Chapter 1 Part 2

In the novel, even though Shen Xiao is abrasive when dealing with outsiders, but he is patient and indulgent towards his own family members. She has considered her situation for many days and decided that it was for the best that she move out. It’s only by staying away from Shen Xiao that she could avoid the tragedy that’ll strike the Shen family described in the novel. Hence, she decided to wait for Shen Xiao to return home and find an opportunity to discuss about her moving away from the family home. Shen Xiao usually paid his sister no heed, so accordingly, he wouldn’t make things difficult even if she decides to leave.

Shen Yu was quick to finish that glass of orange juice. Out of nowhere, Uncle Li walked into the kitchen. When he saw her, he chuckled and said, “Is the young lady already hungry? Dinner is almost ready, you can start eating once the Master returns.”

Uncle Li is the Shen family’s butler and housekeeper. He was on the plump side, and always maintained a cheerful demeanor. Even though this year he is approaching 60 years of age, but he remained highly capable. Regardless of sewing or making house repairs, he would finish all his tasks competently. His ability to cook leaves many in awe. Ever since Shen Yu transmigrated into this novel world, her appetite has greatly increased.

Shen Yu secretly pointed at the figure standing outside the courtyard and asked Uncle Li, “Who’s that?”

Uncle Li shook his head and answered, “He must be here to discuss business.”

As they spoke, the main gate opened, and a car drove into the yard. It was a Rolls Royce, which has a luxurious yet daunting presence.

Uncle Li nudged at her and said, “The Master has returned. Let’s welcome him at the door.” Immediately, he took the lead and headed towards the door.

Shen Yu’s mouth formed a slight pout. She thought to herself, Is he that great? He even needs people to welcome him home!

Despite her inner thoughts, she obediently followed behind Uncle Li.

The Rolls Royce drove slowly in and parked inside the house compound. When the rear door opened from within, a slender figure stepped out from the car. Shen Yu couldn’t help but feel depressed when she saw the man standing beside the car.

In the past, regardless it was in the dance academy or in the entertainment industry, Shen Yu had met many attractive men. Some of them were good looking in terms of their facial features but their figures were lacking. Some had an enticing figure but their face was not pleasing to the eyes. She has met men who are not only decently good looking but also had a passable figure. However, it was only on the rare occasions she would meet genuinely attractive men that deserved a second glance. Shen Xiao who has been portrayed by the author as a deranged villain is one of these men. He possessed not only an attractive face and a lascivious figure but carried himself in a noble manner.

Shen Yu can’t help but sigh silently to herself. He is so good looking, how could he be a psychopath?!

Shen Xiao stood in the courtyard. For a moment, his gaze happened to fall on Shen Yu, piercing right through her, as if he knew exactly what she was thinking. Shen Yu shuddered. He gradually shifted his sight towards the car door and with one hand pressed against the car roof.

When Shen Xiao’s car drove into the compound, the greasy middle-aged man had already stood waiting at the door. When he noticed that Shen Xiao was staring at him, he nodded his head and strutted towards him. He flashed his set of yellow tainted teeth and said, “President Shen, I finally have the opportunity of meeting you.”

Shen Xiao’s fingers rapped on the car roof, and he hummed gleefully, “President Lin, you even came here. What’s the matter?”

By then, the sun has almost set, the sky is completely tinted in an orange hue. The last remaining light coated the people in the yard with a sliver of gold. The scene before Shen Yu looked as if it came straight out of a painting.

Since the beginning, President Lin dare not stand straight. He carried himself as if he’s inferior to Shen Xiao, his back slightly hunched, and he constantly rubbed his hands nervously. “President Shen, you must be so busy that you’ve forgotten, but that useless son of mine lost a piece of land while gambling with you last night. Can you …..”

Shen Xiao was frowning at first but as if he were struck with by a piece of memory, he said, “Oh, so you’re here for that.”

When the man noticed that Shen Xiao has remembered the said incident, President Lin quickly said, “That piece of land may mean nothing to you but that’s our family’s only property. I would like to ask if President Shen could be merciful and forgive my son’s debt.” Upon finishing his words, a few drops of tears dripped down President Lin’s eyes.

Shen Xiao inserted both hands into his side pockets and swaggered forward. He circled around President Lin and said in a distressed tone, “Forgive the debt? Then, what would I get from the gamble last night?”

President Lin quickly replied. “If it’s not that piece of land and as long as it is within my ability, I promise I’ll do it for you.”

Shen Xiao remained silent and stared at him coldly upon hearing those words. Under Shen Xiao’s imposing gaze, President Lin began to perspire profusely, and it was not long before his whole shirt was drenched in sweat.

Shen Xiao shifted his gaze towards his shoes indifferently. “Hmm, there’s some dirt on my shoes.”

With just one sentence, he shifted everyone’s attention towards his shoes. The black leather shoes looked as if it was recently waxed and polished. In what ways was there dirt?!

Although Shen Yu couldn’t figure out what Shen Xiao meant by his words, President Lin instantly understood his meaning. He quickly knelt on one knee and sullenly said, “President Xiao, please lift up your foot.”

Shen Xiao amused, let out a chuckle. He arrogantly lifted his foot and placed it on President Lin’s shoulder. From his breast pocket, he pulled out a silk scarf and calmly polished the surface of his shoes as if it was a piece of artwork.

He took his time polishing his shoe, and after a few glances, he finally withdrew his foot from President Lin’s shoulder. He tossed the silk scarf on the ground and said, “It’s fine, you can go back now. I’m in a good mood today, so I’ll have mercy on you.”

President Lin beamed in joy and raised his head, “Thank you, thank you. Thank you so much for your kindness.”

It was only after he uttered a bunch of words to thank Shen Xiao, he finally bowed and took his leave.

Shen Yu who had witnessed the whole incident from the beginning until the end was left flabbergasted.

Shen Xiao took out a pack of cigarettes and he placed one into his mouth. After a few puffs, he looked towards the driver and instructed, “Quickly have Assistant Du transfer the land over from the Lin family. If not, this old man will bother me every day.”

Didn’t he just say that he will have mercy on the Lin family? How could he go against his promise so quickly?
