Chapter 56 of 93

Ch55 - (II). Uncontrollable Jealousy

3 min read721 wordsMature

With most of the semester’s courses already completed, Rong Jun’s responsibilities in the student council grew increasingly heavy, filling nearly all of his free time between classes. He was constantly surrounded by people, leaving him with only brief moments in the mornings and at night to spend alone with Yan Chen.

But even those moments were scarce. Between classes, meetings, and assignments, Rong Jun was utterly exhausted. Each night, after finishing his work and taking a shower, he would fall asleep almost the moment his head touched the pillow.

Yan Chen was deeply dissatisfied with this.

He felt for how busy Rong Jun was, yet at the same time resented the people constantly surrounding him. Still, he hid those emotions well in front of Rong Jun.

Though sometimes… they slipped through.

“Qingqing.”

“…Mm?”

Rong Jun lay in Yan Chen’s arms, eyes heavy from slumber. He could barely keep them open, his consciousness drifting as his voice came out soft and unfocused.

“You’ve been surrounded by more and more people lately.”

Yan Chen’s expression remained calm, but a faint, dangerous glint flickered in his eyes.

Rong Jun wrinkled his nose slightly and snuggled closer.

“The student council handles a lot of things… you can’t avoid people…”

The recent drop in temperature only made him more inclined to stay close to Yan Chen at night.

“Go to sleep. I won’t bother you anymore.”

Silence settled over the room. Moonlight filtered through the window, casting a pale glow, as if everything had returned to its serenity.

After a while, Rong Jun suddenly lifted his head and lightly brushed his lips against Yan Chen’s chin before settling back into his arms.

“Good night…”

Yan Chen opened his eyes, slightly surprised. The darkness in his gaze softened, replaced by a faint smile.

“…Good night.”

…

Peace didn’t last long.

By the next day, the same crowd had gathered around Rong Jun again.

This time, Yan Chen didn’t dare approach. He stayed hidden in a corner of the building, forcing himself to look away, but the unease inside him only grew stronger.

Those people… Their hands would occasionally brush against Rong Jun.

That was only what he could see. What about when he wasn’t looking?

Were they closer? Could they catch his scent? Could they see themselves reflected in Rong Jun’s eyes?

Dark thoughts crept in, slowly devouring his rationality. Veins stood out along his forehead, his gaze darkened with anger, and his expression twisted into something frightening.

Yan Chen took a deep breath, bracing a hand against the wall.

Rong Jun wouldn’t betray him. This was different from before.

In this life, Rong Jun had loved him from the very beginning. Nothing would go wrong between them.

Gradually, his expression eased. He steadied himself, cast one last glance at Rong Jun, and prepared to leave, deciding not to disturb him.

But then—

His gaze froze.

His pupils shrank violently, and the calmness on his face shattered like glass, cracks spreading through it in an instant.

Because he saw someone who should never be near Rong Jun—

The one who had caused their final breakup.

[Bang!]

A deep dent appeared in the wall as fragments scattered across the floor, some stained red, stark against the sunlight streaming through the window.

The noise drew the attention of passersby, but most quickly looked away. Yan Chen’s expression was terrifying! Dark, ferocious, and chilling.

Not far away, Rong Jun had been chatting with a tall snow leopard. The sudden sound startled him as well.

When he realized it was Yan Chen, he froze for a moment, confusion flashing across his face.

After a brief pause, he handed what he was holding to the snow leopard and ran toward Yan Chen without hesitation.
