After meeting Master Wu Taishou, Du Lan sat in meditation for three days, finally realizing that if she came to this Dragon Ball world and didn't fight to her heart's content, it would be a waste. But what if she got killed? Du Lan thought that her life was just a lucky break, and dying in battle would be a fair trade, at least she could say she sacrificed herself to protect Earth.

Walking and stopping occasionally, Du Lan spent two more years helping those in need. Feeling that the Saiyans were about to invade, Du Lan decided to return to Kame House.

"Master, I'm back." Du Lan, dressed casually, flew to Kame House using the Flying Technique.

"Du Lan, you're back." Master Roshi and Krillin were both there.

"Master, Krillin, it's been a long time." Du Lan brought back many local specialties in large and small packages.

"Wow, so much good stuff." Krillin ran over and took the things from Du Lan's hands, "We'll have a feast tonight."

Du Lan entered and asked about Goku's situation. Master Roshi said they had already invited Bulma and Goku to a gathering at Kame House.

Du Lan knew that Goku's brother was about to return, and the Saiyan Prince Vegeta would arrive in just a year.

Three days later, Bulma arrived at Kame House in her flying machine. Then Goku came with his son Gohan.

But before they could finish their greetings, the unexpected visitor Raditz arrived.

Raditz revealed a shocking truth: Goku's real name was Kakarot, and he was a descendant of the famous fighting race, the Saiyans. The Saiyans' purpose for coming to Earth was to conquer it and sell it.

As expected, the righteous and simple Goku would not allow anyone to conquer Earth. Raditz took Gohan, intending to send him to space for training.

"Goku, I'll go with you." Du Lan saw Goku holding the Dragon Radar, his face grim, "I'll take the lead."

"Du Lan, that's my opponent, don't try to take over." Although Goku was worried about his son, he was excited to face an opponent.

"I just want to see the results of my training, I won't compete with you." Du Lan wanted to see if he could adapt to combat.

Krillin was also going to go, but Du Lan persuaded him to stay.

The two found Raditz and his spaceship in a deserted field.

"Raditz, I'll be your opponent." Du Lan stepped forward.

"Oh?" Raditz could clearly see that Du Lan's power level was only over 200, "Overestimating your strength, you're asking for death."

"Enough talk, if you don't attack, I will."

"Come on, human."

Du Lan didn't hesitate, and his Afterimage Fist instantly appeared in front of Raditz.

"Your speed is good, but that's all. Ah—" Raditz swung his hand, and a Ki blast shot towards Du Lan. With Du Lan right in front of him, there was no way to avoid it.

Du Lan defended with his arm, blocking the Ki blast, but the clothes on his arm were torn.

Counting the number of times Du Lan had fought in this world, it was almost none. He had never truly engaged in a life-or-death battle with a skilled opponent, so he didn't realize that the difference between experts was often just a moment.

Although Du Lan's power level was extremely high, his experience in life-or-death battles was zero, which is why he volunteered to take the lead.

"The reaction of an expert is indeed impressive." Du Lan was unharmed, but his face was grim, "It seems I can't hold back anymore."

Du Lan adjusted the gravity ring on his wrist to 1:1, "Ya—"

"Huh? Power level increased to 900." Raditz still sneered, knowing from the previous move that Du Lan was just a novice.

"Hmph!" Du Lan didn't waste words, increasing his speed and attacking Raditz with both fists and feet.

"Foolish!" Raditz had no intention of dodging.

"Your junior is still so naive, does he think this is a sparring match?" Piccolo, who had appeared beside Goku, commented, "His power level is strong, but he doesn't know how to kill."

Indeed, Du Lan didn't know how to kill. Before coming to this world, he had never even killed a chicken. So when he thought he was using his full strength, he was actually holding back.

Goku frowned. Du Lan's skills were good, and a sparring match would be a good choice. But in a life-or-death battle, it was a different story.

In the field, Du Lan kept changing his moves, but the damage to Raditz was limited.

"Damn, random Ki blasts." Du Lan used a technique he had used in a match with Goku.

