"Damn it! You bastards!"
Old Jack roared hoarsely, lying on the ground, ignoring the blood streaming down his face. With his right hand, he reached into a hidden compartment at the edge of the carpet and grabbed a crossbow that glowed with a faint blood light. Three dull thuds of the bowstring sounded, and two of the men who had rushed into the room let out agonized screams as they stumbled backward and fell.
One of the men had an arrow pierce his throat, which exploded upon entry, severing half of his neck. This man was just an ordinary person, not like Yin Xuejiao with his inhuman regenerative abilities. With half his neck blown off, he was dead on the spot.
Another man was hit by an arrow between his eyebrows and in the heart. His head exploded, and a transparent hole was blasted through his chest, killing him instantly. His body staggered and fell, knocking over two tables outside.
The first man to rush into the room let out an angry roar. A dark shadow shot from a large crossbow with a bow arm about a meter long, and Old Jack immediately let out a hoarse scream. An arrow as thick as a thumb, covered in sharp barbs, pierced Old Jack's shoulder, lifting his thin body and pinning him firmly to the wall.
The man discarded the empty crossbow and took a few steps to Old Jack, pulling out a snake-shaped dagger with his left hand and viciously stabbing it into Old Jack's other shoulder. The dagger, razor-sharp, also pierced deeply into the wall.
A heavy punch landed on Old Jack's abdomen, and the man's face came close to Old Jack's, shouting, "Damn vampire! Where is your money? Tell me, where is your money?"
Old Jack's throat made a 'gurgling' sound, and he smiled strangely, spitting a mouthful of blood onto the man's face.
Another five or six men, each wielding various weapons, burst into the room, roaring as they charged at Yin Xuege and the two Yin clan warriors.
Yin Xuege licked a drop of blood near his lips, feeling the sweet life force contained in the warm blood, and smiled oddly, "Kill them all. These guys don't seem to be good people."
The soft sword in his belt, like a venomous snake, struck silently without any cold light. The thin, flexible sword wrapped around the neck of the man interrogating Old Jack, just as he had done countless times in the Child Hall. With a light pull, the man's head flew high, and a blood column shot up to a height of two or three meters, covering the entire room in blood.
The two Yin clan warriors charged at the intruders, leaving several blurred shadows. They did not use weapons, only their hands, with nails extended an inch long, tearing open the intruders' throats. More blood jets spurted out, turning the room into a hell of blood, with all the furnishings covered in a thick layer of blood.
With a 'thud,' the body of the man killed by Yin Xuege fell heavily. Yin Xuege, holding the soft sword, frowned at the dead man, suddenly realizing that this was an ordinary human, and with his head severed, he could not come back to life.
Taking a deep breath, Yin Xuege looked at the bodies scattered on the ground. It was his first time killing, but he felt neither disgust nor excitement. The smell of blood only made him wrinkle his nose slightly. The raw blood was too pungent, unlike the refined blood elixir, which was soft and sweet. This killing left a rather ordinary impression on Yin Xuege.
"Damn scum!" Old Jack, with great difficulty, reached out and pulled the dagger from his shoulder. However, the arrow, covered in barbs, was embedded over a foot deep into the wall, and the barbs were tearing his flesh. He could not free himself.
Yin Xuege walked to Old Jack, grabbed the arrow, and brutally pulled it out. A large amount of flesh came out with the arrow, and Old Jack let out a hoarse scream, staggering forward a few steps and collapsing to the ground, convulsing. Blood flowed continuously from his shoulder wound, and he screamed and cursed, spewing profanities.
"Scum, scum, these damn scum! Blackmuda, these damn bandits, why didn't the city guards hang them?" Old Jack screamed hysterically, "If I had known they were such ungrateful people, I would have lowered their prices by thirty percent when I bought their goods! I fed them, and they treat me like this!"
A Yin clan warrior sprinkled a bottle of dark red powder on Old Jack's wound, and the blood quickly stopped. This powder was a byproduct of the Yin clan's blood elixir, ineffective for the Yin clan but a miraculous cure for humans. The powder stopped the bleeding, stimulated the wound to heal, and quickly relieved Old Jack's pain.
Yin Xuege hid the soft sword in his belt and looked curiously at the bodies on the ground, "Old Jack, what do they do?"
Old Jack, panting, stood up, covering his wound and kicking Blackmuda's head away with a foot.
