiang Zhaolin felt rather embarrassed and cleared his throat before opening his mouth to speak.
Anna raised her eyebrows slightly and chuckled. “Home? Susu has always been at home. What? You want to invite him to come back? Back here? Is this SuSu’s home? Have you ever regarded SuSu as your son?”
“What are you talking about?!” Jiang Zhaolin was annoyed and stared at her with his eyes wide open.
Anna’s expression changed at this moment, her indifference also ceased to exist. Her eyes were completely filled with anger and hatred. She hurled her handbag and raised her volume as she spoke furiously: “Jiang Zhaolin, that year, Jiang Yang harmed SuSu in such a way, I don’t believe that an eighteen year old child had such capability and excellent means that unexpectedly, even you were unable to see through. You not only wronged Susu, but also went as far as hiding the truth from me, took advantage of the situation and in the end, sent SuSu abroad without uttering a sound. You even let me misunderstand SuSu for so many years. Now that everything is out in the open, have you and Jiang Yang talked with and apologized to SuSu? Twelve years! My son suffered such heavy grievances until now. Unfortunately, only now did I know. Do you know how distressed I am as a mother?! Jiang Yang is your kindred, your flesh and blood. SuSu is my precious darling. After entering the Jiang household, I asked myself how to treat Jiang Yang. I tried my heart out to look after and accompany Jiang Yang. In return, you simply treated my son in such a way?”
Anna panted for breath as tears streamed down her cheeks, her anger and heartache incapable of being expressed in words. When she saw Meng Qian’s segment of the interview, she was able to learn about that year’s actual state of affairs. She wished she could chop Jiang Zhaolin with a knife herself.
“You just want to make me apologize to Yan Su, at least let me see him.” Jiang Zhaolin’s face reached rock bottom as he was condemned by Anna. In such an intolerable situation which wasn’t good for his reputation, he called the housemaid over and let her go out.
{T/N: for one’s face to reach rock bottom means to be thoroughly discredited.}
“Aunt, the Jiang family has become like this now, I know Yan Su is angry in his heart. Now, Yan Su does not agree to see me and doesn’t want to come back home. I hope that on my behalf, you can convey my apology to Yan Su. In my youth, I wasn’t sensible. I was afraid that Yan Su would snatch father’s attention and hence let him suffer grievances. I am fully aware that I owe Yan Su. If Yan Su has any requirements or conditions, I will certainly try my best to make him satisfied. I hope you can persuade him.” Jiang Yang couldn’t sit still and walked into the living room. For the first time, he put down his conceited and haughty manner, turned towards Anna and requested obsequiously.
{T/N: >Aunt in Chinese can have many meanings like – mother’s sister / childcare worker / nursemaid / a woman of one’s parents’ age or stepmother. Here, aunt obviously means stepmother.
>Obsequiously means meekly and subserviently or to speak humbly under one’s breath.}
As a result, what happened was that when Anna wiped her tears, she gave him a careless smile.
“Anna, take it as me begging you. You too are Jiang family’s stockholder. Could it be that you are really going to look on unfeelingly and let Yan Su manipulate and smash the Jiang family? This won’t bring you the least bit of profits.” Jiang Zhaolin spoke.
“Shareholder? I sold the shares which were in my hands long ago. They were bought off at a good price.” Anna said disdainfully.
Jiang Yang suddenly showed a stupefied expression. Why would Anna sell off those shares beforehand? It could only be Yan Su’s idea…….. All of a sudden, Jiang Yang more or less shivered all over even though it wasn’t cold.
This series of things were seemingly pitfalls that Yan Su had prepared beforehand, awaiting him to step in. Jiang Yang felt a chill running up his spine. Only at this moment did he thoroughly understand that he was played with by Yan Su!
