Chapter 73

After Su Jing returned home, the first thing he did was to transfer the baby rosy red oscars from the small fish tank to the large one.

He strictly controlled the substrate, water quality, and lighting, as the growth of rosy red oscars requires a very high-quality environment. If the environment is poor, even if they can survive, it will be difficult for them to develop the characteristic head bump, and their appearance will not be good. Such rosy red oscars would have little value.

After setting up the environment, Su Jing took a small piece of monster meat and used a meatball machine to grind it into a paste, which he then threw into the fish tank. Without any hesitation, the baby rosy red oscars swarmed over it and finished it in a moment. Clearly, they were still hungry and continued to search quickly, some even poking their heads out of the water, looking for more food. However, Su Jing did not continue to feed them monster meat but instead gave them some crushed shrimp.

Su Jing also prepared a lot of fish and meat and went to the backyard to feed the cats, dogs, birds, golden eagles, and the carnivorous vine.

The carnivorous vine had grown much larger, now stretching over three meters high when fully extended, with many more vines. However, it still waved in the wind without needing to climb on anything. It occasionally played with the kittens and puppies, but since Su Jing had taught it, it no longer considered them as food.

"Ah ya ya." The carnivorous vine happily coiled many fish to its base and then used its roots to pull them into the soil. It now buried nearly five pounds of fish every day. Su Jing didn't know whether it had digested them or just stored them at the roots, but since they didn't smell, he didn't worry about it.

"Ah ya ya." The carnivorous vine suddenly extended two vines in front of Su Jing, its voice full of pride.

"Huh? Are you going to bloom?" Su Jing's eyes widened as he saw two flower buds growing at the top of the two vines. They were still small, green, and looked tender and fresh, emitting an enticing fragrance.

"Ah ya ya." The carnivorous vine said excitedly.

"You're amazing. You were just a seed not long ago, and now you're blooming so quickly." Su Jing smiled, thinking that after blooming, the next step should be to bear fruit. He wondered if the fruit would be tasty. However, regardless of whether it was tasty or not, he had to keep an eye on the seeds to prevent another carnivorous vine from growing somewhere he didn't know.

Su Jing then took some fallen leaves to feed the crickets in the jar. He noticed that they had grown a bit, but the most significant change was in their color. Originally black, they had turned a deep purple-black. Their antennae were thick and long, moving flexibly. When they chirped, their voices were several times louder than before. Once, Su Jing caught a few crickets to fight with this one, but the others fled at the sound of its chirping.

Su Jing looked into the two plastic boxes. In one, the insects, which fed on lute and plum leaves, had not changed much. In the other, the insects had grown significantly in just an hour, each as big as a toe. What surprised Su Jing was that four of them had turned into cocoons, and the other six had stopped eating leaves and started spinning silk.

"In my arms, in your eyes, there the spring breeze is drunk, there the green grass is lush..." The phone rang, and Su Jing saw it was Zhu Jianhua calling. He immediately answered.

"Ai Jing, we've run into a bit of trouble here."

"What happened?"

"In a few days, there will be a large pet exhibition in Zhongyun City. Xiaoli was supposed to participate, but the production team is shooting her scenes, and the schedule can't be adjusted. But it would be a pity to skip the pet exhibition. Why don't you talk to the director? Maybe he'll listen to you."

"No need to trouble the production team. I'll bring another Siamese cat to the pet exhibition."

"Another one? Oh, right, you have another one of the same level. They look so similar that no one will be able to tell the difference. I'll bring it to you when I send the stray cats and dogs over in a few days."

"I'll go with you then." Su Jing thought for a moment and had another idea.

"Hehe, it would be great if you could come. When the Siamese cat performs some acrobatics and delivers flowers, it will definitely dazzle the judges." Zhu Jianhua said happily, knowing that only under Su Jing's care could the cats and dogs show their most human-like side. He was curious about how Su Jing did it, but Su Jing's explanation was too vague for him to understand.

"This Siamese cat isn't just good at acrobatics and delivering flowers." Su Jing smiled to himself but didn't say it out loud.

After hanging up, Su Jing went to the soy sauce barrel to get some monster meat to prepare dinner. However, he found the barrel empty, with all the monster meat eaten. Previously, he had made about 1,300 pounds of meat into jerky, kept 400 pounds in the freezer, and left 200 pounds in the soy sauce barrel, meaning he had already used about 300 pounds.

"Even though I'm being frugal, it will eventually run out." Su Jing felt a bit depressed, thinking about whether he should stop eating it and save it for important times, but he quickly shook off this idea.

First, the monster meat had greatly benefited him. His physical fitness had improved dramatically, his height increasing from 1.73 meters to 1.76 meters, and his nearsightedness of over 500 degrees had improved to 5.3 vision. His body had become incredibly well-proportioned and strong, with significant improvements in strength, speed, and agility. A healthy body is the capital of revolution, and the monster meat had made his body stronger, which was the best use of it.

Second, even if the meat was made into jerky and vacuum-packed and frozen, it would not last forever and would eventually spoil. If he saved it and didn't eat it, it would all go to waste.

"Maybe I should be more frugal with the animals and hope that the vortex appears again, bringing down a few more monsters. It's been ten days, why hasn't the vortex appeared yet?" Su Jing was eagerly hoping for more spatial garbage to be dumped.

As if his wish had been granted, the vortex appeared in the backyard around 3 a.m. that night.

The loud noise woke Su Jing up. He jumped out of bed, fully excited, without any resentment for being woken up in the middle of the night. He ran to the backyard and saw a large amount of garbage being dumped from the vortex in the sky. A small shed on the wall above the vortex was undamaged. This shed was built by Su Jing to test whether it would interfere with the vortex, but as expected, it had no effect.

At the same time, a few familiar voices could be heard from above, but they were mixed with the sound of the garbage being dumped, making them hard to hear clearly.

Su Jing strained to listen but could only hear fragments of the conversation, feeling a bit anxious. Suddenly, he whistled, and the golden eagle flew down from its nest on the roof. At the same time, Su Jing sprinted to the wall and leaped, jumping over four meters high. The golden eagle arrived just in time, using its claws to lift Su Jing and rise higher, landing him steadily on the wall. The golden eagle had grown very quickly, with a wingspan of 1.5 meters, and could barely carry Su Jing for a short flight, though it couldn't fly very high.

Standing on the wall, Su Jing focused intently and finally managed to hear the voices from the vortex clearly.

(ps: Sorry, I got stuck yesterday and updated late. I'll catch up today.)
