Chapter 6 - Student Handbook

3 min read723 words

Is this the southwest area of the school?

There’s nothing of particular interest here.

That’s why it seems to be uninhabited.

I feel like I could use some rest.

Should I take a break?

There’s no reason to hurry.

Time is limited, but I don’t have to force myself to walk for hours on end.

I’m only about a third of the way through, but I think I’m starting to get a feel for the school.

It would be a very similar scene in the places I hadn’t visited yet.

If that’s the case, there’s no need to rush as long as I can remember the general location.

It would be enough to look around, checking the map and directions.

Fortunately, there doesn’t seem to be anyone else around.

It’s a good situation to rest.

I sat down on a chair in the rest area with the intention of taking a break.

“Fuu.”

It’s a quiet place.

I can only hear the birds chirping, no human voices.

I’m sure it’s just a coincidence, but there seems to be no one around here.

“Come to think of it, is it already noon?”

I looked up and saw that the lunch was just above me.

Most of the students were probably heading to the cafeteria.

No wonder there were so few people around there.

It’s a good thing there’s no one around.

Since I’ll just rest here for a while.

I don’t have the hobby of going all the way into the crowd.

I can always get a meal.

I’m sure the cafeteria is always open.

There is no need or reason to hurry.

I’ve got a lot of free time.

While I’m at it, I’ll open the student handbook I just received at the entrance ceremony and look through its contents.

Because it’s probably a good idea to read it at least once.

The student handbook contains a map of the school and the rules.

I think I should remember some school rules and regulations, but right now I don’t know anything yet.

This knowledge was originally explained to us at the entrance ceremony, but the explanation was so long that we spent most of the first half and the last half asleep.

It wasn’t that I was so sleepy that I couldn’t stay awake, but I just couldn’t be bothered to keep listening to him.

In the end, it was my own fault, but I didn’t listen to him properly because I got bored and fell asleep halfway through.

"

"

So now I don’t know anything.

Well, there’s just too much to remember.

It was declared at the beginning of the entrance ceremony that all the basic information would be written in a notebook so that I wouldn’t have to worry about forgetting it later.

I don’t intend to panic.

…Or rather, that’s why I decided that I didn’t need to bother listening to the long talk and spent the ceremony sleeping in peace.

As a result, I didn’t know anything about the basics of the subject, which meant I had to look it up again.

But I was sure I could find out what I needed to know by checking the student handbook.

Even if there is something I don’t understand, I can always ask a teacher or staff member if I have a problem.

No teacher or staff member will be reluctant to explain.

For now, just the minimum amount of confirmation should be enough.

It’s not like we’re going to have classes and practice from the first day of school.

The only thing the new students have planned for today is to look around the school, figure out where the cafeteria and dormitories are, and get ready to start their lives tomorrow.

That’s why I can take a leisurely stroll around the school like this.

For now, it would be enough if I could get some of the basics down before heading to the dorm.

There is still half a day left of this day.

It would be a waste of time to waste that time in my dorm room.

While continuing my walk around the school, I decided to read through the student handbook in order to organize the information I had in order to make it easier for me to decide what to do in the future.