{T/N: to be terribly frightened.}
“Jiang Zhaolin, you never treated SuSu as a part of the family and did not even regard Jiang Yang as a family member. If a person like you doesn’t want to spend his remaining years solitary and lonely, then, treat yours and that thing’s love child sincerely.” Anna casually looked at the time, realized that she was quite late, then immediately shoved the dumbfounded Jiang Zhaolin away and left hurriedly.
{T/N: >that thing’s here is used as a derogatory annotation to Jiang Zhaolin’s mistress.
>love child polite way of referring to an illegitimate or bastard child – a child born out of wedlock}
Jiang Yang, as if suffering a blow and a shout, was stunned and looked at Jiang Zhaolin in disbelief. “What? An illegitimate child?”
{T/N: means a sharp/severe warning.}
Jiang Zhaolin was rendered speechless. The shock in his heart was equal and not any lesser than what Jiang Yang felt. Unexpectedly, Anna already knew that he had kept a mistress but had remained silent upto this day!
“Dad, you provided for someone outside, and even had a son?” Jiang Yang questioned.
Jiang Zhaolin felt his mouth parched and tongue scorched. His mouth gaped open, his face flushed red in anger and shame.
{T/N: to be unable to speak / speechless.}
Jiang Yang looked focusedly at his father who was silent and didn’t make any sound. He understood it quite clearly in his heart. He secretly clenched his posterior molars. He coldly hooked his lips into a smile, turned around and left the living room.
At three o’clock in the afternoon, Qin Yiran accompanied Anna in a club after which they strolled around for a while. Then, listening to Anna’s suggestion, she escorted her back home. Soon afterwards, she went back to the company in a leisurely and carefree manner.
Upon entering the office, she saw Jiang Yang sitting on the sofa with a sombre expression. He had already been waiting in Qin Yiran’s office for more than an hour.
“My apologies. I was extremely busy, so I got late.” Qin Yiran took off her sunglasses, placed them on the table casually and sat down across Jiang Yang. She leisurely called out her assistant to bring in a cup of black tea. “Have you considered it carefully? Did you bring the official documents?”
“Chairman Qin must be very pleased with herself today.” Jiang Yang took out dozens of official documents and slammed them on the table. Who knew what thing he smoked, he actually turned sarcastic!
{T/N: I took liberties with the last sentence since I couldn’t for some inexplicable reason, translate it word to word from the raws. Ignoring everything else, just 冷嘲热讽 tired me. It translates to – (with) frigid/freezing irony and scorching/burning satire and means – to mock and ridicule (or with biting sarcasm). Which is fine in itself, just that I couldn’t translate it while trying to fit it with the whole sentence which in itself was seriously testing me.}
The assistant immediately took away the documents and started checking them carefully
Qin Yiran didn’t pay him any heed. Even a dog would jump over a wall when cornered, but this idiot abandoned himself to despair. She softly swayed the small cup of black tea and smiled cheerfully. “If it were not for my good fortune to come across a kind person, I would have already been ruined by you for a lifetime. I would have met a fate even more miserable than that of a beggar. However as you can see, now I am the chairman of the Qin clan, a multi-millionaire. You, a scumbag, once deceived me, took advantage of me and set me up to die. Now, you even have to turn around and beg me to save your life. You tell me, don’t I deserve to be complacent? Of course, I am pleased with myself.”
{T/N: >a dog……cornered means ‘in a desperate situation’
>abandoned…..despair means ‘gave up on himself’.}
Earlier, their marital relationship subsisted for a period of time, and Qin Yiran never refuted him after Jiang Yang said a few words. Always tenderly and considerately took a stand for him and stood behind him, without a shadow of the unruliness of a young lady from a wealthy family.
However, today, underneath all that exquisite makeup, there was not even a shred of tenderness left, even…. even her hatred had ceased to exist. Her gaze was as if looking at a dog only to see if it was obedient or not.
Jiang Yang quietly sat down on the sofa and digested the humiliation he faced at the moment, no longer speaking.
I had exams going on and whatever time I had in between, I read some bl but didn’t translate anything. So, things got delayed. 😉
