Some time after the engagement was broken, friends visited Cecilia’s house. Because the weather was nice, they had a small tea party set up in the garden.
The treats were colorful pastries brought by the young ladies, and although Cecilia had been restraining herself for the sake of her figure, she now indulged, eating the delicious pastries without holding back.
Seeing Cecilia, who had stopped wearing makeup and fancy clothes, and was now enjoying the pastries, her friends all spoke happily.
“It’s good to see Lady Cecilia being herself again.”
“Truly.”
“Please try this pastry as well. Here, here.”
As they kept offering more, Cecilia couldn’t stop eating.
The friends thought Cecilia had partial amnesia, but they told her that losing her memory might be a stroke of luck.
Then, unexpectedly, the young ladies began to vent the frustrations they had been holding back.
Knowing that it was improper to be disrespectful, they referred to Prince Hubert as “that person” and Evona as “that woman.”
“That person is really the worst. I must say, even with all that makeup, Lady Cecilia was beautiful. And in that dress, I can tell you, everyone was captivated!”
“Yes, yes, indeed.”
“We wouldn’t have looked good in it, but with Lady Cecilia’s beautiful features, that makeup suited her and no one else. And in that dress, oh, it was so alluring, it felt like opening a new door.”
“But that person, really, it’s infuriating.”
“And that woman too!”
“It turns out that woman was making subtle advances to that person all along, and it was all planned!”
“Really! To think she pretended to be on Lady Cecilia’s side, what a woman!”
“And to fall for it, that person is just as bad!”
Gradually getting more heated, they resembled their parents, and Cecilia hurriedly said,
“Please don’t be so angry, everyone. I was the fool for not noticing.”
To this, all the young ladies present spoke in unison,
“It’s not your fault at all!”
The young ladies, breathing heavily, continued,
“We know about Lady Cecilia’s efforts!”
“Besides, if they had a proper grasp of the school’s academic records, they would immediately see how excellent Lady Cecilia is.”
Everyone nodded in agreement.
“The school doesn’t publicly disclose grades due to privacy concerns, but it’s obvious that Lady Cecilia is outstanding, given that she has received prestigious awards like the Best Student Award and the Best Reading Report Award.”
“And that slightly silly way of speaking, it was really, really cute!”
“Even the diplomats from abroad were smitten with that way of speaking.”
As their vocabulary began to decline, Cecilia started to blush in embarrassment.
“It’s embarrassing... please, don’t say any more.”
Covering both cheeks, Cecilia looked up with a troubled expression, and the young ladies said their hearts were pierced.
“Lady Cecilia! It’s good that the engagement was broken!”
“It’s really great that you didn’t have to marry that fool.”
“In a way, we should thank that foolish woman!”
“Oh! Everyone, you shouldn’t say such things.”
Even Cecilia’s flustered cuteness made the young ladies blush.
Just knowing that someone is reading this, I can breathe today (*´▽`*)
