Rong Jun stepped into Zhou Yinglan’s room and carefully closed the door behind him.
“Mom, what did you want to see me about?”
“I asked you here for tea.” Zhou Yinglan lifted the teapot and poured into the empty cup across from her, a sweet, fruity aroma rising with the steam.
Rong Jun let out a soft sigh, walked over, and sat down opposite her.
“I don’t like tea. How would I know how to appreciate it? Just get to the point.”
A faint smile curved Zhou Yinglan’s lips.
“I hadn’t planned to act so soon, but your uncle thinks the timing is right. He’s going to make a move.”
Rong Jun frowned. “A move? Against the Rong family?”
“Yes.”
“Why didn’t Rong Li tell me?”
“He was afraid you’d worry too much and asked me to find a reason to send you back to your apartment near the school first. But even if we hide it from you, we can’t hide it from the media. Sooner or later, everyone will know, so there’s no point keeping it from you.”
“So you called me here just to send me away?”
“You will go back, won’t you?”
Rong Jun fell silent for a long moment. His gaze darkened slightly as emotions surged, then settled into a quiet sigh.
“At this point, the only thing I can do is tell him not to worry about me. There’s nothing else I can do.” he muttered, accepting that for now he can’t do anything to help his brother, but surely in the future he will aid him when he is finally able.
“…I’ll leave tomorrow.”

Rong Jun almost picked up his own cup to check if it had been spiked with alcohol since his mother was rather acting up again.
Not that he hated it.
“Make sure you call me when you do. A scene like that only happens once in a lifetime.”
“I won’t just call you… I’ll call everyone who should and shouldn’t be there.”
Rong Jun looked at her and smiled.
His mother had always stood high above him, a proud white peacock he admired and followed.
…
By the time Rong Jun left Zhou Yinglan’s room, most of the heaviness in his chest had faded.
But when he stopped in front of his own door, his heart suddenly skipped a beat. He remembered the promise he had made to Yan Chen earlier.
His face flushed. He ran a hand through his hair, dusted off his clothes, and paced back and forth outside the door, hesitating.
Two or three minutes later, the door suddenly swung open. A strong arm shot out, grabbed him mid-step, and pulled him inside.
The world spun the moment he crossed the threshold.
“W—wait… Yan Chen, hold on!”
Rong Jun wasn’t really resisting, just startled.
But Yan Chen’s patience had clearly run out.
“If we wait any longer, you won’t be able to get out of bed tomorrow.”
He carried Rong Jun into the bedroom and kicked the door shut behind them. A sharp click followed as it locked.
“Ah… wait… Yan Chen…”
…
(One month later)
“Ugh, it’s so hot, Qingqing.”
Yan Chen, who was shirtless, walked into the living room and saw Rong Jun lying on the carpet, absorbed in a stack of documents. Without hesitation, he went over.
But instead of lying beside him, he lifted Rong Jun’s shirt, exposed the cool skin beneath, and draped himself right on top of him, making him his cooling ice.
“You really are…sigh…” Rong Jun let out a heavy breath, equal parts of him was annoyed and amused. “I’ve told you so many times, if you’re hot, stay in the bedroom with the air conditioning.”
“I don’t want to.” Yan Chen stubbornly buried his face in Rong Jun’s neck. His weight forced Rong Jun to set the documents aside and pat his head.
“You’re too heavy. I can’t read like this.”
Yan Chen lifted his head. “Am I not more interesting than those documents?”
“What kind of comparison is that? Stop messing around and get up.”
The man on top of him looked exactly like the unreasonable partners he used to see on TV, something that once annoyed him.
And yet… Now, he found it oddly endearing.
Yan Chen let out a dramatic sigh. “I can already see my future. Working overtime every day, coming home to an empty house…”
He sat up, pulled Rong Jun into his arms, then casually tugged off his shirt and tossed it aside. Wrapping himself around him, he clung to him tightly.
Rong Jun struggled a little, but it was useless.
“Is your grip some kind of supernatural strength? Why is it so tight?”
Yan Chen looked pleased, enjoying the coolness of Rong Jun’s body. Resting his head on his shoulder, he closed his eyes as he basked on the comfortable feeling of their skin touching.
“You’re cool. It feels nice.”
Rong Jun shook his head and ruffled his hair. Giving up, he reached for the documents again and continued reading.
Since returning from the Rong family manor a month ago, Yan Chen had naturally moved into his apartment. As the weather grew warmer, he found every excuse to cling to Rong Jun, becoming more and more attached.
At first, Rong Jun would blush and push him away. But after constant persistence, he had gradually grown used to it.
Sigh…
Lately, he seemed to be getting used to a lot of strange things, and thise strange things always involved him.