"Respected sir, they are a gang of thieves! They are greedy, ungrateful wolves! They are scoundrels from the sewers, stealing valuable items that are hard to sell, and the generous and kind Old Jack provides them with living expenses, wine, bread, and women!"
Old Jack, with a grim face, spread his hands, "But I never thought they would be so insane as to rob me! These ungrateful bastards completely forgot who gave them bread when they were about to starve to death!"
Yin Xuege nodded; the Child Hall had taught him about such matters, known as fencing and harboring stolen goods.
Rapid footsteps sounded, and the young man from the back alley burst in with several men wielding various weapons. The young man's hands were clenched into fists, and sparks were visible between his fingers, indicating he was ready for battle.
Stepping into the blood-soaked room, the young man let out a scream, "My mother! What happened here? Boss, are you planning to open a slaughterhouse?"
Old Jack, cursing, blocked the door and discussed the aftermath with the young man. Blackmuda and his men had used powerful weapons, and the patrons of the tavern had already fled in terror. The matter could not be hidden. How to handle it would depend on Old Jack's connections and influence.
Yin Xuege, curious, squatted in front of one of the intruders' bodies and picked up a peculiar gun.
A Yin clan warrior, cleaning the blood from his hands, quietly walked to Yin Xuege's side. Looking at the gun made of six goose-egg-thick steel pipes, the warrior said, "This is a human-made gun, a grenade launcher. This weapon is quite powerful and can threaten the bodies of Star Warriors and Moon Warriors. But it has no effect on Night Warriors!"
"Human-made gun!" Yin Xuege, curious, raised the grenade launcher and squinted, aiming it around.
"Even among humans, their strong ones now use crystal weapons and various magical artifacts. This gun is very outdated, extremely outdated!" The Yin clan warrior shook his head disdainfully, "The elders say that with the restoration of the laws of the universe and the return of spiritual energy, these weapons will soon be obsolete."
Yin Xuege nodded and threw the weapon to the ground.
In the teachings of the Child Hall, Yin Xuege knew that the current era was the end of the Lawless Age. The Lawless Age was about to end, and the era of the gods and buddhas was about to return. They were at the intersection of two eras, where old and new civilizations and powers were colliding.
In such an era, one could either rise to the top or fall into eternal ruin. As the Chief Executor of the Child Hall, Yin Jiyin, had told them, in this era, the Yin clan would rise with the tide, standing at the pinnacle of all races, transcending everything, and ultimately achieving eternal and supreme enlightenment!
Outside the tavern, the sound of loud chatter and sirens could be heard. Yin Xuege suddenly realized that he had been thinking too much. He was just a child of the Yin clan's Child Hall, with the strength of a Star Warrior but still a minor figure.
His main task now was to survive, to survive in the hostile environment of the Yin clan! Until he had enough strength to protect himself and truly control his destiny, his only task was to survive.
"Old Jack, find us a place to hide!" Yin Xuege stood up and greeted Old Jack.
As a secret base of the Yin clan in the Great Berlin City-State and a well-known black market for fencing stolen goods, Old Jack's tavern naturally had various secret passages and rooms. A few minutes later, Yin Xuege and the two Yin clan warriors were already hidden in an extremely secret underground room.
After a comfortable hot bath and changing into a clean, loose robe, Yin Xuege, who had been on the move and just killed someone, found a soft and comfortable bed and fell asleep.
It was his first time leaving the Yin clan city-state, his first time traveling such a long distance, and his first time truly killing someone.
So many firsts left Yin Xuege both physically and mentally exhausted. He almost lost consciousness as soon as his head touched the pillow. He slept deeply, completely ignoring all external sounds.
In front of Old Jack's 'Captain Jack's Tavern,' several dozen vehicles of various sizes were parked. Dozens of black-armored city guards were entering and exiting, examining the scene. The bodies of the intruders had been carried out and neatly arranged on the sidewalk. Several men in white robes were carefully examining the bodies.
On the nearby high-rise buildings, shadows flickered. A massive airship hovered above the tavern, about a thousand meters off the ground. Inside the airship's cabin, a group of fully armed black-clad men were on high alert.
Old Jack, cursing, stood at the door of his tavern, waving his hands and looking innocent as he complained to two men in black trench coats and top hats.
