It was still slightly hot and humid in the last few days of summer.

Shen Yu walked out of her school and boarded the usual bus home. Slightly lightheaded from the classes that she attended the whole day, she couldn’t help but fall asleep to the gentle swaying of the bus. She would have overslept and missed her stop if not for the driver calling out to her twice. As there were only a handful of passengers that boarded and alighted at that bus stop, the driver took particular notice of her and had already carved her into his memory.

Shen Yu hastily thanked the driver and scurried to get off the air-conditioned bus. As soon as the hot, sultry air gushed against her skin, the pores on her skin which was originally clear and dry instantly moistened up.

Luckily, as the neighbourhood she got off is populated mostly by large and expensive villas, there were many trees planted along the pathway. She strolled beneath their shade and walked towards her home.

As she passed through a row of flower shrubs, a cluster of blue flowers caught her attention. Shen Yi stretched her hands out to gently stroke them.

However, before she could admire the flowers a bit longer, a loud voice boomed out of nowhere. “Hey, little girl! You’re not allowed to pick those flowers.” It was the old security guard who was stationed at the security booth.

It seems that he has mistaken Shen Yu for a flower thief.

Shen Yu flashed him an awkward smile, “No, I wasn’t picking the flowers.”

She turned around and continued walking through the neighbourhood. With the sun setting before her, her shadow gradually stretched longer.

Although they share the same name, she is not the original Shen Yu. In her original world, she was already 27 years old and was a well-known actress with a small fan base. Shen Yu began her career by studying the classical style of dancing and was later recruited to act in a historical drama series. As she was beautiful, her popularity quickly soared. Subsequently, after successively acting in a few major TV-series, Shen Yu’s popularity increased even more which secured her a firm footing in the entertainment industry.

But before she had her big break in her career, she died in an accident. It happened while she was on travelling in her company’s car heading towards a shooting site. Unfortunately, the driver missed a tight turning, the car collided through a crash barrier, and flew right off a cliff. Although she didn’t even feel an ounce of pain in her last moments, when she recalled the height of the cliff, she couldn’t help but shudder to think about how her she must have ended up as a pulp of flesh.

When she regained consciousness, she realised that she had already transmigrated into a girl who is similarly known as Shen Yu. She is currently 20 years old and is in her 2nd year of film school.

However, this is not the real problem. The biggest issue is that the world she has transmigrated into is set in a novel.

That’s right, even though she didn’t die from the fall, but she inexplicably became a minor supporting character in a novel!

The only comfort she could find is that at the very least, she was still among the living.

The reason why Shen Yu knew her situation well is that, before her transmigration, she had read the novel word by word.

She had been cast as the main female lead in a romance drama that was an adaptation of this novel. As this was her first time acting in a drama with a modern setting, she was worried that she is unable to fully comprehend the plot and characters in her script. Therefore, she requested her assistant, Han Xiaobing to purchase a copy of the original novel, titled ‘When will you love me’.

The setting and the people she had met in this world after she transmigrated, is identical to that in the novel!

Shen Yu didn’t have any complaints of the novel or the cowardly and gloomy girl that she had transmigrated into. However, the only complaint that she has is of the girl’s elder brother who is portrayed as the novel’s deranged main villain – Shen Xiao.

In the novel, he is bewitched by the novel’s white lotus female lead and fought tooth and nail with the main male lead, Situ Yi over her. He was fated to end up as the tragic main villain.

Shen Yu wanted to light a memorial candle for herself.

Shen Yu who had an inferiority complex is not Shen Xiao’s sister by birth but was rescued from a garbage dump by Shen Xiao’s mother.

The members of the Shen family are by nature, cruel and unkind. However, at that time, Mother Shen has just established a charity fund to raise the prestige and social standing of the Shen family. As such, Shen Yu was taken home instead of being left in the garbage dump.

Mother Shen didn’t care for Shen Yu, instead, Uncle Li, the Shen family’s butler took charge of her upbringing. As for the original Shen Yu, she was aware of her background since young. Although members of the Shen family indulges the original Shen Yu and had given her sufficient allowance, due to her own low self-esteem, she lived like a pauper and even insisted on taking a bus to travel in between her school and home.

It was pitiful enough that she had an arrogant and tyrannical elder brother who bullied her throughout the day, but she was also implicated by his action and met with a miserable ending.

Shen Yu immersed herself in her thoughts while kicking a tiny pebble by the side of the road. When she reached her home, she realised that there was a black Toyota parked outside the main gate. The price of the car, which is within the medium range, clearly doesn’t belong to the Shen family.

A greasy, bald middle-aged man stood beside the car. His bulged stomach was even more prominent than a woman who has been pregnant for 10 months.

Shen Yu walked past him and headed towards the yard. However, he stopped her before she can enter the house, and said, “Young lady, is this your home?”

Shen Yu turned around to look at him. Slightly guarded, she asked, “Do you need something?”

The greasy man opened his mouth and smiled, exposing a row of yellowish teeth, “I would like to ask if Shen Xiao is at home?”

Shen Yu frowned and took a few steps before saying, “In that case, you better leave. He hasn’t returned from his business trip!” After she answered him, she ignored the man. She opened the door without looking back and entered the compound.

She felt thirsty as the distance between her house and the bus station is not short, and it had been a hot day. Thus, after she entered the house, she immediately placed her schoolbag down and went into the kitchen to scour through the refrigerator. Although there were various types of fruit juices available, she poured herself a glass of orange juice.

As she drank it, her eyes wandered past the kitchen window and her sights rested on the greasy man who is still loitering outside the house.

She had not been entirely truthful. Her brother had indeed left for a business trip, but he’ll be returning home for dinner tonight. Also, this will be her first encounter with Shen Xiao after she had transmigrated.
