Yan Chen had been striding toward them aggressively, but the moment he saw Rong Jun running toward him with a serious expression, he froze. His body trembled slightly as he stood there waiting fro Rong Jun to reach him.

Regret crept in almost immediately.

He shouldn’t have acted so impulsively.

‘Qingqing looks angry… what should I do? I should apologize first.’ he thought desperately.

“Qingqing, I—”

Rong Jun didn’t even hear the rest. His eyes were fixed on Yan Chen’s bleeding hand.

He rushed over, grabbing it, his movements unexpectedly gentle. His brows were tightly furrowed, and his eyes filled with worry as he looked at Yan Chen with a scolding look.

“How did this happen?”

Yan Chen blinked, swallowing the rest of his words.

“I… accidentally hit the wall.”

“Are you an idiot? The wall’s right there, how do you even manage to hit it like that?” Rong Jun snapped, but his voice faltered as he looked at the injury. “Come with me to the infirmary.”

“…Okay.”

…

It was lunchtime, and a sign hung on the infirmary door: “Lunch Break”

Rong Jun didn’t bother with the sign. He pushed the door open and pulled Yan Chen inside.

The room was stark white, filled with the sharp scent of disinfectant. Three narrow beds lined one wall, while cabinets and a desk stood on the other.

“Sit.” he ordered.

After giving the order, Rong Jun went straight to the cabinet and rummaged through it until he found a first-aid kit.

Fortunately, the wound wasn’t deep enough to require stitches. Otherwise, he might have already called an ambulance.

He dragged a chair over, sat down opposite Yan Chen, and pulled his injured hand onto his lap. As he cleaned the wound, he scolded him sternly.

“How old are you to be doing something this stupid? Where were you even looking?!”

Yan Chen shrank back slightly under his tone, his ears drooping.

“…At you.”

“You still dare talk back?” Rong Jun shot him a glare, though his hands remained gentle as he worked.

“…I didn’t,” Yan Chen muttered, sounding wronged.

His words were cut off. A hand suddenly gripped the back of his neck, pulling him forward, in a split second, his lips were captured in a forceful kiss.

The movement was so abrupt that his arm knocked over the disinfectant bottle, sending it spilling across the table and onto the floor.

The kiss was rough, suffocating, devoid of gentleness, filled only with urgency and something close to desperation. Rong Jun struggled to breathe, his lips aching from the force.

He tried to speak, to push him away, but the grip at his neck didn’t loosen. Every attempt to turn away was met with another pull.

Finally, he shoved against Yan Chen’s shoulder and broke free.

“Yan Chen!”

The sharpness in his voice snapped Yan Chen back to himself.

However the anger in Yan Chen’s eyes remained. His gaze was dark as he stared at Rong Jun.

“Do you like him that much?”

Rong Jun was still catching his breath, his face flushed. Confusion and irritation mixed in his expression.

“What do you mean ‘like’? What are you doing all of a sudden?”

That resistance only made things worse.

The coldness in Yan Chen’s eyes deepened. He grabbed Rong Jun again, almost frantically.

“I’m asking you, do you think he’s better than me?!”

“I don’t even understand what you’re talking about. Calm down.”

Rong Jun was genuinely confused and a little shaken. He had never seen Yan Chen like this before.

He removed Yan Chen’s hand and turned to clean up the spilled disinfectant.

But before he could take a step, arms wrapped tightly around him from behind.

Yan Chen buried his face in the crook of his neck as he rained him with apologies.

“I’m sorry… Qingqing, I was wrong. Don’t leave me alone please.”

Rong Jun froze, processing everything that had just happened.mAfter a long moment, he turned slightly and gently ruffled Yan Chen’s hair.

“Did you misunderstand something?”

Yan Chen stayed pressed against him for a while before slowly lifting his head. His eyes were red, a thin sheen of tears forming.

“…I’m sorry. I was too impulsive.”

Rong Jun’s chest tightened at the sight.

He cupped his face, brushing his thumb gently across the corner of his eye.

“Did I make you uneasy?”

Yan Chen shook his head at first, then, under Rong Jun’s gaze, slowly nodded.

Rong Jun fell silent.

Looking back over the past months, he realized he had neglected him. Too busy, too surrounded by people… and he hadn’t noticed the changes in Yan Chen.

Yan Chen had always been sensitive. And he had overlooked that.

Being busy was his own issue, but neglecting his partner was something they both carried.

He might not have been wrong as himself…but as Yan Chen’s lover, he had failed.

“I’m sorry,” Rong Jun said softly. “It’s my fault for making you feel this way. I’ll be more careful from now on. Forgive me, okay?”

Yan Chen stared at him, stunned.

He had never heard words like this before.

In the past, Rong Jun had only rejected him, calling him extreme, selfish, pushing him away.

But now— he was different.

Yan Chen’s vision suddenly blurred.

“…Why are you crying?” Rong Jun panicked slightly, wiping at his tears with his sleeve. “I’m sorry, I’ll do better. Don’t cry.”

The tears only fell harder.

Like a quiet storm—relentlessly pouring down.

Rong Jun didn’t know what else to do. In the end, he leaned forward and kissed him gently.

“Don’t cry… okay?”

Yan Chen froze at the gesture.

“You kissed me.”

Rong Jun flushed hearing the shock in his voice. “What? You’re allowed to force a kiss, but I can’t kiss you back?”

“…I want another one.”

Yan Chen’s voice was still shaky, carrying a lingering grievance.

Rong Jun’s heart softened completely. Setting aside his embarrassment, he leaned in and kissed him again. Only then did Yan Chen finally calm down.

“Alright, let go. I need to clean this up.”

Yan Chen obediently released him, but followed close behind, tugging at his clothes like a clingy shadow.

Rong Jun didn’t say anything, but inwardly found him oddly adorable, like a large, needy dog.

After cleaning up, disinfecting the wound again, applying ointment, and bandaging it properly, Rong Jun left a note for the school doctor before they headed out.

On the way, Yan Chen tugged at him again, his voice soft and slightly hoarse.

“Qingqing…”

Rong Jun’s heart softened instantly hearing the endearment. “What is it?”

“Tomorrow’s Saturday… can we… tonight?”

Rong Jun hesitated.

Immediately, Yan Chen’s expression fell, his ears drooping.

“…Alright.”

“Twice.”

“That’s enough.” Rong Jun narrowed his eyes in warning.

“Okay.” Yan Chen brightened instantly, smiling as if nothing had happened.

Rong Jun’s resolve… really was far too easy to break.
