The moment Rong Jun stepped into the room, he was roughly dragged onto the bed.

Yan Chen, having lost control, said nothing. His brows were tightly furrowed as he pinned Rong Jun’s hands down, his other hand tearing at his clothes.

The thicker fabric of Rong Jun’s autumn clothes resisted at the tugging at first, catching against his skin, causing sharp pain from the friction.

Rong Jun couldn’t help but struggle. “Ah… Yan Chen, what are you doing? That hurts… don’t!”

To Yan Chen, that resistance only looked like an attempt to hide something. His expression grew darker, his eyes brimming with violence.

“What? Afraid I’ll see what he left on you?”

The words cut like a freshly sharpened blade, slicing deep and scraping against the bone of Rong Jun’s body, leaving a searing pain behind.

Rong Jun had already been working through the night, exhaustion weighed heavily on him.

He was usually composed, but now, he faltered. His eyes reddened instantly. He knew Yan Chen was speaking out of anger, so even though he felt wronged, he didn’t blame him.

“I didn’t…”

Pain throbbed through Rong Jun’s heart seeing his wolf cry in fromt of him. “Yan Chen…”

“Why do you still want someone else…?” Yan Chen murmured, bent on the idea that Rong Jun was seeing someone else.

“What do I have to do to make you stay?” Tears fell from Yan Chen’s eyes, landing on Rong Jun’s cheek.

“Why do you always want to leave me?” Yan Chen kept repeating this line as he buried his head on Rong Jun’s chest.

Rong Jun said nothing. He simply waited. He watched Yan Chen’s expression shift, from anger, to pain, to self-blame.

Gradually, the tight grip around his wrist loosened.

Then Yan Chen staggered back, hitting the wardrobe before collapsing to the floor.

Silence then engulfed them.

Rong Jun wiped his eyes, then stood and walked over. One by one, he removed his clothes, shirt, trousers, then the last layer of his clothes until he stood completely bare before him. Aside from the red marks left by Yan Chen’s rough grip, there was nothing else on his skin.

Yan Chen looked up, his gaze hollow.

Rong Jun knelt in front of him, took his hand, and guided it gently to his body to show him that he didn’t commit any infidelity.

“I haven’t done anything to betray you.”

For Rong Jun, having to prove his innocence like this was deeply humiliating. But compared to his pride, Yan Chen mattered more.

“If this helps you feel at ease… then do what you need to.”

His voice carried no resistance, no stubbornness. He looked straight into Yan Chen’s red eyes, gently wiping away the tears before leaning forward, pressing his forehead against him and brushing a soft kiss against his eyes.

In Rong Jun’s heart, he would never doubt Yan Chen. The security Yan Chen gave him had always been enough for him to devote himself fully to his work without fear.

But he realized now, he had never given Yan Chen that same assurance.

Yan Chen pulled his hand back and drew Rong Jun into his arms, burying his face in his neck like a child. His tears dampened the skin there as he clung tightly, as if afraid he might lose him.

His voice trembled with suppressed sobs. “Don’t… go with anyone else…”

Rong Jun’s chest tightened painfully at those words. He wrapped his arms around Yan Chen, his fingers threading into his hair, holding him close.

“No one can take me away from you.”

Yan Chen had always been composed, capable, and dependable, someone who handled everything with ease. But beneath all that, he was sensitive and fragile.

Rong Jun had sensed that caution, that quiet insecurity before. It had eased over the past two years, enough for him to forget.

But perhaps… Yan Chen had never truly let it go. He had only buried it just so that he wouldn’t worry about him, which made Rong Jun even more guilty for not noticing.