Countless Ki blasts flew towards Raditz, who smiled and shouted, "Ah—" His hands moved so fast that he deflected all of Du Lan's Ki blasts.

Du Lan frowned and had to use his ultimate move, "Kamehameha—"

The explosion created a large crater, "Did I win?" Du Lan couldn't see Raditz anymore.

"Be careful! He's behind you." Suddenly, Goku shouted.

Du Lan tried to turn around, but a pain in the back of his head. Raditz had hit him on the back of the head.

If Du Lan were an experienced warrior, his first reaction to an enemy behind him would not be to turn around, but to strike back. Unfortunately, Du Lan lacked experience and was caught off guard by Raditz.

"Du Lan." Goku instantly caught Du Lan and whispered in his ear, "I'll hold Raditz off, you go save Gohan and leave."

Du Lan's head was still dizzy, but he nodded.

Goku and Raditz fought together, and then Piccolo joined Goku's side.

Seeing that Raditz was no longer paying attention to him, Du Lan quickly crawled to the spaceship, broke open the door, and carried Gohan away.

In the battle with Raditz, Du Lan realized he still couldn't bring himself to kill. Gohan was crying in his arms. Although Du Lan knew that even if Goku died, he could be revived with the Dragon Balls, he couldn't bring himself to say it.

Du Lan had already decided to focus on logistics and gradually move to the front lines.

Goku and Piccolo fought Raditz fiercely. In the end, Goku sacrificed himself, holding Raditz while Piccolo's Spirit Bomb penetrated them. This was Goku's first sacrifice, but it also gave him the opportunity to learn the Kaioken technique on King Kai's planet.

"Goku's energy is gone? Raditz's energy is gone?" Du Lan knew the battle was over, "Gohan, hold on, we're going back."

"Dad, Dad... waa..."

"Goku!" Krillin and Master Roshi also rushed over.

"The strongest Saiyan, the Prince of the Saiyans, they... already know about the Dragon Balls, and they will... come soon..." Raditz's last words shocked everyone.

After collecting Goku's body, Piccolo took Gohan away. Bulma set out to find the Dragon Balls. Du Lan and Krillin took Goku's body back to Kame House with Master Roshi.

At night, Krillin practiced boxing like a madman outside, while Du Lan and Master Roshi sat face to face inside.

"Master, I feel my power level is much higher than Raditz's, but I still lost."

"Du Lan, you've always lived in peace before training. After training, you haven't faced any challenges. So you don't know what you should do."

"I want to defeat the enemy."

"How?"

"With my strength."

"No, defeating the enemy requires not only strength but also the heart to win. I don't feel that you have the urgent desire to win."

"Master, how can I have the same desire to win as Goku?"

"Du Lan, you don't need to be like them. I've never wanted you to become what you want to be. Remember, fighting is not everything for a martial artist, and victory does not represent everything. Maintain a calm heart."

"Can that defeat the enemy?"

Master Roshi looked at Du Lan, "No."

"Master, I'm angry." Du Lan glared at Master Roshi.

"Ha ha ha, Du Lan, you think you have all the objective conditions to defeat your opponent: techniques, strength, and speed. But you still failed, right?"

"Yes."

"Such a result for a martial artist can only mean one thing: you need to be faster, stronger, and more powerful. Just hitting the opponent means the opponent's defeat. Strike with ten times the force against an opponent with one."

Du Lan understood. He thought that if he had the power of a Super Saiyan, defeating Raditz would be a simple matter. Yes, Master Roshi's words opened a door for Du Lan, showing him the path of striking with overwhelming power.

Adjusting the gravity ring to 30 times, Du Lan began his arduous training. Du Lan knew that in every battle, he couldn't use his full strength, and even his full-power Kamehameha was easy to dodge. So Du Lan knew he had two possibilities to defeat the enemy: one was to overcome his psychological issues, and the other was to become so strong that one hit would defeat the enemy.

Du Lan was not a Saiyan and couldn't transform, so his power level was already close to a Saiyan's pre-transformation level, but being caught up by Goku was inevitable. Therefore, Du Lan needed to work even harder.
