Let's go back a little in time, to the scene at the ballroom.
Six, who had been planning to skip the ball, headed to the venue after seeing Cecilia board the carriage in tears.
When he arrived, the place was enveloped in an unusual atmosphere.
The only ones who seemed to be enjoying themselves were his brother, Hubert, and the sly woman who had been lingering around Hubert recently.
"Brother, I saw Cecilia get into the carriage just now... Did something happen?"
Six's sudden appearance at the ballroom made the nobles who were attending the ball hastily bow their heads.
Hubert frowned at the sight of Six.
"What, you came? Hah... Your presence dampens the mood. Go home quickly."
Ignoring the harsh words, Six continued.
"Brother, what did you do to Miss Cecilia?"
His voice was filled with anger, and the atmosphere in the ballroom grew even more tense.
"To Cecilia? Haha... I broke off the engagement with that foolish woman. Ah, what a relief!"
"What!? Brother! The marriage between you and Miss Cecilia is a crucial bond between the royal family and the duke's family! It's not something you can break off so easily. Besides, Father and Mother are not here right now!"
The ballroom buzzed at the sight of the usually mild-mannered Six raising his voice.
Hubert clicked his tongue in response.
"This is none of your business. We'll talk to Father and Mother when they return. Hah, talking to you is exhausting. Get lost!"
When did my brother become such a fool? Six glared at Hubert and turned to walk away.
He left the ballroom and headed down the corridor toward the prime minister's office.
Knocking on the door of the prime minister's office, where the prime minister, Randolph, was working, Six entered.
Randolph, who had been reviewing documents, looked up in surprise and stood up.
"Prince Six, what brings you here?"
Knowing that Randolph was busy with the absence of the king and queen, Six knew he had to act quickly to prevent a rift between the royal family and the duke's family.
"That fool broke off his engagement with Miss Cecilia at the ballroom."
"Wh-What!?"
At first, the prime minister was confused by Six's words, but as he understood the content, his face twisted.
"W-What do you mean... Anyway, we must contact the duke's family immediately and apologize... Ah, why are the king and queen not here at a time like this!"
"No, that fool did it now precisely because they are not here. He used his limited intelligence to think that he could break off the engagement without Father and Mother to persuade him otherwise."
Hearing the repeated use of the word "fool" from the usually mild-mannered Six, the prime minister looked at him with a glimmer of hope in his eyes.
"Hmm... Could it be that your feelings have changed?"
Six looked at Randolph with eyes filled with anger.
"Yes. I finally realized that I can't entrust this country or Miss Cecilia to that foolish brother of mine."
At these words, Randolph inwardly rejoiced, thinking, "Well done, foolish prince! Thanks to you, the sleeping lion has awakened!"
Randolph placed his hand on his chest and bowed.
"I have always believed that you are the rightful crown prince. Have you made your decision?"
"Yes. Contact the others as well. I will show that fool the reality of the situation... The sin of hurting Miss Cecilia is grave."
Seeing Six's burning anger, Randolph bowed in agreement.