"Respected Inspector, I swear by my father's soul, I am a victim! Yes, I am a victim! These damn thugs blew open my office door, they wanted to rob me, they wanted to make this poor old man lose his pension!"
"Yes, they are dead, they were killed, they all became dead men! But isn't that normal? According to the city-state's public safety regulations, if they come to rob me, they should be prepared to be killed! So, they are dead, isn't that normal?"
"Of course, of course, they died rather tragically, poor kids, they died without a complete body! But it's not my fault; it's just that the guards I hired didn't know their own strength, right?"
The two inspectors in top hats said something, and Old Jack suddenly jumped up in great agitation.
"Hey, you damn bastards, listen up! Even if you are inspectors of the Great Berlin City-State, you can't treat me, a law-abiding citizen, like this! The legal taxes and illegal protection fees I pay you every month are not for you to cause me trouble!"
"You should be finding the masterminds behind these bastards, arresting them, killing them, and protecting my legal rights! Not standing here like a worn-out old prostitute, nagging! Am I wrong? Did I violate any public safety regulations? Did I do anything harmful to the city-state? If not, please leave immediately!"
"I need to clean up and reopen! It's not easy to make money these days, and I, this poor old man, want to earn some pension, is that wrong?"
While roaring, Old Jack deftly stuffed two bulging money bags into the inspectors' coat pockets.
Each money bag contained a kilogram of unrefined natural gold sand. In this cursed era, gold was the only universal currency. In the Great Berlin City-State, a kilogram of gold sand was enough to let a family of three live a relatively luxurious life for half a year or buy three to five young and beautiful maids.
The two inspectors pressed their pockets and then raised their top hats, bowing to Old Jack.
"All the laws of the Great Berlin City-State are to protect citizens like you, who are kind and law-abiding! Mr. Jack, we are very sorry about today's incident. You are undoubtedly the victim, and these damn bandits got what they deserved!"
In a large flying car parked on the roadside, a young man in a golden robe shook his head coldly. His golden hair, shining like gold, swayed with his movements, like a golden waterfall in the wind.
"These damn vermin, I should use thunder to judge their souls!" The golden-haired young man snorted, and several fine lightning bolts flickered in his eyes, and a faint thunderclap echoed in the car.
"Sander, don't be so agitated!" In the corner of the car, a red-haired girl, sitting on the floor and drinking from a bottle, winked at the golden-haired young man, "They are vermin, but the city-state can't do without them! Without them, would we have to deal with those lowly lives?"
Her slender, white hand gently shook, and three goose-egg-sized fireballs rapidly spun around her palm. She glanced through the car window at the tavern, coldly smiling as if sensing something.
"Sander, there seems to be one of our kind in this tavern. A self-degraded one, he has defiled his bloodline."
Sander slowly stood up, and threads of lightning emerged from his body, with a low, continuous thunderclap. He raised his head proudly and pointed a finger at the girl, coldly.
"Fenice, that self-degraded one, his aura is similar to yours. In other words, he has defiled the bloodline of your clan. I'm curious, with your personality, shouldn't you rush over and burn him to ashes?"
The car door was knocked, and Sander and Fenice exchanged glances, shrugging and smiling in agreement.
In the car, the third person, a young man in a white robe with a serene and pure aura, gently responded and opened the car door.
On the sidewalk, a white-robed man who had been examining the bodies rushed into the car, bowing respectfully to the three people inside.
"Three lords, we carefully examined the bodies and found some interesting marks. The one called Blackmuda, his head was cleanly cut off. From the wound, the weapon that killed him was likely a very sharp, flexible soft sword."
"A very sharp, flexible soft sword?" Sander smiled and snapped his fingers at the white-robed young man, "Hey, boss, if in the most chaotic, crime-ridden district of the Great Berlin City-State, someone is killed by a very sharp, flexible soft sword, who would the killer be?"
The white-robed young man slowly stood up, gripping a silver, radiant cross, and his serene face suddenly turned ferocious.
"Damn vampires, those evil creatures, their only fate is to turn to ashes in the sunlight."
A layer of hot white light emerged from the young man's forehead, quickly forming a set of silver-white, magnificent armor.
"Call all our subordinate hunters and completely surround this district. Better to kill ten thousand by mistake than to let one escape!"
Sander and Fenice exchanged glances, shrugged, and laughed in agreement.
