Chapter 7 - Types of Magic

Now,
The first thing to know about the classes at this school is that basically all of them are held in the classrooms of the school building.
There are three main types of classes.
The first is the “offensive” magic classes, which are held on the second floor.
Secondly, there seem to be classrooms on the third floor for ‘auxiliary’ magic classes.
Thirdly, there are classrooms for “recovery” magic, on the fourth floor.
Incidentally, the first floor seems to have all sorts of facilities, such as the staff room and the doctor’s office.
I am having some financial difficulties but I heard that there is also a store that sells grimoires.
I’m a little curious about it, but I guess I can check it out later.
First, let’s talk about the classes.
There are three main types of magic.
Attack, support, and recovery.
And for each type there’s,
[Introduction] …Which is Basic Theory.
[Elementary] …Simple Techniques.
[Intermediate] …Basic Magic.
[Advanced] … High-level Magic.
[Highest] …The best magic.
It seems to be divided into five categories.
Among them, they are further subdivided according to their attributes and effects,
And so, there are 500 classes in total.
Perhaps this is why the school building has so many rooms.
Each class can be taken at any time and on any day, but it clearly states that they are not compulsory.
Just because you’re at school doesn’t mean you have to attend all the classes.
Perhaps the classes are left to the student’s own initiative.
It seems that it is up to the individual to decide which classes they want to attend and what direction to pursue in their studies.
You can choose to focus only on the attack, or you can focus only on recovery magic.
That’s why it’s up to each student to decide what they want to study, and what magic they want to learn, and they are allowed to choose so freely.
To put it in an extreme way, we may be allowed to choose not to participate in any class if it is unnecessary.
I don’t think there are many students like that, but it’s possible to study on your own with the vast amount of books and grimoires stored in the school.
That seems to be one of the basic policies of the school.
The student handbook contains countless information about the school’s policies and rules, but the most interesting part of it was the graduation exam.
The graduation exam is to be approved by all ten of the school’s examiners, who are chosen by raffle or recommendation.
Just by looking at that sentence, I can instantly feel the difficulty of the exam.
If I only look at the text, it seems simple enough, but there are several problems to be considered when putting it into practice.
First, if the examiners are selected by chance, there will be no way to prepare in advance.
This is because we don’t know which teachers will be chosen, we have to figure out the competence of all the teachers, or be better than every teacher.
Second, if it’s a battle, you would have to expend an extraordinary amount of power to fight 10 people in the exam.
Regarding this, will you be able to fight with all your might from start to finish and attack aggressively?
Or will you think about how to allocate your power and fight passively?
Either way, you will need to have a lot of ability and experience.
The third problem is that it is not necessarily a 10-round tournament.
It could be ten vs one.
And above all, it’s not always a match.
It could be any situation, such as a practical magic skills test or the fulfillment of a specific condition.
…Rather, it should be more of a non-combat test.
Otherwise, it would be too difficult and impossible to graduate.
Fourth, it is not so easy to graduate with this ability at the very beginning of the school year.
In my case, I am looking for pure combat skills.
That’s why I would need to be at least good enough to beat all the students at the school.
If you are in the academy, you must be either ‘not good enough to pass the graduation exam’ or ‘not good enough to take the exam in the first place.
First of all, you should assume that you are finally good enough to take the exam at the top of the student body.
Of course, it is possible that there are students who are enrolled in the school of their own volition.
I still don’t know why the top students are not graduating, but I do know that a small number of them are daring to remain in the program without taking the graduation exam.
The reasons may vary.
They may want to study more.
Or they want to be students without working.
I can’t guess their personal circumstances, and I can’t think about it, but I think there is an option to not graduate with a purpose.
Now the part that I can’t figure out yet.
If you spend some time at the academy, you may find it natural.
First of all, you have to make an effort.
There is no other option.
I read through the contents of the student handbook for a quick review of the rules and graduation requirements.
Then, after reading through all of the documents I received at the entrance ceremony, I tossed all the documents I no longer needed, except for the student handbook, into the nearest trash can.
That’s enough.
I’ve got a rough idea of what’s going on.
The rest would be reconnaissance.
I check the direction of my destination.
My current location is near the south of the women’s dormitory that stands in a row on the west side of the school.
When viewed from the school building, the direction is southwest.
From here to the desired location would be a 15-minute walk in an easterly direction?
“When you actually walk around like this, it’s a pain in the ass to see that it’s too big.”
"
"
Although the multiple men’s and women’s dormitories are built somewhat densely together.
The school buildings, event halls, cafeterias, libraries, and various other facilities are built roughly 500 meters apart.
Therefore, if one were to pass through multiple facilities to reach a destination, one would naturally have to walk a reasonable distance.
Perhaps as one becomes accustomed to living here, one’s scope of activities will become more defined and less of a concern, but for a beginner, this is not likely to be the case.
Like me, I suspect that many of the new students are at a loss when they actually walk around the campus.
Of course, the map in the student handbook will tell you which way to go.
Isn’t it the same for everyone who gets tired of walking by the distance too far to actually walk?
The people gathered at the school are magicians.
I understand that the distance between the various facilities is widened to ensure safety in case magic is used for some reason.
However, this has caused the problem that it takes more than 20 minutes on foot from the central school building to distant destinations.
I’ve had to walk less than an hour just to get from one end of the academy to the other in a straight line.
Perhaps a typical student’s basic daily activities would be to set up a basic area of activity in the dormitory and school building and then head to other facilities as the situation demands.
That may be normal because the school is designed for long-term attendance.
Although that much is understandable.
It is a pain until you get used to it.
But still, nothing will start unless I start moving.
For the time being, I decided to slowly walk toward the venue where the “certification test” which will be an assignment from tomorrow, will be held.
