Generally, these goods are counted as part of the delivery loss. At the end of each day, before the shift change, the company requires that they be thrown away.
Of course, throwing them away is just a facade. The actual situation is that the workers on duty will divide these items among themselves.
However, before Jin Muchen chose this job, he had already heard from others that this job came with such an additional 'benefit.' This was actually quite good, as it could help him solve some of the problems he was facing.
Ever since his body changed, he had become a true glutton. It seemed as if he had entered a second growth spurt, with a voracious appetite for food energy. Even the cheapest junk food cost him over a hundred dollars a day to satisfy his hunger.
If he relied solely on his salary, he wouldn't be able to save any money. But with this food allowance, his life would be much easier. This should be considered a very pleasant surprise.
Under the dim lighting, smoke filled the air, and jazz music played from the record player. The patrons were all burly men, and the waitresses who moved between the tables were dressed provocatively, with ample figures.
The waitresses swayed their hips as they moved between the tables, and occasionally a burly arm would slap their ample bottoms.
The sharp slaps were often met with the waitresses' teasing screams and the men's laughter and whistles.
This was the Red Foal Bar, right next to the distribution center, where the burly men from the center came to unwind after work.
In the area where Brooklyn and Queens meet, there wasn't just one Costco distribution center; there were also Walmart and other supermarket distribution centers. After their daily work, the burly men from these centers liked to relax at the Red Foal Bar.
The reason was simple: the drinks and food here were very cheap.
Paul, who had lost the bet today, was quite true to his word. After work, he invited his coworkers to this bar, and Jin Muchen, being new, naturally wanted to get along well with his coworkers, so he didn't refuse.
"Hey, buddy, I'm giving you special treatment today. I'll not only buy you drinks but also a meal."
Paul put his arm around Jin Muchen's shoulder and said, even though it was only Jin Muchen's first day, he had already shown his strength.
From the official start of work at 10:30 AM, this guy had barely rested, working continuously until the end of the shift at 6:00 PM, except during lunch.
Such stamina was impressive, even to the muscular guys. Even they would take a 10 to 15-minute break after completing a task, as each trip was quite exhausting.
But Jin Muchen worked like a wound-up robot, tirelessly for the entire day, with a total rest time of less than half an hour.
This was a significant shock to the straightforward and strength-worshipping guys. By the end of the day, many had come to see this hardworking and helpful guy as a friend. In the afternoon, during a two-person task, if Jin Muchen hadn't helped Paul, he would have been injured.
So Paul immediately considered Jin Muchen a good friend and invited him to dinner.
The Red Foal Bar not only served drinks but also provided simple meals like burgers and fries.
"Alright, but can you get me a super-sized one? I'm really starving."
Since someone was treating him, Jin Muchen didn't hesitate. Paul was even more straightforward, snapping his fingers and shouting to the plump cook behind the bar.
"Doris, one king-size meal."
The plump cook glanced over and nodded, clearly familiar with Paul and his group.
The other coworkers ordered their beers. Americans are clear about this: when someone buys drinks, it's just drinks, not dinner.
Paul's willingness to buy Jin Muchen dinner was a sign of a good relationship, and it was a separate matter.
"Ha, kid, you must have a good appetite. Not everyone can finish the K meal here."
Antonio, a Mexican, raised his beer bottle and said to Jin Muchen.
"Ha, a good guy should have a good appetite. I'm sure this kid can finish it all."
John laughed and patted Jin Muchen's shoulder. Jin Muchen rubbed his stomach and laughed.
"Don't worry, Antonio. I'm so hungry I could eat a cow right now."
Soon, a fragrant breeze came from behind, and the burly men who had been laughing and chatting in the booth fell silent, staring at Jin Muchen's back.
When Jin Muchen felt something strange, the breeze reached his side.
"Here's your K meal."
The voice was very sweet, unlike the affected tones of the other waitresses. Jin Muchen turned his head and saw a bright and charming profile: blue eyes, a straight nose, long blonde hair, and a slender figure, very different from the other burly waitresses, especially the two almost bursting out of her top.
The burly men around him held their breath, their throats moving up and down. Even though they were trying to control themselves, Jin Muchen could still hear their swallowing.
The beauty in front of him, with her unforgettable chest, reminded many of the famous milk-shaking model on TV.
Such a level of beauty, if seen at all, would usually be in a high-end place in Manhattan, but now she was here in this crude roadside bar, which was unimaginable.
Jin Muchen looked at the woman, feeling very familiar, as if he had seen her somewhere before, but he couldn't remember where.
The waitress left with a chorus of whistles from the burly men, and Jin Muchen didn't think much more about it. He was more concerned with the dinner in front of him.
The king-size meal lived up to its name. The bread was as big as a nine-inch pizza, with two thick meat patties, pickles, lettuce, and eight slices of cheese. The aroma was overwhelming. The fries were as thick as fingers, a full pile, probably a pound, plus half a pound of onion rings and two hot dogs.
This meal was typical for the burly men who did heavy labor. If it were the old Jin Muchen, he might not finish it in three meals, but now, for him, it was just an appetizer. In the stunned gazes of the others, Jin Muchen finished everything in less than twenty minutes.
"Guy, I think you should enter a gluttony contest. I bet you could eat more than that Japanese girl."
Paul patted Jin Muchen's shoulder and then changed the subject.
"Hey, guys, what do you think of the new waitress? She's so hot. Ha, I think I'm in love. I'm going to pursue her."
"Forget it, Paul. Don't daydream."
"Right, that girl is clearly a new arrival in New York. Once she gets used to the place, she'll quickly fall into the arms of the rich guys in Manhattan. You and she are from different worlds."
"Ha, you cowards, you're just jealous of Paul's courage."
Soon, Paul and the burly men around him were joking and arguing, and the relaxed and harmonious atmosphere helped Jin Muchen, who had been tense for days, gradually relax.
"Ah... bastard..."
"You... bitch..."
Then came a sharp slap. Jin Muchen felt a weight in his arms. When he came to his senses, he found a woman in his arms.
The familiar perfume, and when he looked down, he saw the familiar face, now filled with fear and委屈 (grievance).
The woman was holding her cheek, which had clearly been slapped hard. Jin Muchen looked up and saw that their table was surrounded by seven or eight burly men.
The leader, a burly white man, wasn't unattractive, but the swastika tattoo on his exposed arm was very noticeable.
"Hey, John, when did you start hiring yellow monkeys?"
"Guy, don't be impulsive. That's Joey Brind. He's a notorious thug around here."
Paul, fearing Jin Muchen would act rashly, held his shoulder.
Joey Brind and his brothers and friends were workers at the nearby Walmart distribution center and were notorious thugs among the workers. They were said to have close ties with the union, and the workers here were afraid to offend them. Joey was also a white supremacist.
"Who we hire is none of your business, but Joey, you've really grown. You can now hit a woman in front of so many people?"
John stood his ground, being a long-time resident of the area with connections as strong as the Brind brothers, he didn't fear them.
Joey, who had drunk a lot, had pinched the waitress he had been eyeing all night, and after being slapped, he hit her back, sending her into Jin Muchen's arms.
