Chapter 6: Dawn Breaks, Baby Cries

3 min read770 words

Qin Liuxi was angry.

To be honest, as a soul from another world, she didn't have much affection for the Qin family. When she was transported here, it was when her original self was just five years old, having been sent back to the old house to be raised, living a life of self-reliance.

Although it wasn't her original wish, by occupying the body of her original self, she became entangled with the Qin family. She had a causal connection with these people, but in terms of affection and importance, the Qin family truly didn't measure up to the siblings Qihuang and Chenpi, who were by her side.

Now, the old lady of the Qin family still didn't trust her and was preventing her from saving someone, which really infuriated Qin Liuxi.

"Old Lady, are you sure you want to stop me? If we delay any longer, it will be a tragedy of three lives lost," Qin Liuxi said coldly, pointing to the person on the birthing bed.

"Mother, Third Sister-in-law is about to pass away," Qin Meiniang said, her voice trembling with tears.

Everyone was shocked and turned to look.

They saw Gu Shi, pale as a sheet, her eyes tightly closed, and the rise and fall of her chest so weak and slow that it was barely visible.

In this state, even if they called another doctor, it would probably be too late.

The old lady of the Qin family looked haggard, took a staggering step back, and tears streamed down from the corners of her eyes.

"Old Lady, let Miss Qin use the acupuncture. If we delay any longer, it will be too late," the midwife said nervously. Although she was used to seeing the tragedy of two lives lost, the loss of three lives would be a grave sin.

As a midwife, she naturally wanted to see the mother and child safe and sound, which would be good for her reputation.

Wang Shi pursed her lips and advised, "Mother, we have no choice."

It was like treating a dead horse as if it were alive; they could only leave it to fate.

The old lady of the Qin family closed her eyes, turned her face away, and nodded heavily.

Whether it was a blessing or a curse, if it was a curse, they couldn't avoid it. They could only hope that heaven would show mercy.

Qihuang had already lit a stick of incense, focused her mind, and calmed the atmosphere. She then dissolved the talisman that Qin Liuxi had prepared in warm water and approached the bed.

Seeing their compromise, Qin Liuxi huffed and, with a cold expression, picked up the golden needles and directly inserted them into the major acupoints of Third Madam Qin.

Two gasps echoed.

Qin Liuxi turned her head and glared coldly, annoyed by the noise.

The old lady of the Qin family was also terrified, her face pale, and her hands trembling uncontrollably.

Gu Shi let out a faint sound and slowly regained consciousness, her pupils gradually focusing, but her eyes were filled with despair.

"Drink it," Qin Liuxi said, taking the cup of talisman water from Qihuang and bringing it to her lips.

Her voice was cold, like a cold spring entering the ear. Gu Shi subconsciously opened her mouth and, under the stunned gazes of everyone, drank all the water.

Qin Liuxi then took several more golden needles and inserted them into her body, at the bilateral Zhiyin, Hegu, and Sanyinjiao points, with steady and quick movements.

"Try to be strong. If Third Uncle receives the good news of your safety, he will be comforted on his exile journey. But if it's a tragedy of three lives lost, he might not survive either. If your sister loses her mother and father at a young age, how tragic would that be?"

Her words, though harsh and cruel, were like a strong stimulant, making Gu Shi shed tears and feel a surge of strength.

She couldn't die; she had to live, for the sake of her children.

"Midwife, come here," Qin Liuxi said, glancing at the midwife, while she continued to manipulate the golden needles and recite an unknown incantation.

The midwife responded, gave a few instructions to Gu Shi, and pushed on her belly.

This scene, as seen by the old lady of the Qin family and the others, made them look at Qin Liuxi as if she were a monster, filled with shock and fear.

The girl before them seemed different from other girls.

Dawn broke, and a baby cried.
